A Shore Thing at Charlestown Beach, LLC

I cannot say enough great things about this place and our stay here this past week in July. My daughter and I love Charlestown and the beaches, so we decided to stay at A Shore Thing. The Inn is charming, the rooms are super clean, and the grounds are just lovely. The breakfast is fantastic and well worth getting up for. Patty and Jen are very welcoming and do such a great job with every little detail. We shopped at The Barn and found some very cute items to take home. We just left and already can't wait to come back.

I had a Great Stay in November! The Location was for me very suitable as I visited a colleague who live close by. It’s a 5 min drive to the beach and a restaurant is across the street. The room is very nice, with a comfy bed and big shower. I most appreciated the service. The breakfast was home made and varied every morning. The owners took great care of me and in couldn’t have asked for more. Can highly recommend this place!

This was our second stay at A Shore Thing. Jenn and Patty are wonderful hosts and go above and beyond to help with anything you may need. From spotless clean rooms to delicious breakfasts, beautiful grounds and fun conversations we were again completely happy!! Highly recommend staying there!! You won’t be disappointed!

My wife and I had a wonderful time at A Shore Thing! Patty and Jen had great hospitality and made a delicious breakfast every morning! There is a large backyard with adirondack chairs to lounge around in. There are also some restaurants right across the street. Only 1.4 miles from Charlestown Beach.

We had a fantastic stay at A Shore Thing! From when arrived at the B&B to when we left we felt extremely welcomed and taken care of. The beach decor is super nice inside of the rooms and the furniture had an elegant look and feel. There were extra small touches such as a throw in the room which was great to use outside on the porch. Breakfast in the morning was absolutely fantastic! Make sure you check out the barn for some custom gifts. We relaxed on the porch and listened to the birds sing. We are a little early in the season but it seems that there are lots of beautiful flowers that will be blooming. We will be back :)

A Shore thing is just that. Our hosts Jen and Patty have created an atmosphere that in my opinion will be hard to duplicate. The charming decor boasts immaculate rooms and bathrooms. Quaint sitting areas inside, outside you can enjoy an outdoor shower or relax in the hammocks on the lawn. Rocking chairs on the front porch where you can enjoy your second cup of coffee after eating a beautifully prepared not to mention delicious, breakfast. You can shop for unique gifts at The Barn which is right on the premises. All this and minutes from the beach. I will be returning and recommending this spot to all my friends a family. Great Time!

A wonderful time at A Shore Thing this past week. Jen and Patti were terrific, and accommodating. Our room was quite comfortable (and cool!). Breakfast delicious... Outdoor shower, the works... All of their suggestions for dining, and places to see were spot on ! We look forward to returning in the near future.

Jenn and Patty, the proprietors of A Shore Thing at Charlestown Beach, RI, excel at creating a welcoming atmosphere having designed the Inn with guests front and center. We enjoyed Jenn and Patty's enthusiasm and hospitality from the onset.

Some noteworthy highlights:

Each guest room and private bath is well-appointed and impeccably clean, having anticipated the needs of guests. Quality bedding, thick towels for shower and beach use, sitting areas in each room with swivel TV's and private bathrooms, the home away from home feeling is enhanced with plenty of natural light. The parking and grounds are also worth mentioning as art and seating adorn the gardens should you enjoy a stroll or a repose. And parking is within close proximity to the Inn's entrance. Upon arrival, we were given a tour of the Inn's common areas, from a spotless, inviting kitchen designed to ensure guests have access to the essentials to a cozy dining room where delicious homemade breakfasts are individually served from Jenn and Patty's scratch kitchen. Please note: the breakfast menu, which varies daily, deserves its own review given the 5 star culinary delights that are plated and served fresh, catering to individuals with certain dietary needs when specified in advance, featuring amazing scrambled eggs, cooked to perfection french toast or a frittata designed with a farm to table eye for fresh fruit, herbs and the like.

