Obviously the most hated profession on the planet. I give the office max rating for doing that job with good attitudes and fast, friendly help. The times I've had to call in, they were able to resolve my issues quickly and concisely.

Always friendly and happy to answer questions. Those of you hating on these reviews must not have ever lived in a larger county. Good luck getting this service at Fairfax County or similar.

We had a good experience with the Personal Property Tax Office because of the excellent customer service provided by Kendall S. Graves. What a pleasure!

I called to ask a question and was hung up on before I could finish my sentence. Very rude.
However, the 3 stars are because when I called back, I received the help I needed.

Where customer service goes to die... Even their former employees give them only a "two-star" rating, so who am I to disagree?

Where a two-year old vehicle is assessed at a higher value than the price of a new one.

Where the staff quote the NADA Used Car Guide as if it were case law.

Where your experience as a taxpayer is inconsequential, because there is no accountability. Just shut-up and pay.

Where the staff have been highly effective in discouraging any and all forms of communication from the taxpayer.

This is how stupid the county is. A person owes 60 in taxes, they forgot about it and they want to garnish the persons pay and charge a 30.00 fee or take them to court? So the county is willing to fork out more money than what taxes are owed. Let's be honest some people are more behind than 4 months and aren't threatened with garnishment. Is this because it's a new name in the system? I know the county isn't hurting for money. What if that was all the money a person had to feed their family. I could see if a person was a year past due but come on spotsy.

I called because I haven’t been getting charged property tax on a vehicle I purchased. They gave me attitude, told me I was suppose to call them when I buy a car and that the DMV doesn’t let them know (yet they told me exactly what car I drive, so how did they know?). This is after they spoke to me like an idiot for calling them if I didn’t get anything in the mail, I guess I am. No good deed goes unpunished. Now they told me to call tomorrow to find out how much they want to charge me, I do everything for them except set the price. Have no control when the government has all the power, can just treat people like absolute trash and they have no other option, quality.

They garnish your entire paycheck not caring about how you and your family would eat ur pay rent but when they over charge you they take their good time to pay you back can you imagine this nonsense

Spotsylvania has poor infrastructure and cost of living is high in VA in comparison to a large portion of america. With all this money they're raking in and the questionable infrastructure one would think they'd have enough money left over for quality service but that is far from the case. There also seems to be bit of an attitude issue when asked about tax rates and concerns. Employees also seem to limited in there knowledge causing a lot transfers and wasted time.

Overall a bad tax setup with poor service

I moved from Spotyslvania almost a year ago and they keep trying to charge me property taxes even though they are sending me mail TO ANOTHER STATE where my address is CLEARLY visible. So you've gotten my change of address request just fine yet you STILL think I live in Spotsylvania? They're all a bunch of thieves.

The treasurers office is full of thieves! Even though They made 750 million last year in revenues. They will squeeze every last cent from the tax payer even if it's not owed to them. There's no recourse since it's the fing GOVERNMENT. A bunch of knaves sitting there, they hang up phones and don't respond to emails. Keep chasing taxes where none owed, making me pay taxes when i don't live in spotsylvania. Hang up on you and don't respond to requests, thieves! I hope they all getfired for their abominable lousy behaviour towards tax payers, larry pritchett and his flunkies need to go!

This place is criminal and should be audited. They charge ridiculous rates for personal property tax and refuse to be understanding when working with citizens. I don’t even live in the state and they continue to collect taxes. Where does all this tax money go??? The roads in Spotsy are sad, commerce is lacking with people driving north/south for all needs and the crime is high. Again, where does all this money go and where are the audits?

The staff get upset when you question an Extremely High balance for two vehicles.If they received an Audit (Which they should)they would be required to give all supporting documents.We would understand, yes we owe something but how do we owe almost $1,000 for a year & a half how? Something needs to be done Mr Larry Pritchett!! Ty

If you have any questions , save yourself the headache and just repeat I am sorry for the confusion to yourself 60 times .

It’s far more productive than calling and speaking to any of these seat fillers .

Very poor attitude over the phone and not helpful at all. A lot of time on hold and transferring calls.

No contact over phone customer service

They are all so rude and have no compassion at all. Literally have never had a good experience when dealing with these people.
