Hale Brook Trailhead

Nice Trailhead easily spotted while driving along the road. Not very many spaces so get there early as this feeds a 4,000 footer and foot traffic can be heavy. Many people get creative with parking, but get there early!

Easily my favorite 4K trail. Started at the hale brook trailhead, hike along the xc ski path parallel to the road to Zealand trail parking lot (would not recommend unless it’s winter), hiked to the Zealand hut and took lend a hand to the top of hale. rolled my ankle on the decent and Paul from Danvers helped me out and gave me his polls to help me down. Shout out to him. Great beautiful moderate trail. Can’t wait to go back in fall and winter !

A nice steady climb up to Mount Hale! It was not overly technical but there were some interesting sections.

Small parking area for about 7 to 8 cars, then along the road. No bathroom facilities. Well marked and easily accessible during summer.

For those wishing to hike Mt Hale in winter, the gate to the trailhead is closed. Plenty of parking is available at the Ammonoosuc lot up on route 302. The gate closure adds about 2.5mi each way, though it's a relatively easy walk. Along the way to the brook trailhead, there are wonderful views of the twin mountain range and the Zealand river. Summertime affords parking right at the trailhead itself. A picnic table provides a great spot to take a break from your journey.

Tough from the start and zero views from the top. Nice walk with some switchbacks near the top. Disappointing summit though

Decent amount of parking. Remember to bring $3 to pay for parking if you don't have a pass.

Only accessible by car in the summer. Limited parking.
