This was the best crab I’ve ever had in my life. I got the low country boil and it was plenty of food, had lots of leftovers. Chef Jerome treated us like family. The hush puppies were amazing.

Is this place for all people nope, as some people are just too uptight to understand what this place is or why the food is the way it is. It is the Chefs home and how he wants to cook the food and yes you should also trust the Chef as the food is great and he will not let you down.

Sad that so many places like this are gone nowadays.

Called ahead for an early Sunday dinner for 6 people. Chef Jerome greeted us with warm hugs and set the tone for a memorable, fun, and unique evening! The food was outstanding and service felt like you were home. The decor is wacky, neat, funny, and eclectic. He brought us sweet potato fries to try and, when he realized my 5 year old son loved his hush puppies, he immediately went back and made him more :) left with full stomachs and take out boxes. we will definitely be back!

Not your typical restaurant by any means, definitely a 'hole in the wall' but upon entering, you are immediately greeted by a friendly gentleman that welcomes you like you're royalty. The chef makes an appearance to ensure that you are satisfied and makes a warm and heartfelt introduction. Food..... amazing!!! Everything tasted wonderful. Thousands of pictures from many years of memories on the wall. Will definitely return and visit my new family 💜

I am in love with this place. Everything about it was perfect. Hush puppies, fried shrimp, cold slaw, fries, ribs, and the service over the top. Will be my new favorite spot!!!

Mom, my sister and I took a ride down to Harris Neck today in McIntosh county. We stopped to have lunch down at the Old School diner around 11:45 while we were in the area. It's quite a different place. Don't be scared of the location or the look of the outside. Apparently the chef started the place in his house and has expanded over the years. Eclectic decor is a very underrated description (not a bad thing in this case). We were the only ones there, and the chef came out and greeted us as literal family and was very personable. We were told he mingles with the guests all the time, and he knows most of his customers by name. I asked him what was fresh, and he replied "I'm peeling shrimp right now". I asked where they were from and he said he picked them up off the boat that morning in Darien (20 miles away). That settled it, we were having shrimp. My mom and I got the smaller portion of fried shrimp, and my sister ordered the grilled. They brought out a basket of hush puppies while we waited. They were huge and crunchy on the outside and sweet and cake-like inside. They were not greasy at all. Our lunch portion came with sixteen lightly coated shrimp and cole slaw. My sister ordered a side of sweet potato fries. These things were logs that were lightly battered, super sweet, and pillowy soft. The cinnamon butter for dipping was delicious. The meals are on the pricier side, but you get what you pay for, and I'd gladly pay $22 for 16 perfectly cooked shrimp, dessert worthy hush puppies, and personal attention. We were told that on Saturday nights the place gets busy, and the chef brings his parrot out to chill with the guests while he does his thing. I can't wait to see that. On the way home my 90 year old mother said she would like to come back, and that is the only endorsement I need. Update 10June2023. A group of us went again and the chef did not disappoint. Out of everything ordered the crispy scored flounder won best of show. Big enough for 4 people

The food was delicious and fresh cooked. Will definitely be back again. Chef Jerome was very nice and welcoming. Definitely a place worth checking out. Hubby had the steak and loved it, he ate more in one sitting than I've seen in a long time. I had the fried shrimp which had a delicious batter on them and were fried perfectly. The hush puppies were great!
I broke my own rule and showed up there exactly 30 minutes before they closed, but they never acted in any manner to make me feel as though I needed to hurry up to order or eat, didnt hurry us by giving us the bill early or anything you would expect when people are ready to finish their shift and head home.

Ok, so this place looks questionable from the outside, not going to lie, but don't skip out on this hidden treasure! The chef greeted us when we pulled into the lot with his macaw, and said we were going to be blown away. He wasn't wrong. The service was so welcoming and enjoyable. Everything was amazing! We talked with others who were dining in and had a great time. Everything that everyone ordered looked fantastic and there was nothing negative anyone had to say about their orders. Seriously, you NEED to eat here. Everybody's family ❤❤❤

OMG! What can I say! This little place is truly UNIQUE and a jewel. I am not going to lie, it looks a little skeptical when arriving, but we were optimistic. It's really like a old school home. "Grandma's country home". Chef Jerome is so very personable. He sits down at the table with you and hug you when you arrive. He's like oh I'm gonna cook it up. The waitress Tammy was helpful and very polite. We Ordered the "Wheelchair" for 7 people and it was so much food. The food came out HOT and FRESH! Let me tell you their hushpuppies are so damn good. And the sweet potato boats. I will be going back and I'm taking even more family members. This is a great Sunday Dinner spot. We came from Savannah GA and the ride was not bad at all.

I had been wanting to go for quite some time and finally made it out there tonight. It was nothing like I expected it to be. Very unique atmosphere and the food was AMAZING!! The Chef met us out front and showed us where we could park (right by the door because it was raining) Our waitress was Tammy and she was great. This place is a true gem!

On yesterday was my birthday and I was truly honored to have shared it with Chef Jerome B. and his staff. From the time that we pulled up until the time that we left, I felt the love and warmth in the air. The food was dynamic, our waitress was awesome. This is truly a restaurant that I would recommend everyone and their mother to go to and share the same experience that my family and I enjoyed.

Our first time visiting this unique restaurant and after getting our food, I was wishing we had stumbled upon it sooner. The food is amazing, fresh and hot. The stuffed flounder is out of this world. Chef Jerome and his staff are just as amazing as the food. If you’re in the area I suggest giving them a try. Don’t be discouraged by the look of the building, it’s Old School Diner.

This is a wonderful place for seafood and barbeque. It is a little bit off the beaten path, but it is worth it. Don't get scared away by the outside appearance, the food is excellent. You get plenty if you get the wheelchair platter. We had hushpuppies, coleslaw, potato salad, mac and cheese, fish, shrimp, ribs. We will be back and bring friends!

We consider ourselves foodies. This is the BEST food we’ve had in a long time! Great service! Seafood cooked perfectly. Ribs fell off the bone. Took me back to my grandmas kitchen.

This place is absolutely a hidden gem and warrants any “out of the way” side trip to dine here!!! Glad I live close enough to dine there more often! Chef Jerome is as real and authentic as they come!!!

Wheel Chair platter for 1 is over the top delicious and is of course “old school”!! ALWAYS TRUST THE CHEF, you won’t regret it!!

Don’t let the address fool you, pull right up and enjoy being another member of the family!!
