Honestly so impressed with this small town bar! Immaculate bathrooms, fully stocked pool table, and Dani is one of the best bartenders I've ever met - personable, funny, and caring, plus makes one heck of a strong cosmopolitan! Cannot recommend this place enough; so glad we stopped here on our one night visit to Skykomish!

I discovered this hidden gem on my way back to Seattle, traffic was horrible on HWY 2 further out so decided to stop by to wait out the traffic. Really glad I stopped in! Had their chicken sandwich for dinner and it was really tasty. Really friendly bartender and staff. If you're passing through the area definitely stop by!

If I get to Monroe, it's Whistling Post Saloon for food. Friendly staff, friendly customers. Good liquor selection. Best tartar sauce! You should have it on everything. Very decent side salad. Chicken & jojos every time; just can't break the habit.

Obviously a local favorite with a strong crowd of regulars, and we were well taken care of as out-of-towners too. The bar has an old timey and quaint feel, A+ atmosphere for my tastes. Food was fine, and while the menu is limited, there’s something for everyone.

From the jump a friendly bar, with a great atmosphere, that happens to serve food. Food is nothing fancy or unique but it’s solid. History of the building is worth the stop. Def recommend

Visiting the area for Halloween, appreciate the effort put in to decorating the place, from the lobby to the bathrooms 🧹 👻 🎃. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, comfy cozy little spot complete with a pool table, dining area, and bar. Food and drinks are super affordable, fried chicken is awesome s'awesome, and they have tasty local ginger beer, which is one of my favorite bar drinks since I don't drink alcohol. Echoing the sentiment that this is a postage stamp place in a cute postcard town. Will happily return.

Had take out so I can't really provide a lot of information about the saloon. However, I can say the Fried chicken was awesome, if you are in the area and hungry for some fried chicken you have to stop and give it a try. Super nice people.

The high rating is well deserved. Been coming here regularly for more than five years and have always appreciated the friendly service, good and reasonably priced food (fried chicken, fish and chips are winners) and clean dining area.

Any dining establishment that keeps their bathroom clean is a champ for me and this saloon is a blue ribbon for it. Stop by for lunch or dinner when in Skykomish, hiking in the general area, or on your way to Leavenworth/Wenatchee.

There are picnic tables across the street on the green space between the road and the train tracks for covid safe eating if you wish and weather-permitting.

Highly recommend!

This place is a party!!! Great place to head after skiing at stevens pass. The beer is strong and the piano is fun to play! People sing along.

One of our favs! We always stop here on our way home. The Jojo's are baked and then steamed. Delicious! Great service.

This place has a unique atmosphere, especially on a cold winter night. It truly feels like a saloon in the middle of nowhere where passing travelers and locals can share a drink and meal together. I am looking forward to my occasional snowboarding trips to Stevens Pass this upcoming season and stopping by the saloon on the way back for a couple pints of Irish Death and a Seafood Jojo's.

Went here a couple of times over the weekend. My thoughts:

Pros: Cold beers at non-exorbitant prices, cool atmosphere, and it was the only place open on Sunday afternoon

Cons: 1) Being the only place open on Sunday afternoon and being a fryer-orientated food operation, their fryer was slammed (?) and it took multiple beers to get my order of fish and wangs

Operationality, it seemed like they were cooking to order instead of frying multiple orders at once. There didn't seem to be a lot of tickets. Granted, there were only two people working, a bartender and fryer/multitasker. I'm pretty sure I spent over two hours waiting for my food on Sunday. Saturday, it didn't take too long to get my sandwich, but that was around 9pm.

Food thoughts:
The jojos and tartar sauce are indeed good. The fish was a white fish (tilapia I'm guessing) in a thicker shell that was new to me. As delivered, they are poofy with a good amount of air between the fish and batter.

Better than my local fish and chips by far, despite being Tilapia most likely.

Chicken: I ordered the 5-piece buffalo wings for $8. I got 4 drums and a flat, so actually 2.5 whole wings for $8. They were fine, celery was weak, a pretty bad value by the numbers. However, if you want wings and are in Skykomish, it's may be the best thing ever.

Chicken sandwich: I believe I enjoyed this sandwich. However, it was cooked in the way where it had a stringy rind. I'd done this myself when cooking chicken.

9/5 UPDATE

Man the jojo potatoes are tasty. They are pressure-cooked to an consistent creamy texture, with an extra crispy skin. Best part is, they reheat amazingly in the air fryer.

I tried the oysters and they were a thing. I'm not sure what the best value play is at the moment but the jojos are fantastic, side sauces good, beer cold.

Look forward to coming back! Gets five stars now.

Great atmosphere and a pleasant surprise to find in Skykomish.

Menu heavily favors dishes with jojos but all of it was cooked perfectly. The tartar sauce was excellent.

Do try any of the fried fish combos. While the fish is good, the real star of the show is their house-made tartar sauce. That is excellent and they really should be jarring that and selling it.

Great spot to stop and relax with some food and a couple beers before heading back into the world.

Great food, great atmosphere!! Before we even got our food, the aroma from the kitchen let us know we were in for a treat. My fish n chips were good, but my brother and mom got the fried chicken, OMG!!!! It's a half a chicken and neither one of them offered to share even a bite. My mom said it was the best fried chicken she had ever had!! I didn't catch her name, but the hosts/waitress/bartender/cook rocked the hell out of it, and never missed a beat with the ever increasing crowd. I will be back to try that fried chicken for sure!!!
And side note, but super important to mention, the bathrooms are super clean and well stocked. Probably the cleanest I've ever been in 😊

What a super cute saloon! The aroma from the kitchen was tantalizing and the ice cold IPA in this little mountain town was super appreciated. If you don't know Skykomish, it is a special place as it serves Pacific Crest Trail hikers. There's a laundromat right down the street so you can wash your clothes and go have a beer at the Whistling Post while it spins. The back patio was the perfect summer afternoon spot. I love this place!

Best place ever. Good inexpensive beer on draft. Rainer is my beer of choice. Fried chicken, fried, oysters, all beef hot dogs. I ate a lot of food here. Cool employees and cool patrons. Ping pong table and smokers porch out back. Love it.

Pretty cool place. The Mariners game was on so that is a plus. They have liquor and beer but it has more of a Tavern feel. We had the Wings and they were able customize the flavor per my request. The server was attentive and friendly

While you might come here for a drink or two, you will be pleasantly surprised with the quality of their food! We ordered shrimp and chips (or jo-jos as listed in the menu). The shrimp were perfectly cooked and the potato wedges were super satisfying! They provided what was admittedly one of the best tartare sauces/dips I have ever had- freshly made with a hint of garlic. If you go here for a drink, be sure to also grab a bite!
