Amazing little refuge. It has awesome views, an auto tour route, and paved handicap accessible walking trails. They also allow limited waterfowl hunting during the state season.

This place is absolutely amazing the best. I go for a drive here everyday and so blessed. I see bald eagles and hawks and deer and cranes and otters and owls and pheasants and snakes you name it. Defiantly recommend this place

Great place to enjoy a walk on the trail. You can see wildlife all over the place. There is also an auto tour if you only have time for a drive through. Visitors center is nice and the staff seem very friendly. Enjoy fishing and swimming at the reservoir or go waterfowl hunting during the normal season. It has fun possibilities for everyone.

Love this place. Very Peaceful and Serene. I spend hours out here with my dogs. Fishing and non motorized boating at several lakes. I am in the area four to five times a week, if you go and enjoy, please leave a zero to negative footprint. That is the only way to keep places like this pristine.

So many waterfowl! Doesn't take long to visit either as the car route provides great viewing opportunities. Definitely stopping by whenever I pass thru Alturas again.

Great place for birding. 3 mile car loop with trails and a blind...would be great in the fall. We went in May after winter migration.

The walk around ponds was spectacular! (Paved, about a mile). We are experienced birdwatchers and the quantity and variety of waterbirds was amazing. Saw a scaup (greater or lesser??)! Highly recommended. (The Dorris Reservoir, not so much...)

There is a great accumulation of different types of birds here. There are water fowl, upland game birds and raptors. In spring the waters are full of the young paddling after their parents. There are driving and biking roads and trails only for walking and slow strolling. There are restrooms, maps and a museum at the headquarters.

Nice quiet area to watch bird and look at the scenery with out traffic or distractions. It a very relaxing place to come sit and get away.

We spent a couple of hours here. There were many areas with water in late April. We saw sandhill cranes, turtles, waterfowl, and more. There were restrooms and walking paths.

Beautiful place to stop and stretch your legs or walk your dog! Many educational signs to read. A stopping point for many migratory birds. Drive the auto tour loop for a quick tour. Composting toliets, closes at dusk.
