Cucharas River Bed and Breakfast

A quaint space in a beautiful area - tucked between mountains along a stream. While the room was tight with an antiquated heating system, the beds were comfortable. The shared downstairs living and dining room area was well appointed and well decorated by large windows and beautiful views. The host was very friendly and cooked a flavorful breakfast.

The perfect place to stay for your mountain get away! We cannot recommend Cucharas River B&B enough - Amazingly homey and environmentally beautiful, with the most hospitable and kind hosts, Gaylene and her dog Riley. Every breakfast was warm and delicious and accommodating to our vegetarianism. Stocked with a full and functional kitchen and comfortable main living room, our stay was nothing short of perfect. Amazing views, clean and cozy rooms and bathrooms, and strong Wi-Fi left us wanting for nothing else. Can’t wait to come back soon! 🏔❄

This place is unparalleled. Between the cozy rooms, the incredible host Gaylene (and Riley the host dog of course! ) the river right outside, and the wonderful breakfast there is no where quite like it! You must absolutely do yourself a favor and stay here!

What a wonderful b&b! The owner Gaylene cooked a very tasty breakfast, and her lil pupper dog Riley, head of the welcoming committee, was so cute and fun to play with. We will be back for sure!

Gaylene is an amazing host and the property is incredible! Walking distance to shops, restaurants, and bars. Our stay was amazing and we're already planning our return! Say hi to Riley for us!

We are 2 families (4 adults, 6 teenagers ages 13-18) exploring this area of CO for the first time. Cuchara is a sweet little gem nestled in the forest. Gaylene is the kind hostess who operates the B&B and organizes the yummy breakfast. The house is clean and very comfortable. We had rooms 4 and 5 upstairs; kids slept in the loft area very comfortably (the teenage boys are over 6' and had plenty of room). We enjoyed sitting on the patio and listening to the creek after a late dinner at Dog Bar & Grill. The only sad thing was this was a quick overnight stay on our roadtrip. All of us agreed that we could have very happily spent the week here.

Absolutely a great experience! Gaylene was a wonderful host! I stayed In room #1, it’s on the first floor with a balcony right next to the flowing creek/river, a bit of rain came in the after noon followed with thunder, and with the windows open the cool breeze, outdoor odors, sounds of thunder, lite rain, flowing stream, sounds of woodland critters “crittering” made it one of the most relaxing afternoon naps I’ve ever had! Then there’s Riley “puppy dog” we became pals! We celebrated “national dog day” together! Everything was super clean, plenty of blankets & pillows for the night, Gaylene is very accommodating in the fact she asks you what time you would like breakfast, I needed to leave by 7:45 8ish, all the other guest were still in their rooms, she had my place set up with the whole spread! Absolutely delicious breakfast casserole with fresh garden tomatoes & fresh fruits, cold water was served in wine bottles “excellent touch” plates, glasses & silverware were all to expectation, I’m looking forward to next time! Gaylene is a wonderful and accommodating host! It was fun to meet the other guests too as they came and went for our two days. And the best part is the location and scenery! It’s such a quaint and serene space right by the river. Our bedroom backed into the river so we could open our door on the morning to the beautiful sounds of the brook and have our morning coffee right there on our patio. I highly, highly recommend even if for a night!

We stayed here a week ago and cannot say enough good things! Cuchara is such a little gem in a part of Colorado that we have not really visited before. We live south of Denver and it only took around 2 hours to get there. Gaylene was such an awesome host with great food and hospitality. Our dogs loved it too! Beautiful location in a mountain valley right on the Cuchara River. Definitely plan to visit again and can’t wait to see it in the summer! Thanks Gaylene and Happy New Year!!!

Gaylene is a wonderful host! Her breakfast was amazing and the house is perfect! The beds are comfy and the sound of the river is so soothing at night! Loved the outdoor seating and hummingbirds were everywhere! Just an absolute perfect location at the end of the Cuchara Village Road! Will definitely be back again!

Highly recommend this B&B to everyone needing a place to stay, Gaylene is such a wonderful host and super sweet! This was the first B&B my boyfriend and I have ever stayed in and we were not disappointed at all, we felt right at home! Location is great, and the house is super clean and beautiful and her breakfast was so yummy! You wont regret staying here.

Quaint bed and breakfast next to the creek. Our dogs enjoyed the creek so much. The breakfast was delicious. This place is not only beautiful but also very dog friendly. Gaylene is a wonderful host.

The host, Gaylene is very nice and kind. This place is so awesome,especially if you need to get away and relax in a very stress free environment. You can have good food and go enjoy some hikes. Everyone is friendly. Our accommodations were above and beyond. I can't wait to come back.

Great location, walkable to nearly everything, nestled next to a stream while surrounded by trees - plenty of places to explore or enjoy - we loved our room and our kids enjoyed the bunk/loft area. We will be back!

This place is relaxed, quiet, and welcoming, with access to some of the best outdoor mountain views in the area. It is truly a southern Colorado gem! You can’t do better for the money. Each morning you’ll be greeted with breakfast, and the owner is so very accommodating. The on-property river access will help you to acquaint and take a load off while you plan a walk up the street to the Dog Bar or mini golf, or a more extensive excursion, to include: hiking, biking, skiing, frisbee golf, wildlife viewing (local heron frequents the river), and more - wherever your heart or mind may take you - find a renewal with this place!

This little gem is absolutely top notch. The location, scenery, and accommodations are second to none. The Cucharas River Bed and Breakfast quickly became my favorite place, and my husband and I will definitely be back...as many times as we can get there! Gaylene was wonderful, and her breakfast was delicious! We highly recommend this amazing little piece of Heaven!

Amazing little bed and breakfast tucked away in the mountains. My group was camping in Trinidad and it dropped to below 20 degrees and we weren't prepared. Luckily this quaint B&B was there for the rescue. On top of that the beds were super nice, everything was very clean, the breakfast was amazing, and the host was such a genuine and sweet person. I can't recommend this place more to anyone passing through or looking to spend a little time in the area.
