Smokey Bear Motel and RV Park

We did not stay in a room rather we stayed at the RV park they recently added. It is behind the motel. There are about 6 spots which are very spacious. We stayed a couple nights and it was great! We arrived late and the very nice owner helped me get to my spot and even helped me with light while I got situated. Definitely coming back!

We pulled in here after getting stuck in the snowstorm. The rooms were clean, service was friendly, and we slept really well in the comfortable beds.

The rooms are clean and fresh There is some age to them, but they have been completely freshened up. The family that owns the motel are very nice and very helpful. The price is exceptional.

Great little vintage motel. Rooms are dated but very clean and everything functions.
If you're on a bike make sure you have experience with gravel, plenty of parking but it is gravel.
If you stay, be sure to try the Smokey Bear Cafe next door. We had both supper and breakfast there. Great food at a great value with great service.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this motel. The rooms are clean. The owners are very nice and welcoming. Room had the cutest little fridge and microwave, rocking chair is so comfortable, giant TV and clean bathroom. Will stay here again when we are back in Capitan.

Smokey the Bear Motel. We stayed here 4 nights over July 4th. The rooms are clean. The owners and staff are amazing. They took such good care of us. Any requests were handled v ery quickly. They truly enjoy what they do. We stay here every year.

Great rates and the room was very clean and comfortable. The room had a small refrigerator with a coffee maker, but no decanter. I travel with my own coffee maker so it wasn't a deal breaker. I actually found it a little amusing. Cable TV worked great, WiFi not so great. It was touch and go with the service. It would work great for about 5 minutes and then nothing. Then after about 10 minutes it would reconnect for maybe another 5 minutes. Not sure what was going on, so I gave up trying. I would stay here again. Very nice folks operate the establishment.
I stayed here again about 2 weeks later and need to update. My room was spacious, super clean and well furnished. In my previous post I mentioned the missing decanter h the coffee maker. Well, I was wrong. These coffee makers do not require a decanter. ( I still travel and use my own coffee maker.) The TV is large so there's no problem watching or seeing the picture. The WIFI worked and worked very well. With all this said, I am adding the 5th star to my review. And yes the folks here are super friendly!
Update 4-7-23 Smokey Bear Motel is dependable and consistent with their hospitality each time I stay there. With their affordable rates, I stayed an additional day so I could check out the Smokey Bear Museum and Fort Stanton.

I enjoyed the stay and would revisit any time I'm in the area.

(August 2019- Revisit) ..it's been a little over four months and I found myself coming back through the area from Arizona to Texas. stopped here for the night once more ,in a different room. I find this place very comfortable and interesting, the family running the business are extremely pleasant and friendly. As far as cleanliness, each of the rooms were found to be very well kept and clean, I have no complaints. Actually it is one of the highlights of my visit through the area. 😉👍

The rooms are decorated so cute. The beds were super comfortable and the rooms were REALLY clean. The girl in the office was very nice and personable. I highly recommend this motel.

I've stayed her three times and had an excellent experience every time. First, the owners are very nice and accommodating. The rooms are clean and smell good. The beds are firm (the way I like it) and lofty pillows. For a small town with sometimes dingy hotels, this is a breath of fresh air.

As a traveling sales person in New Mexico and West Texas for 7 years this is by far my favorite place to stay. The staff/manager/owner are all very friendly and the rooms are extremely clean and affordable. I love the southwest Smokey the Bear Decor, I feel like I'm on vacation instead of working. I have stayed in many of the rooms and they are all very nice. I LOVE this place!

The owner is on site. Family run place. Very polite. The rooms were spotless, safe and secure.!! Even the ceiling was was dust free!! The area is great. I ate at the Smokey bear restaurant next door, the food was delicious.
I will stay there again, on future trips.

Great night here. Very accommodating and friendly ownership. Comfortable room, fridge and microwave in room. As stated by earlier reviewers not a 5 star place but very clean. Shower needed a plumbers attention but for the price can't really complain.

It was a great place. Very impressed. Each room has a different theme. The wifi and cable TV worked great. Microwave and refrigerator. We did not expect all that. The owners work on site daily. Hard workers.

Motel was clean, beds were firm & comfortable, TV was nice and big. I liked that there was a fridge & microwave that was very convenient. I loved the restaurant next door. (except grn chili was not at all hot). I ordered a veggie omlet. Prices were reasonable.

Stayed there first of March. Room was good, beds were excellent, shower/tub area great. Housekeeping excellent as well as the people who own it...I will stay there again and again as I have family in Capitan. Have a Smokey Bear restaurant beside it which has excellent food and service. Also down the street is Oso's...another great place to eat...and they have a good grocery store there as well. Overall 100 on all points.

Very friendly manager. Room was comfortable and clean. Much improved over previous owners. More improvements ongoing. New beds, for example. We enjoyed our stay and will be back.

Stayed here about a year ago on a road trip to Show Low, Arizona. Well worth the low $ for the night. Not a 5 star hotel, but did not expect that! Nice quiet little town, ate at the Smokey Bear Diner - Awesome breakfast! Will definitely stop again.
