Stillwater Inn

We are moving out of the city of Jefferson and this will definitely be one of the places we will miss the most. People drive from all over to experience The Stillwater Inn and for good reason. You can't find this quality if fine dining within a 100 mile radius. The food is absolutely delicious with an incredible ambiance and wonderful service, this is truly a five star dining experience. The lighting is not the most friendly for taking good pictures but hopefully my pictures are good enough to give you an idea of what you may experience. And most importantly, do yourselves a favor and order the Concord Cake for dessert. It's out of this world!!!!!

Such an amazing experience! This place is a gem! Great food and great service! Certainly made our anniversary getaway that much more special! I had the Filet Mignon and my husband had the Pecan Crusted Trout. We both had potatoes au gratin and a side of Mac and cheese with panchetta. Dessert was Limoncello and a Chocolate Mousse Meringue cake with whipped topping and almonds Wonderful!

This would be an excellent restaurant in any city, but it happens to be in Jefferson, TX. Let me break it down.

The place: An 1890’s house is perfect for a restaurant in this town of Victorian homes. It’s very tastefully decorated and minimalist. The dining rooms are smaller, since the layout of the old house remains. This makes it feel intimate. They also have a bar which only prepares drinks for diners.

The food: The menu is sufficiently creative while covering a variety of proteins and delicious sides. I opened with a goat cheese salad and was not disappointed (every inch of the salad was dressed with the sweet vinaigrette, but it was still deliciously light). I ordered the trout and my dining partner had the massive pork chop that was the night’s special. The house side of sweet potato puree was world class, and we both enjoyed our dishes very much.

The prices: Expect to spend what any good restaurant will cost you. Our meal cost about $100 per person, but without the bottle of wine you should be able to keep it to about $75 per person. It’s pricey for every day, but really worth trying when you have something to celebrate…or when you want the best meal in the county.

The service: Our waiter’s name was David, and he was an excellent waiter. He was on top of every detail all evening, and he knew the menu very well. He came by at least 4 times during our meal. With staff like David, the service will be a positive memory of any dinner here.

Summary: Deserves the 5 stars, even when compared to upscale restaurants in “the city.” Fair prices, great service, food, and ambience for a gourmet dining restaurant. If you’re a tourist in Jefferson, like we were, you should definitely check it out.

Super good food perfectly prepared and presented. Two of our group split the ribeye and couldn't eat it all! One has shrimp scampi and ate it all! One had the trout and are half! Dessert was exquisite; cheesecake and baked mousse. Our server was outstanding!! Casual excellence.

We came back during our second visit to Jefferson. Food is superb, wine list is very good, and service is tops. Definitely on my recommended list for fine French cuisine dining in the city.

Quality prepared food. Have never been disappointed in taste & texture. Prices are at a premium, but a great place for a special occassion/event or simply when you want to take your significant other for a fine meal and enjoy an elegant evening. Staff is friendly and accommodating.
The location itself is an old home built circa 1893, and the craftsmanship of the building itself is evident. The grounds are pleasing, and an easy to find place.
Overall, I have never heard of someone being disappointed in their dining experience at this restaurant, so definitely worth the trip to have dinner with family, friends, or simply a date with your love.

On the heals of a European vacation filled with amazing food, we were looking for a restaurant that looked to quality and not necessarily quantity. Stillwater Inn brought us back to the beautifully prepared meals of France. The quality is incredible. The service is impeccable. And the atmosphere is warm and comfortable. We’ll be back!

Stillwater Inn is my favorite restaurant for many reasons. My meal Saturday night was perfection! The cream of Asparagus soup was a first and was awesome! Pork tenderloin was perfection, and chocolate mousse was again a perfect ending! The Stewart's are great people and provide top quality service in an elegant, relaxed atmosphere. I am ready to dine again.

The best place for dinner in Jefferson! It was hard to choose, everything sounded delicious. We chose the leek and spinach soup, the duck breast and rack of lamb. We chose wisely! They have a full bar and a great bartender also. Our server, Eric, was awesome. We will be back next time we are in Jefferson.

The food is devine. The setting is quiet and intimate. When you're eating you can tell the food has never been frozen. It's fresh. The cocktails are the bomb and well made. No watered down alcohol here. Not to mention you can conveniently text for reservations!I will definitely be back.

My mother, daughter, and I dined here for my birthday last month. It was FABULOUS!! They each had the lamb and I had the duck. While the cost is more than your average restaurant, this dining establishment is ALSO MORE than your average dining!! The staff were excellent, the food superb!! My husband and I are planning a weekend trip to Jefferson for valentines this year and will definitely be hoping to get reservations here!! SOOOO looking forward to it!!

This is a must when visiting Jefferson. Everything I had was wonderful, escargot and the duck confit. The dining areas are in quaint settings arranged throughout an old Victorian home. This place is elegant and romantic. We had a group of 9 people and we were all served at the same time with no mix-ups or incorrect orders. Great experience! We started with the goat cheese stuffed Portobello mushrooms. Even if you’re not a big mushroom fan, order it anyway. It’s a taste of Heaven We’re from Dallas in the middle of all the big name 5-Star steak houses, and after frequenting Del Friscos, Bob’s Steak & Chop house, Papas Brother’s, Three Forks, Morton’s and so many others, we wanted to try something a little different especially after all the raving reviews about Stillwater Inn. Our typical steaks of choice is the bone in rib-eye, but we decided to try the filets with the mushroom bordelaise sauce, which was a nice change of pace, as I could cut it with a butter knife with ease. Their aging process gives their steaks the best crust I’ve tasted yet. We also had the goat cheese salad which was perfect before our steaks arrived. For dessert we had their Limoncello which was remarkable! I’d go again just to have their Limoncello, as I’ve never tasted anything like it. Great food, good service and excellent ambiance.

My wife and I try to stay at the bed and breakfast cottage at least once a year and we always eat at the restaurant. They have never failed to disappoint with their changing menu and the utmost quality of their food. They only serve the highest quality ingredients with a top notch chef creating awesomeness.

Not a finer restaurant in Jefferson.

We stopped by for dessert and were blown away. We had the frozen lemon dessert and the chocolate meringue and mousse dessert. Both were phenomenal. Can't wait to go back and get a meal!

Great friendly waitstaff, fantastic food. Went for my birthday. Food & wine kept coming. They allowed us to stay a little later than closing instead of rushing us out. We were spoiled!
