Wow, this place is a hidden gem. It’s only like 1 mile away from the very popular and perennially busy Section 16 trail system. This was our first visit and there was still some snow on the ground from several days ago with very few foot prints or bicycle paths through it on a cold sunny Saturday. In our one hour hike we only made it through may be a quarter of the path and turned around due to time constraints and only saw one bicyclist. I’m so excited to visit again soon and complete the entire trail and I’m intrigued by the trail map section that was called old growth forest. 😊

The original pictures I saw from other reviewers made it seem like this was all burned up space but that’s absolutely not the truth. It is classic gorgeous Black Forest. Come visit!

Wonderful 9 mile loop trail perfect for an easy bike outing. The trail lies on the palmer divide and there are two climbs up and over the divide so a nice, not entirely flat, ride. The wildflowers are in abundance here due to the fire a number of years back and only adds to the beauty of the area.

Great and we'll very marked trails with only slightly aggressive sections. Approximately nine miles with lots of visuals of the Black Forest burn scar. Pretty views from the northeast side of the trail.

The Pineries is a beautiful place for hiking, running, biking, and horseback riding. The nine mile trail is fully unpaved, about 99% hard dirt and 1% sand, with 600 feet of elevation gain. Bikers must often slow down because of frequent turns, poor traction, narrow trails, and other people. Allow one hour for biking. The 1070 acre landscape landscape is a combination of shady pine forest, grassland meadows on rolling hills, and some burnt forests. Stop by the grand overlook for a selfie, and nearby there is another good overlook by the water tower/silo. The trail is quiet and peaceful, but watch out for occasional stumps in the forest. With my older 4G phone, I had no T-Mobile (Google Fi) data connectivity along half the trail, while other times it was great. I still got a call in the parking lot where I had no data. At the beginning of the trail is a two-person, unisex bathroom.

Took my five year old daughter with me on a trail-a-bike and had no issues. Perfect place to introduce a kid to a dirt trail and get some cross country mountain biking experience; though keep in mind a couple areas may be too steep for a littler kids and may require some walking! I wouldn't do the whole loop if your purpose is to take a kid to learn some trails and they're on their own bike. Feel it out with each kid.

What a great place! The trails aren't repaired yet after the rainfall, but there are caution signs where to be careful. Great day!

Great place to walk the dogs. Trails are fairly clear even with all the snow. Beautiful and quiet.

Am 8 mile balloon loop meanders across a hilly open space. Much of it is in a burn area, but it has many spots with a Pikes Peak view. If you hike, look out for a lot of bicycles! Can be very windy at times.

Good hike. I intentionally went here for the flatness. It's a long hike. 8 mile loop. Reminded me of Ga!

Awesome single track trail. I tracked it at 8.4 miles with about 2500 feet in elevation change. Took me a hour and 5 minutes to complete the loop on a MTB and that's moving at a quick pace. Probably not the best for small kids unless they're fit

Wonderful new trail! It's a long loop but can do out and back if you can't make 8.4miles. It is a really great trail, quiet, rolling, and nice views of the mountains from afar.

Nice place for a meandering hike. Don't forget water & a energy bar or two. Found this one not as scenic or friendly as other parks in the area. Definitely worth doing the hike. Great for a run, especially if you're practicing for a race.

Great place to ride horses. Trailer parking good but can be tricky if cars park where says trailer parking but happens only when park super busy. Nice trails as they did great clearing and making them. Many spots to get off the trail when bikes come by. Very polite bike riders and dog walkers use these trails! Love when they have bells on their bike. Gives horseback riders heads up!

Went for a family bike ride. Some parts are intense for the littles (and out of shape Moms) but we loved it! Beautiful views, lots of flowers, space. We only saw 3 or 4 folks while out. Its was great!

I ran 8.5 miles through parts of the Black Forest. There were rollings hills. The trail was easy to follow. I love this run and will add it to my favorite running trails around Colorado Springs.

Rolling hills. Awesome view. In burn scar so not shaded at all parts though still gorgeous. No bail outs so know what you're getting yourself into. 600 feet of up hill (due to rolling hills)
