Gladys Kitchen

This was my first time here as it was recommended by coworkers. I have to say that this place serves simple, yet delicious southern comfort food. I had fried chicken, cubed steak (chicken fried steak), cream potatoes (mashed potatoes), and cornbread. Additionally, I had the butter roll for dessert - think custard cobbler. The meal was absolutely delicious and definitely filling. I would recommend this to ANYONE within a couple of hundred miles.

Wherever you are in the World, find a way to get to Gladys. Its fantastic!!! The food and the people. This place is clean. The food is hot. Did I say delicious??? We love this place. People were lined up before it opened. Try the smothered anything. Cheese broccoli casserole. Don't forget - you can't leave without the butterball dessert. I'm telling you! Don't leave without trying it. !!!

Like a step back in time to when people knew how to home cook everything! I had a whole fried catfish, fried green tomatoes, and beans and peas. Yum!
My husband had fried chicken, dressing, and turnip greens.
Everything was delicious! But the thing that beat them all was the
butter roll. No it is not bread. It is their signature dessert! Don’t pass it up just because you are stuffed. Take some with you! Everyone was so friendly and the service was great! Don’t miss this treasure!

Absolutely loved the food! The smothered pork is amazing! The butter roll with ice cream topped the cake! It was sweet and the ice cream complimented the dish so well and it was a very good portion.

Cozy, clean, and wonderfully friendly with some of the best fried green tomatoes I've ever eaten! My daughter and I stopped in after visiting GA Southwestern campus, and I do believe the warmth of all at Gladys Kitchen has helped her to make a decision to attend GSW. They even saved a to-go order we had accidently left on the table. I returned, intending to purct9hase a new order, but to my surprise, they recognized me and had my bag waiting in the back. So very refreshing to find that kind of service

Excellent place to dine when you're craving some deep south "ain't yo momma's" style southern cuisine! Fried chicken, greens, fried green tomatoes, patty cornbread, and DO NOT pass in the famous butter roll! Awesome staff and atmosphere that make you feel like you're at a homecoming.

It was my first time eating here with BFF and let me tell you great customer service, the food was absolutely great it's a second time around going there again.

If you are a local, this review is not for you, because you already know. If you are passing through Americus, GA and are planning on eating at any time today, DO NOT pass Gladys Kitchen. I was looking for a local spot for lunch and pulled into the first place I saw-Restarante Mexico. Seeing as I'm on my way to New Mexico, I pulled back out and found Gladys waiting for me just down the road. I was hoping for Southern home cooking and hit the jackpot. Homemade fried chicken was amazing! My sides were black eyed peas and cabbage and oh so good. A yankee like me has never seen a flat cornbread muffin and I will forever search for one as good as this. How can one resist peach cobbler in Georgia? I did not and am very glad about that. The only problem here is that I couldn't try everything. Cubed steak or chicken-n-noodles were the other mains, and I bet they were every bit as good as the chicken. Sides? Same story. Mac-n-cheese, rice & gravy, and fried okra all made me wish I could come back. It's cafeteria style so it's served hot and fast, dine in or to go. Do not make a mistake and go to any chain restaurant in town because you will have missed out on awesome Souther home cookin'!

Hands down the best comfort food I have ever eaten . We are from Tuscaloosa AL. Working in Buena Vista and drove 45 minutes to eat here . The flavors the comfort the atmosphere is amazing .

Friendly staff, excellent food! Go here almost every time I come back home. Don't be afraid of the long lines. It's worth it and goes by pretty fast. Closest thing to home cooked soul food.

GREAT meat and three places. The cube steak was great. They have blackberry cobbler on Fri and Sunday too. I drove almost and hour to give them a try.
