Virginia Rep at Hanover Tavern

We went on Friday night to see playwright Ken Ludwig's "Baskerville". Wonderful production with such a professional ensemble of actors. They pulled-off the satire with great fun and talent. Excellent venue with superb lighting and sound.

We were just there for dinner, and the food was spectacular. The restaurant and attached theater were built in the 1700s, and frequented by the likes of Washington, Madison and others of our founding fathers. If you go there to eat, ask for our favorite server, Lisa.

Amazing food! The She Crab soup was to die for. The food was so incredibly fresh. My large group didn't wait for long to be served either. There were 6 of us and everything came out nice and hot, or cold..., but as it should be. I will definitely go back when I'm in the area!

We always enjoy going to the Tavern, parts of the building dating back to the 1700's! Delicious foods and drinks, and the theater 🎭 is very comfortable with excellent performances throughout the year! Check the schedule for bands and special events occurring often.

They did a fantastic job with Steel Magnolias. All of the actors were very talented. You do have to wear a mask in the theater.

Nice theater. Not really any bad seats. If you are tall (I'm 5'9" average build) you might be a little uncomfortable in seats. But every play I've been to has been entertaining, enjoyable. I've not eaten at restaurant but looks like it would be a nice experience.

This is a charming restaurant, bar, and theater. There are many levels in the facility. The food is good and the staff members are respectful. My wife and I have had dinner here a few times. We have also enjoyed a matinee or two. There is plenty of parking. If you are looking for a place where locals go, then here it is.

This was our first time to Hanover Tavern to eat and see a play - Crimes of the Heart. Brunch was really good, and the play - WOW! I always marvel at the actors abilities, and the sets. We've been to the November Theater several times, but it's just nice to drive through the country (from Moseley) to Ashland and have such a treat at Hanover. We'll be back!

What an amazing intimate experience! Dinner was amazing and the cast and production of "Da" far exceeded our expectations of a small "local" theater. If you have the opportunity to take a "drive out into the country", you owe it to yourself to have dinner and see a performance at theTavern!

Excellent American restaurant above the theater. Menu is not extensive but all the favorites are there. Attentive, professional service, food was perfectly prepared and served timely. Highly recommend with or without theater tickets!

Virginia Rep performances at Barksdale Theater are always superb! The theater is intimate & I love the closeness to the action on stage. Productions are very professional in every area. If you have never been to Barksdale, you must go.

Always an excellent time seeing live theatre at historic Hanover Tavern with Virginia Repertory Theatre's amazing productions.

Always Patsy Cline was a wonderful tribute to Patsy. Smaller, intimate theater felt like being at a party with Patsy.
