This is one of my favorite little parks on Lake Whitney. The sand beach is wonderful and the spots for RVs are always full because they don't put them on top of each other but are spaces throughout the park.

The trails for horses are also decent for walking.

My only complaint is during summer season it's insanely busy and I like it so much during the off season when there's almost nobody else there.

Always clean and mowed. Basic essentials for easy camping: covered picnic table, fire ring, grill, running water, and nearby restrooms. All with a nearby boat ramp.

We camped (site 60) here two times (October and December) and had a great time. The shower/bathroom/trash area is close by. It is not crowded, and the environment is clean. Pups had a great time swimming. There are horse stalls, boat ramp, hiking areas, swimming area, playground, grills... Our camp site had water, picnic table, and a beautiful view. It is pretty easy to book online, pay, and check in. Gate closes at 10 pm and opens around 6 am. We will come back again :)

Very clean, I pick up trash when I see it but it's rather rare. It's clear people respect the land. Ran into many friendly folks on the beach, who were so nice even when the elderly dog in our group kept coming over to them. Great park.

Our family loves McCown Valley. We have gone for years with some great memories with our little ones. They grow up quick, take them camping!

Using the app it was very easy to setup our reservations. This made check in even smoother.

The camp grounds and facilities were very clean and in good working conditions. We had a waterfront non electric campsite. We had a water faucet next to our pavilion which was great for washing hands and cooking utensils.

The park rangers strictly enforce and uphold reservations which is great if you plan ahead your trip like we did. We had 3 spots next to eachother and consistently had people trying to setup in our areas. It was annoying but they understood that we had prior reservations.

Make sure to have a reservations if you plan on wanting your own designated area.

For some odd reason people on boats try to land and setup infront of campsites via the water, it was very odd but annoying if you are planning on bank fishing.

Campsite 51 to 53 has a really sand beach that gradually gets deeper. We setup some chairs in the water and started casting. Great spot to try your luck and stay cool in the sun.

Nice place to sleep close to a few of my hunting spots!

Went back the following weekend and there where other campers in the spot I had reserved already had there camper set up and lounging, it was a simple scheduling error on the website the couple had thought they booked 2 nights but mistakenly had only selected 1.

The park manager figured out What was going on and got us upgraded to the equestrian area at no extra charge which will be my new site selection going forward as it's beautiful on that side of the park.

Very large, beautiful lake!!! Great camping sites. Most within walking distance to the swimming beach. Had a great time with my family. Large picnic areas. Great for fishing, boating, relaxing! It was quiet and peaceful. Best to go view your site in person before booking. Easy to book online. Not expensive.

We buy a season pass and take the kids throughout the year. Great place for family. Wish it had a hiking trail, I'll settle for a garbage can by the castle playground, there isn't one nearby and I always pick up a bag full everytime we go.
