Definition of a family restaurant!
Their portions are nice and the prices fair. They even broke away from the kitchen for a minute and chatted with us! For 35 years, Val has run this quaint and clean little place. It was nice to hear future plans of getting 40 acres to do garden support for having even more local, self-raised produce for their dishes.
We could tell that a lot of their produce is locally sourced as it was very fresh food. In other reviews, I saw some dings for items on the menu not being available; I have always found this part of the appeal for a small mom-and-pop places as it's a natural occurrence. Our waitress came out of the kitchen quickly and let us know the chicken steak was out for the day and then did a rush order on its replacement so it was all served on time!
We had a family-friendly experience with small children, would recommend!

Great service... good homemade food (we had enchiladas and burritos)... nice homey atmosphere.
Salsa didn't burn my mouth, very tasty! Chips crunchy good. Beans tasty too.

Best burger in the SLV.... Got 6 oz. burger and fries for $9.50....was awesome... super friendly staff....up front parking... Will be back

This place was a real hole in the wall. Just spent a great week fishing at the Navajo Dam, on the return trip stopped in here on the way back for a quick lunch. Called ahead 15 minutes and they easily fulfilled my order on time. The Stuffed Sopapilla and my friend got the patty melt. Both are incredible! Thank you Val’s!

End of an era! We had our second date at Val's and enjoyed our last lunch under the current leadership there on Friday. We'll miss all the familiar faces.

My husband and I had lunch today. He had a beef chimichanga and I had a beef stuffed sopapilla. My but the food was yummy. We also enjoyed the chips and homemade salsa. I can say that if you leave there hungry you must have a huge appetite!!!

I've been going to Val's when I am working in the area for a long time. SUCH good food. The best red chile and beans! Real homemade beans that taste like my moms!

I have to add, the people are sooooo nice. Last time I was there, I forgot my hat and sunglasses. I live over 2 hours away. Not only did they send them to me, they wouldn't allow me to pay for the shipping. I love these folks!

From the start, the waiter gave a warm welcome. The food was great , a cheese burger that changed my definition of a burger. All in all would reccomend anyone in the area to check out this gem.

So you are in "the middle of nowhere" in Manassas, Colorado. You are hungry. Val's Place! Local, clean, wonderful service, good home cooked food and outstanding service. I love their green chili cheeseburger with bacon. Talk about trying to get this in your mouth! I complained ONCE about my burger not being "rare", they never forgot me. Love "local" and Val's fits that description if you like what I call, "New Mexico in Colorado".

1000% worth the drive. Delicious, authentic Mexican food. Freshly made salsa and just out of the fryer chips. The green sauce was excellent, we had it on the stacked enchiladas, rellenos, and stuffed sopapillas. They were all amazing, and high quality food. Desert sopapillas were also amazing.

My wife had the Tamales, I had the chicken Enchiladas. Val was our server and she was great. You need to wait around a bit, because she is the only waitress and the cashier. The old doggo that was sunning itself on the porch when you go in was cute. The food was great and the salsa was incredible!

Passing though and stopped to try this little spot- had tacos (I like you can mix and match)..and the chicken were the best- perfectly light and crisp shells (not the hard stale ones you get some places). Only thing I didnt much like was the rice..too soft and tons of tomato sauce. .

Best authentic Mexican fajita plates in the area! Had the absolutely delicious chicken fajitas served with handmade tortillas and quacamole. The hand made onion rings are the best ever, too. Also, the veggies in the fajita plate were all fresh and freshly prepared - loved the long strips of fresh bell pepper. Thr rice and beans are great and not too runny.And, the homemade salsa is perfect! Tube of sour cream and lots of grated cheese on the side. Portions are very large, price is perfect. Fast fast fast freindly service! Very clean and quaint, highly recommended! Yummy!

Vals Place is a little Gem in the Valley. Have always had great tasty food. The menu is full of a variety of dining options. You couldn't go wrong with anything. I will also say, their wait staff if attentive and courteous. Better than alot of well known restaurants and believe me, this is not only in the states.

My mom and I stopped at Val's for lunch. The building and dining area is attractive. The service was excellent; the waitress very friendly. The food was top-notch and reasonably priced. Nothing about our experience was less than excellent.

Val's is our new go-to Mexican joint in the south SLV. The food is super fresh and delicious; we are excited to try everything on the menu. Best Philly cheesestake I've had in Colorado thus far. Their fried ice cream is delectable and lighter on your belly than you'd expect. It definitely beats its sister store Dos Hermanas. Waitstaff is hilarious and very attentive and kind here as well.

Seven of us have been bike touring the San Luis Valley for several days and this has been the best place for lunch. We had these dishes and they were all great: BLT, Stuffed Sopapilla, Patty Melt, Taco Salad. I had the vanilla milk shake: all yums. Service was great too.

Delicious food! We were a party of 8 and loved every plate. We were very well taken care of. Highly recommend the enchilada plate and stuffed sopapillas.

Excellent food, and even better service. We are from Houston, and this spot felt like home (even better). Best Mexican in SLV.

They have a very good cheeseburger. It’s good quality, and consistently cooked to perfection. I will keep going here.