If you have put A Shore Thing in your queue of potential places, please move this wonderful establishment to the top of your list.

Before I close, the history of this B and B, the area in which it resides, beautiful Charlestown Beach within a mile of the Inn, and the convenient access to highways and byways also make this location a stand out. Jenn and Patty are well-versed in all of the above and willing to assist guests.

Much about our stay is memorable, and we will return; however, I am so glad that one morning I decided to re-live my younger years, and shower alfresco at the Inn's outdoor shower, which is a far cry from the outdoor showers of my youth! The Inn's shower is designed with ample space for towels and toiletries ( the major ones are supplied for your convenience), built
-in substantial seating and shelving for that cup of home-brewed coffee, compliments of the Inn, or your refreshment of choice, sunshine or moonlight, it's worth the experience.

This was my second time staying at A ShoreThing, and believe me it is A sure thing . Immaculate inside and out. Patty and Jen are the perfect hosts they are so accommodating and they make you feel so welcome. You can shop at The Barn which has great gifts of all kinds and it is located on the property so you don’t have to drive anywhere if you don’t want to. The beautiful beach is right down the block and in the morning they serve you the most delicious breakfast. When it is time to leave you feel like you are a family member rather than a guest. My husband and I can't say enough about our stay at "A Shore Thing" this past week in July. The only word to describe the week was "OUTSTANDING". The breakfast each morning was delicious. Patty and Jen you are extremely gracious hosts. You made vacation fun.

Great hosts. Beautiful rooms. Delicious full breakfast. Every detail is well thought out, from the light and airy quiet rooms, to enough hooks in the bathroom! Beautiful artwork hangs on the walls everywhere. A perfect B&B right in the heart of the beach community of Charlestown. I highly recommend this wonderful place!

There are too many things to list! The space is beautiful and comfortable. The host Patty was absolutely amazing. I don’t think I have ever felt right at home so quick. The location is right in the middle of everything (beach, shops, food, observatory, parks). The included breakfast at 8AM is the cherry on top.

Finding the location of the BnB, as well as our check-in process went very smoothly. Patty, who helped us throughout our stay, showed us to our very clean and spacious room while sharing some recommendations for the area. Thanks to her we were able to enjoy Charlestown and beyond, supporting local businesses (bars, restaurants, and bait shop to rent kayaks) along the way. She even let us borrow some beach chairs!

The bnb is quiet and charming, a perfect getaway for couples and families alike. So grateful for their hospitality, hope to visit soon :)

Second girls trip to a Shore Thing..Again only positive things to say about our stay. Jen and Patty are wonderful hosts. Very accommodating. A Shore Thing is super clean, beautiful property, so relaxing and breakfast always great. I will say it again in my second review a Shore Thing is a Sure thing....Its a must if you are going to Rhode Island

My wife and I stayed here and absolutely loved it! The setting was so peaceful and Jennifer and Patty were more than hospitable. We woke up to a delicious breakfast which was absolutely amazing. We will definitely be staying here again in the future.

A Shore Thing B&B was a quintessential New England B&B with charm. Clean, cozy, and the pancakes were delicious. Highly recommend this Charlestown gem and supporting this local small business.

Don’t for getting to “SHOP THE BARN at Charlestown Beach” in back of the B&B. Best gift shop in the area.
Gifts, games jewelry, beach wear, beach toys, cards, pillows, cotton shirts, scarves, art, mugs, souvenirs, bath and body, fun and functional up- purposed furniture.

My husband and I just stayed here for a quick weekend away before baby #2 arrives later this summer and it was just what we needed. Patti & Jenn were so friendly and attentive and offered great recommendations for local things to do. Breakfasts here were our favorite meals of the weekend- so good! Our room was clean and comfortable and we happily bought a couple souvenirs from The Barn out back to remember our trip by (we'll make sure to send a picture of the new baby in their "Shore Thing" onesie 😁) We would happily return next time we are looking to get away!
