Jean Cafe - Noodle Bowl Chinese

Went to Jean Café Noodle Bowls, Chinese and more over in Stark Vegas for the first time yesterday. It's a little, literal mom-n-pop place just off the second 182 exit, in the old Waffle House location (next to a hotel and a gas station, across from Ford). "Mama," the proprietress, is very friendly - and talkative! She and her hubby have been running this place since at least the 1960's (having moved shop at least once), she'll be glad to tell you all about it! :)

I got some perfect pepper beef with a nice, savory sauce, and their famous cheese wontons with some of the best sweet & sour sauce I've ever tasted! Even the egg roll was good - and I don't usually eat egg rolls ;) Well worth the trip from Columbus, and I'd say it beats any similar places we have locally!

Definitely a great place to go. Mama Jean told me she had a previous location, decided to retire, but opened up again after public demand. The Sweet and sour sauce is known as magic sauce here and her cheese ragoons are awesome. More crunch than soggy cheese. I loved her egg rolls!! The chicken and sauce was great.

My boyfriend and I were really interested in eating here after reading all the reviews. I have to say, the Sesame Chicken and Cheese Wontons were super good (MUST TRY!) and Mama Jean was both quirky and sweet. :-) Definitely recommend eating here!

Wonderful authentic food! Dine in or call in for takeout. They make every single thing there from scratch and it's all delicious. The cream cheese wontons are the best I've ever had, and if you don't order them... you're wrong. Mama Jean is so sweet and runs such a nice clean restaurant

Wonderful service!! Mama Jean definitely takes the time to welcome you into her restaurant and let you know she really cares. Food was wonderful and well priced. Won tons are a must! A home away from home for college kids whose families might be far away.

Food was absolutely amazing! Everything is cooked fresh and better than you would do it at home if you knew how to cook this good! Mama Jean will literally treat you like you are in her own home, so do not come if you are in a rush, this is not that kind of restaurant. If you are in need of the best homemade Chinese comfort food, and a good laugh, come and sit down with Mama Jean! A must have if you in Starkville!

Mama Jean is such a beautiful, sweet lady. I had the Mongolian Beef... absolutely delicious!! This was the most tender and flavorful Mongolian Beef I have ever had! And of course... the Cheese Wonton. You must try the Cheese Wonton!! I highly recommend Jean Cafe!!!

The restaurant is clean the food is hot and good for Mississippi. It not the best Chinese food I have ever had but you would haft to go to China for that. Some people will not like how much the owner talks but most people would rather stare at there phone than to talk to a human. The price of the food is not great but with Biden as your president you asked for stupid high inflation. The atmosphere is not going to win you over I mean it's an old waffle house and never have I been like that dragon statue would look good in my living room. The cheese things I have never had one until I came here so I can't tell you if they're good or not. She moved from HongKong to Mississippi now Mississippi is already boring enough talk to the lady and have an experience.

I'm a huge supporter of small businesses. It was nice to hear the college students and community loves the food and the family atmosphere. The entrees that requires batter is done with a lighter batter allowing you to enjoy the actual meal choice🤗
Side bar I enjoy sprinkling love to others and was in AWE to have someone bless us with the sprinkle....thank you Mr. W😇

The owner is very kind loves sharing stories. The food is very fresh and absolutely delicious. If you live in Starkville and haven't been to Mama Jean's, then you are missing out.

Where do I start? This is a small Chinese restaurant, but it has more to give than most. Mama Jean is great! She had wonderful stories to tell and was so kind durning our visit. Unlike most host that just bring you food and bill, Mama Jean made us feel at home. The cheese wontons were so good! They had the perfect amount of cheese and breading. Oh my goodness dipping wontons into the Magic Liquid Gold, takes your breath away. She makes everything from scratch. Typically Chinese food all taste exactly them same. Mama Jean makes her food with a dose of originality.
She makes it her way. It has a different and better taste! Her sweet tea is wonderful as well. Not to sweet, just right. If I could put into words how wonderful this visit was, I would. I highly recommend everyone to at least give it a try. I will be going back!

Best food you will ever have your whole life. You have to have the cheese wonton!! It is the best thing in the world. Best of all, mama Jean is so wonderful!!!!

If you are in Starkville and don't come to eat here you are missing out.

AMAZING. Must get the wontons, even if you normally do not like them, try mama Jean's! Also, try the egg rolls. I have never been a fan, but these are so different and taste delicious with the magic sauce! She may talk to you through your meal with her quaint stories, but its an experience worth it!

"Mama Jean " is the best. She treats you like family. She don't meet strangers. The food is A-1. Oh my God the cheese wontons are the best. Chowmein is spectacular. Heck everything is the best Chinese you will ever find. Cant say enough other than "MUST TRY"!!!!!!!!!!!

My husband and I always order the Mongolian beef when we come here. Everything is so flavorful, and they have the best tasting egg rolls in town.

This restraunt is the best traditional Chinese restraunt. I fell in love with the wontons. Also the cashier is so nice and makes me smile! I came twoce in 10 minutes. So great :)

The service was great... Food is great... Makes me feel at home... So good I came 10 min right after I ate and got some more... The decorations are beautiful.

The food is amazing! Mama Jean is a bit talkative especially about her Wontons, but it is so worth it.
