Enjoyed sugarloaf! It's a very quiet and wooded campground with put toilets and a small field in the middle. Connects to a few different trails around including the AT. Would stay again in a heartbeat!

We have been camping at this campground for the past ten years. The sites are always clean and so are the bathrooms. The hosts are very knowledgeable of the area and surrounding trails.
Each site come with a picnic table and a fire pit. All fire pits have a grill grate for cooking. The campground offers two dumpsters, two bathrooms and two water spigots.
This is a great campground nestled in the white mountains.

Bare bones, simple campground.
Water spigot and toilets available.
Camp sites are spaced out well and in the middle of the woods, so you have a relative privacy! Love the river running behind! Dog friendly and quiet. Great place to get away to from the hustle and bustle of civilization.

Great campground. Not crazy remote, very easy to get to. Good amount of space between campsites, with woods between each. Has toilet facilities and water spigots.

Great campground. Would go back for sure. Plenty of quiet, shade, space, and privacy in our spot. Not all sites were like that though so do a little research if it matters to you.

Extremely thrilled we stumbled upon this camping area. Traveling in a 25 foot RV was a breeze in this camping location. We decided to stay on the road later then expected to watch the sunset on those amazing mountains out here and next thing you know... we need a place to stay for the night. The campsite was easy to find with easy hookup. SPACIOUS camping lots is an understatement. We had neighbors because every now and then I saw someone walking past the main trail but we never heard anyone! I really want to come back to explore this area again. I HIGHLY recommend this part of our amazing country and be sure to book mark this location for camping.

ASK ME anything.. happy to help!

Winter camped at 0 degrees in site 10 in SF2. Thought by the looks of the maps that the river was accessible, well its down a very steep cliff so water was not available. Use what you bring and supplement with melting snow. The sites are nice with a table and a fire ring.

Loved this campground and site 20 was great as were so many others. So amazingly peaceful. Huge sites and not crowded even in peak season. Will definitely be back. FYI no Verizon reception once you pull off main road.

Awesome, quiet campground. Stayed in beginning of October 2020. No host here in particular, the host stays in the Sugarloaf II campground. Far enough away from the main road that all you really hear is the wind. Campsites are wooded and relatively private. Every site comes with a picnic table and a fire ring with grates. At least 2 restrooms with flush toilets. Potable water via faucets. Would definitely stay here again.

Nice camp site. The ground is a bit hard, so be prepared with a pad. Very nicely cleared out, comfortable sized spaces. The bathrooms are very clean and bare-bones (only toilet, no sink or showers). Reasonably priced ($20/night) and nice that reservations ahead of time aren't needed.

I was at Sugarloaf I, in May. The campground was really clean and the caretakers were very friendly. There are flush toilets (with TP!). There's a nice trail that leads to Zealand River between sites 17 and 20, and if you walk up Zealand Road a bit there's a gorgeous rock and sand area where the river runs by a beaver lodge. It's great for kids.

One thing to note was that the bathrooms don't have sinks or showers, but there are water spigots around the campground.

Usually don't give out 5 stars but the campsite was very nice and there was significant room between most of the campsites. We had campsite number 23, which was set into a recessed alcove in the forest. Soooo very nice. A lot of the other campsites were very nice too. The campsite was quite and peaceful. Would highly recommend this campground and would go back if in the area.

We camped every other weekend at Sugarloaf during the summer and into the fall. We love it! It's quiet, clean, really good sized sites, and the host is super friendly. We are looking forward to going back next spring.

I first stayed here 30 years ago, and have been coming back ever since, probably 20 times since then. It's my favorite place to camp in the Franconia Notch area, and I have tried a few other area campgrounds to compare. There are just loads of fantastic day hikes within a short drive of here, everything from easy/novice level (like Twin Mountain Loop Trail) to difficult/more experienced (Mt. Washington trails), but it's far away enough from the highway that it's so quiet and peaceful. Although depending on which site you stay in you can hear the river softly or loudly which I love, sleeping at night to that sound of rushing water. RV's are allowed, so you may have to deal with generator noise, it's been a stretch since I've been, but I think there are rules about not running them at night though. Check by calling them if you're concerned about RVs to find out the official rules. Communal water pumps provide potable cold and crisp water, and there are toilets in the center of each loop. Just a great place to stay tucked in behind the quaint town of Twin Mountain! One note: there are fire pits, with cooking grates if you don't want to bring a stove, however you will need to get wood, it's just too heavily camped for the woods around the sites to provide anything but kindling. There is a general store on the way in off the highway, they sell firewood there, pretty much at the intersection of 3 and 302 if I remember correctly.

Very cool campsites. Each site is kinda private, very clean. Very good location - close to railroad to mt Washington, grocery and gas station

The only thing - there are no sinks and water in restrooms but still can't complain, everything was wonderful

This is a great pet friendly camp site. My family has been coming here for 3+ years now and I just love our time here. I get to roll in leaves, sniff new things and swim in the river.
There are plenty of trail heads within the campground. There are also many trail heads along Zealand Rd. The Zealand and Sugarloaf trails are a must! The Zealand Trail is perfect for the warmer summer days. Sugarloaf is beautiful during the fall with foliage.

Really enjoyed the location. Had a good size for 6 of us to set up hammock tents or regular tents. Got to hear the water fall. A great time and memories were made.

We were lucky getting a walk in site. It was gorgeous and felt secluded. Dawn, the campground host, was very helpful. Water spigots nearby, but no sink in the bathrooms.
