Mount Israel was fun to climb. Not too big or technical, perfect for us midweek. Views from the top were beautiful. Nice view for the effort. Good one for kids.

Slippery rocks and strong roots make for an exciting hike through beautiful dense forest

Nice trail up Mt. Israel. Fairly steep and consistent incline to the summit, which is 2 miles from the trailhead. Nice view of lakes 3/4 of the way up, then another nice view of mountains at the false peak. But the view from the peak where there is a cairn is pretty special with a longer view of the nearby and further mountains, all without evidence of civilization.
When coming back down, instead of taking a left to the parking lot, go right down another trail to some nice waterfalls about .4 miles from the trailhead.

This is a great hike with enough challenge to make it feel rewarding without too much punishment. It has a nice viewpoint to the south on the way up and then a wonderful and seldom seen view of the Kancamangus range to the north from the top. Some lovely oaks, asters and goldenrods in the deciduous forest on the way up. Give yourself at least 4 hours to enjoy this. It will take the better part of 2 hours to reach the summit unless you are a goat.

Good trail, well maintained. Passed a lot of other hikers. Good views to the north at the summit.

Did the short walk to the falls and back. Trail is marked, but could be a little better in a couple of places. There are a lot of non-marked trails all over. Falls are incredible. We were there in early December. Nobody else there. Didn't swim, but great to sit and listen.

Really enjoyed Mt Isreal hike, Wentworth trail up and down. 1700' gain in 2.1miles, good bang for the buck. Great views at true summit, large cairn, go past trail junction with Mead. Leaf canopy not out yet, nice transition to conifers. Bugs starting to get interested, annoying in warmth of lower altitudes not biting yet, looking forward to may and June, not! Did quick up and down in Rattlesnakes post Mt Isreal, so this hike won't wipe out all your energy. Enjoy!

A terrific spot to park. There is plenty of room for alot of vehicles. Trailhead is right there and the trail just up the path. One of the best trailheads around. If visiting Leave No Trace so we can continue to enjoy it. I will be back in the fall as the summit could offer up some gorgeous foliage since the views reach as far as Killington.

Mead Base Trailhead, one best kept secrets in New England, park and start your adventure by hiking up Mt. Israel or a walk and picnic at Beebe Falls. Also, a great view can be found 1/2 way up Mt. Israel trail. There are also several Adirondack Lean-Tos on the site for camping.
