Very interesting small little place. The trails are short and very easy. There are boardwalks and a small bird blind. Although I heard a few birds, they weren't anything special and I didn't see any birds in the bird blind (although it might've been because it was raining nearby). There are areas of dead water where the water washes inland be gets stuck there after the tire recedes but the view of the lake is quiet nice. Not worth spending more than a hour here but is an amazing quick visit!

The ANWR Visitor Center provides maps amid other information to help guide you. If you're lucky enough, you'll get to speak with friendly, knowledgeable staff who can answer many questions. However, please be aware that the visitor center is about 10 miles away from the actual refuge. Nevertheless, it's certainly worth driving the few extra miles.

Great visitor center, the ladies working there was great and helped us with information on how to visit the park. Got a small aquarium, movie room, and a gift shop inside with quality items. Easy walk in the back, with a lot of spiders

HUGE place, so much to see, can fish, see tons of birds, can get out and hike or stay in the car and still see tons. We also found the burrowing owl (staff was super friendly and helpful in directing us to him!). Highly recommend.

The trail off the building is easy and mostly shaded. That boardwalk is majestic. I never expected such a beautiful view, I felt like I was in a Louisiana swamp. Enjoyed seeing ALL the wildlife. Birds, fish, and the coolest tadpoles ever! 😁

Really neat put stop, but beware of some insane spiders that are all over the path. Cute boardwalk with lots of tree cover leading out to a gorgeous view of the lake. Lots of info available outside, but there was only a port-o-potty available when we stopped so prepare for that or stop somewhere else.

The airboat simulator was pretty cool. Felt like we were really in an airboat.

Somewhat remote, but well worth a trip if you're a birder. Visited in February 2017. The 2.5 mile loop drive around shoveler pond was resplendent with diverse beautiful waterfowl.

Beautifully maintained nature walk near the tiny town Anahuac. There is a nature center on site though it was closed when we visited. Clean restrooms available. The admission and parking is free.

Thank you for taking care of this. Who ever clears out the spider webs you are a Saint. Those spiders are pretty cool to see but I am glad they are out of the way.
