FDR overlook & favorite picnic spot

It was very peaceful, beautiful and just tranquil. I would definitely like to see it again. Have a go for yourselves.

Stunning panoramic view of the mountains. Accessible and easy to drive directly to the view. Picnic tables and other options to enjoy the view just like FDR. Trail head starts here for the 4.3 mile loop. The trail is well maintained and blazed, moderate, and has beautiful views, waterfalls, and wildlife along the way.

Beautiful view of the mountains at the scenic overlook. Lots of picnic tables. Next time we'll bring a picnic. It's plain to see why FDR loved visiting here and enjoying a picnic from time to time. A quiet place to reflect on life.

I absolutely loved hiking Dowdell's Knob for my birthday. It's a beautiful, fairly easy trail to trek, narrow in some points and rocky in others, and fairly secluded. I even saw a baby nope rope (snake) on the road as I walked back to my car. Great day! 😎

We were on our way to Callaway Gardens when we saw FDR State Park!! We stopped to see the State Park! It was amazing!!! Gladnwe did!!!

This is a great overlook! It's understandable why it was FDR's favorite place for a picnic.

Our visit to here was an unplanned, impromptu day date... it was very scenic and quiet. Beautiful weather added to the gorgeous view that I never knew about. Very glad we ventured off the beaten path to see some of the beauty in our own area and learned some history at the same time!

As always it was an enjoyable experience. Park staff and rangers are always great. Clean and beautiful.

Such a beautiful place to take the family or just visit for some peace and quiet. While we were there we saw a family having family photos taken and I thought that was a lovely idea, those photos will have a beautiful backdrop.

Great park and close to parks and tourist sites like littke white house a d overlooks of the area, Dont forget wild safari which is great as well.

Great place to just get away from everything.

Beautiful views. Good parking, several shades picnic tables and lots of hiking trails nearby.

Lovely view and just a very seren place to relax and meditate. No wonder FDR came here (and near by Warm Springs) and fell in love with southern ga & the southern states charm.

A beautiful place to enjoy nature. The view is spectacular! There's a bronze statue of Franklin D. Roosevelt sitting on the top where he used to like & have picknicks. Further down there's a stone & cement grill. Dowdells Knob is the highest point in Harris Co. It's a really majestic place, calm & quite.

Amazing view!!! We went there to enjoy fall colors. Plenty of parking spots.

This spot will make you stop all you are doing and thinking.... Just to take a breath and remember to relax and enjoy all in your life.

Fantastic view. I can see why FDR liked to come here to contemplate life and the world around him. It is very peaceful.
