Short hike, to a beautiful beach under a waterfall. There are boulders to hike up, and sit on the enjoy the view up high. Water was not too cold for swimming and you have these beautiful canyons and cliffs surrounding you while you float under the falls and look up at the beauty.

It is one of my favorite places to go. You have it all: camping, hiking, climbing, caves, swimming, exploring, creeks, and full of beautiful. All ages can go and have fun, from baby to elderly. Experienced to no experience.

Hidden gem just outside Boise area. Jump creek rec area provides a nice day out for the family, and is close enough for a quick afternoon adventure. The trail was very well maintained, could be hiked with an infant on your back. There is however a small stream to cross, very small, and they were nice enough to put concrete stepping stones. With that in mind I wouldn't recommend this place for anyone with any form of walking impairment. At the end of the short 15 min walk is a small pool of water and a pretty waterfall to enjoy, this is not Shoshone so don't expect anything that spectacular. If your feeling extra adventurous there are plenty of auxiliary trails to hike around on and little caves and nooks all over to explore. I say this is perfect for families because of its simplicity and closeness to boise. There is no playground here, bouncy house, wifi or any of that, so if your children need constant stimulation besides enjoying an adventure through a small canyon to a waterfall, then this is not the place for you. My son however loved it, and had a great time. Oh and for the trash i read about in everyone elses post, we didnt see a single piece, the area looked very well kept.

Beautiful Falls. Walking into the Falls is in and out whether you access the lower path or upper path. The west rim trail can be a loop encountering hills and valleys.

Jump creek is a really fun place to bring your family. If you want an easy hike (my four year daughter did it) with beautiful Idaho scenery, and a georgious end of the trail, then visit jump creek. Bring a sack lunch and enjoy some food with your feet in the cold springs water.

There is also a more difficult hike for more experienced hikers. It goes up and around and you can get a great view of the falls (the harder isn't how to get to the falls and pool, just a great view and workout)

There is a bathroom, but no running water.

It's a great time, but leave by 9 pm, or you wilk get a $150 ticket ( my friend just got one).

I love going to Jump Creek to hike with my friends. There are a number if different trails to go to exciting give you a great scenic view no matter what. As with most places, the best times to go are during spring and fall.

Great quick and easy hike into a small swimming hole with a great waterfall. Just an hour from Meridian, it's a must visit. There's usually a few people there. Great place to bring in lunch. Facilities and a parking lot at the trail head.

A short (0.6 mile) hike from the lower parking lot over mostly easy retain will get you to one amazing view. Great for kids with lots of places to explore. The recreation area has picnic tables and bathrooms are available/open seasonally. Definitely a place to visit. The drive can be long at over an hour from Boise and about one hour from North Meridian and Eagle. Worth it. On your way back schedule time to grab lunch or dinner from The Orchard House.

A nice short hike along jump creek leading to the falls. This is a highly trafficked area and constantly had groups of teenagers hanging around. If you want to get away from others, seek another trail in the Owyhees.

Very fun hike to a gorgeous waterfall. High traffic area when we went. Water was to cold to get in for me. Would definetly go back.

A genuinely beautiful place to spend the day hiking. The scenery is gorgeous regardless of the weather too. The main path down towards the waterfall is easy to make. If you have young kids or a dog, it should be relatively easy to manage.

If you plan on swimming in the water though, be warned it's freezing!

An easy trail for all types and kiddos. I have been taking all 3 of my kids here for many years. We go at least 4 times a year and it such a beautiful getaway! Best time (If you can) is to go on a week day because it can get crowded quickly.

If you don't mind a little bit of a drive for a simple short hike to a waterfall, this is the place to go! The hike is beautiful with a lot of geological interest. The reward is the waterfall and small pool at the end of the hike. A lot of people visit and even pack in their lawn chairs and coolers so don't expect to be alone. There is also additional longer hiking options above the falls.

This is a fantastic short little hike following a cool little desert creek. The falls are really cool and following the trail up and above the falls leads to some cool stuff above the fall, but I'll leave that to you to explore. There are fish in the creek, but don't expect to catch anything longer than 6 inches. It's also often quite difficult to access the creek because of the heavy brush and thick foliage, so unless you're ready for a challenge, as far as fishing goes, just go for a cool hike.
