A Tavola Trattoria

We have been dining with this restaurant for years and continue to be inspired by the menu, the ambiance, and the owners and staff. The staples of their menu remain and the rotation of fresh, farm-to-table dishes keep us coming back for more. Our latest treat was to be seated at a table with a secret drawer filled with love letters from past diners.

First time here, Rose, the owner, and Cody, at the bar, were so friendly and welcoming to us. We sat at the bar and had an absolutely delicious meal. Lamb chops and Spring pea ravioli, grilled octopus with chick peas and roasted red peppers, homemade lemon ricotta mousse cake and coconut rum gelato. Their very talented chef came out to say hello to us.
I just kept wishing it was a Saturday evening instead of Sunday so we could have stayed longer. Cannot wait to visit these lovely people again and enjoy their delicious food !

What a wonderful meal! Right on the main drag in downtown New Paltz. Set in a gorgeous old rustic building, A Tavola would be right at home in Manhattan. The service was impeccable and the food divine. I started with a peach cocktail as I perused the menu. Warm fresh baked bread arrived at my table in the meantime. I chose the beet salad to start (delicious!) and the pumpkin gnocchi (pillowy soft!) as my entree.

For dessert I was torn between the chocolate cranberry tart and the pumpkin cheesecake. I finally went with the pumpkin option. It was like layers of pumpkin gingerbread and cheesecake with a bruleed top and caramel sauce on the side. Absolutely delicious. I would definitely go back.

Don't miss the excellent cocktails, and the fantastic beef tartar. 🍖 🍗 🍸 In fact each meal was fantastic so have it all.

We were crossing through New Paltz on a busy Saturday evening following a visit to a near by state park. As we were very hungry and tired we thought to stop and dine in this beautiful little town. We called couple of restaurants but they were not accepting customers without prior reservations. I am thankful because we called A Tavola Trattoria and they went out of their way to accommodate us and make a beautiful day even better.
Rosemay is a treasure of a human, and our server Matt was exceptionally polite, witty and kind.
When you add an incredible meal to a wonderful human experience, you have a spot that deserves one hundred stars not just 5. What a great place to be!!

Delicious food! I had 3 appetizers: the steak tartare, the octopus, and the roasted cauliflower mushroom. They were all fabulous! My mom had the corn chowder and the lamb, and was very pleased with them both.
The house bread is a wonderful sourdough.
Desserts were interesting and satisfying without being too rich: Sicilian chocolate gelato with pistachios and ladyfingers; buckwheat cake with cranberry jam and mascarpone, with a bitter chocolate ganache.

The only drawback was a very long wait between our apps and main courses. The restaurant didn't seem full so I am not sure why that happened.

We will definitely go back!

Cozy restaurant has an old world tavern feel. Food was yummy, a little pricey but worth it. Had awesome sour dough bread!

Favorite local restaurant! It’s on the smaller side and very personalized, and the food and drinks are unbelievable!!! (Gin and Jam drink, cheese plate appetizer and truffle Mac & cheese are all TO DIE FOR)!!! My favorite place to go for special occasions. Keep up the great work!

I have frequented this restaurant for years. The quality of the food is usually exceptional and the staff is great. However, our meal and service last night was above expectation. Everyone at my table ordered the Branzino and we are still talking about how delicious it was today. The Pavlova was equally as amazing for dessert. The service is consistently above par. I highly recommend dining here!

Amazing food but most of all the staff was extremely welcoming.

This place is some of the best Italian food I’ve ever had. The pasta is delicious - I had the bolognese and clams, and the risotto was delish. The fish and meat entrees are also well prepared and satisfying. It is a rustic and cozy eatery 💜

So my partner and I came here on a Monday because alot of our usual places were closed. We realized that we knew the owner from when he was a server at the bistro in Newpaltz. Well I must say that he has created a lovely Italian restaurant. The appetizers were delicious and the main course was fantastic. The desserts were amazing and made in house and the salted caramel gelato was “to die for”. The service at this place should be a standard for all fine dining establishments, it was a level of service that you don’t see much anymore in the restaurant industry. Keep doing what you are doing guys because you nailed it.

My husband and I went here about a week ago for the first time since moving to the area. The Northern Italian cuisine was delicious and the atmosphere was romantic! The man who co-owns the restaurant was genuinely nice and appreciative of our business there. We would definitely go back here! The prices are somewhat high, but you are paying for quality.

Staff was very friendly and sweet! Food came out quickly and was delicious. I asked for a modification, and since the kitchen wasn’t able to do it, they offered to make me something entirely different to my liking; extremely kind and generous! This is a very lovely place :)

We absolutely love the food here. High quality ingredients, creative ideas and great execution. The seasonal salads, the branzino, the chicken, the steak, the sorbet… and the bolognese sauce is soooo good. Missed it so much during the pandemic. Hope that they will always be in business.

I went to A Tavola for the first time on Mother's Day with my sister. We were seated right next to the front window. Our server was well versed about the specials, but we both chose from the regular dinner menu. The meal begins with their warmed crusty bread, which they serve with EVOO. I had the grilled octopus to start, which was done to perfection, not chewy at all, and very delicious. For our entrees, my sister had the chicken under a brick. My sister reported that it was really juicy, even the white meat, and perfectly seasoned. Cut to a week later and she's still talking about how great it was, how she can't wait to go back and have it again. I had the truffle mac n cheese which had a really generous amount of truffles and was generally just a really large portion, considering the price $15 and the fact that it was a 1/2 portion. (I love it when restaurants offer pastas in 1/2 portions.)
We finished with the house made salted caramel ice cream, amazing as well. Will definitely be going back!

Fine dining in a rustic atmosphere. Loved the repurposed furniture. Staff were exceptionally attentive and friendly. Solid selection of wines and signature cocktails. The flavors and preparation of every dish was classy yet unpretentious. The prices are higher than our typical family restuarant, but you absolutely get what you pay for. This was a special occasion visit and our entire experience had a special vibe.

Super delicious and amazing service at this top-notch Italian restaurant. I came a week ago Saturday with my cousin and his young kiddos, and A Tavola couldn't have been more accommodating and the service friendly and wonderful. The food was SO good. I got the roast chicken with escarole and potatoes and it was literally one of the best I've ever had. Will definitely be back for another dinner w just adults!

The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was cozy, and the staff were great! It seems like a majority of the food comes from local farms and you can tell by the quality of the dishes. The wait between dishes wasn’t too long, considering this is fresh, made to order food. We had a number of small dishes and a half plate of the mac n’truffle and the salmon risotto which were both amazing. We had a wonderful time and would love to come back when we’re in the area again.
