Ste. Genevieve - Modoc River Ferry

Quite impressed with this river-crossing service! It offers a seamless way to transport your car across the river with speed and affordability. Great ferry ride. Service was fast and deckhand was friendly. We were the only vehicle on board so we were able to get out and walk around while crossing.

Something different. Nice way to cut right into St Genevieve . Sometimes the ferry is on the other side of the river so not always the quickest route .
Awesome to see first hand the power of the river and the skill of the captain navigating the current

Witnessed the totality on April 8th, 2024, and took the ferry across afterward. Great Service.

When my brother and his family lived in Ste. Genevieve at the time, he took me on a tour of the town, and this is one of the spots he wanted to show me. This spot was the first time I ever stood right next to the Mississippi River. We drove to the ferry landing so he could show me the ferry boat although we didn't get on it. The ferry boat was pretty small, and he informed me that the river's current is very strong and one cannot just steer across the river since the current would only push the boat downstream. The ferry operator would steer the boat upstream against the current at a certain speed (not too fast, and not too slow) while slowly moving the boat over on its starboard side until he is able to dock the boat on the other side of the river. Very interesting learning how this ferry runs, since I didn't realize the strength of the river's current! It was then I fully understood why they called it "The Mighty Mississippi".

Great Little Ferry crossing the Mississippi River. I think it was 25 or $30 for round trip. Going from Fort De Chartres to St. Genevieve is a real treat anyway. Going on this tiny ferry from Illinois to Missouri and back is a treating itself. I think it only holds 4 cars. If you're at St. Genevieve go visit the fort. If you're at the Fort go visit St Genevieve

Really cool but this ferry seems to be like a raft crossing the mighty Mississippi. No way was I risking my life and my vehicle :-0

Ferry closed due to low river water levels, but due to that fact the walk to the old train truss is possible and the adventure was fun.

If you ever need to get across the Mississippi River this Ferry Service in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri is great!!! It's very efficient and they use a lot of safety measures to make sure you get to the otherside safe and sound...Enjoy the ride and take in the beauty!!!

To be honest, we haven't ridden it. But we do go often to just relax or go for a walk along the river. We did a video on the bank and met one of the men who work on the ferry. He was a very friendly man. Everyone we have ever talked to, which ridden it, seemed to really enjoy it.

I love going around the ferry landing and fishing there! I've never been on the ferry tho lol. But its a great spot to enjoy the river view 💯

This place is closed it's been closed for a while but we went and visited so I could see the Mississippi River and it's a nice place I wish they would fix it

Its always fun to take the ferry across to St.Genevieve. Always run by friendly staff. I'm sure it gets boring for them. Hope they get paid well!

Beautiful place to watch the sunrise

This is a great place to visit to find out where to go in St. Genevieve. The staff was friendly and the exhibits we're very interesting.

Quaint, Colonial &/or Isolated Countrified area!!!!!!! But the ferry I waited for hours, left without it opening but I'll return for the town & ⛴!!!!!!!
