Lovely, quiet side trip if you're not in a hurry. On the dry and sunny autumn day I drove this graveled road at a relaxed pace, I had no problems negotiating the route with my little hatchback. Take time to enjoy the peace of Wayside Chapel at Uptop and to enjoy the beautiful vistas along the way. I couldn't help but stop frequently to take pictures!

Converted this lil Old Ghost Town into grounds for a music venue with camping. I was there for their inaugural festival and it was definitely a blast. Plenty of space to camp, facilities and great stage setups.

Hats off Uptop!

Neat little place for pics. Be aware, it's all private. Be respectful, so we can enjoy this for a longer period of time.

The newest owners of property at Uptop had a summer event that enticed about 200 attendees to enjoy the altitude and scenery. Longtime residents of the area were able to enjoy activity in this once bustling place. The building on the north side identified as an abandoned structure (old, wood frame) in the Simon photo was once a restaurant. The owners lived in part of the structure and served hamburgers and sides in the main room. I (Nan) ate there in the last year of its operation and love the nostalgia connected with it.

This is one of the most beautiful scenic drives that it seems no one knows about. You can see all the old fire damage, you have amazing views oh, there were no cars around so I was able to take some great time lapse photography of incoming storms. If you're in the area definitely spend some time checking out the abandoned area, the beautiful views and the forest that is regrowing!! Also a great place to go watch the sunset or walk around - anywhere on the road! :-)

This is the ghost town of Up Top Colorado, an old Miner and Railroad town, over a 100 years old!

Quiet, very peaceful place. The residual energy from those who have passed through here over the years has a calm, satisfying effect to it. All the buildings have a history you can feel, especially the chapel. I rather enjoyed the contemplative walk behind the chapel. They suggest leaving leaving mementos,(red), and it was amusing to see what was left behind. All in all it was a very nice visit.

My wife and I stopped there coming back from a trip to Trinidad CO. We had the pleasure of meeting the two owners and spent hrs. talking with them. They truly are wonderful pol and the work they have done is amazing. During the fire that took place we prayed every day for every one it's been such a relief that the place was safe and sound. Great job to everyone.

Off season, nobody was there, but the grounds were well kept.

Perfectly creepy in the off season. The museum door was open so I gave it a shut. The views up the road were stunning and I enjoyed a nice breakfast there

Incredible! I can't believe the people who own the adjacent land aren't doing anything with the Old Pine Inn, famous for it's pies, to this day. Thank you to all the fire fighters who worked x's 4 to save this little gem.

History buffs will enjoy the in depth knowledge throughout and everyone will love the surrounding views. Vintage cabins and relics make it a must stop on the La Veta pass.

Outstanding 1877 historic village complete with Tavern and Dancehall, original train depot/museum, small chapel, one room schoolhouse, and original Patriarch's House.

Wonderful old buildings. Met the new owners and he was very informative about the area. I would recommend going and seeing the chapel.

Really not a place to get out and look around its for sale and not public makes u feel like you are in a forbidden place...like most places and public roads in (Colorado)which at any second can be closed..found myself running from the spring fire and no way out because people just want to fence up public county roads..
