My dad, a friend, and I had an awesome single-day trip with OARS through Split Canyon Mountain on Monday, and I have too many nice things to say. The rapids themselves were thrilling, but not scary, and the views were incredible. All of the guides were accommodating, welcoming, and friendly, but special shout-out to Kelly for being an awesome raft-leader and Julia (the overall trip leader) for her knowledge and kindness. Everyone was especially considerate in assisting my father, who is still relatively fit, but is 82 and needed a little help here and there. Even though the team does hundreds of these every summer, they went out of their way to make it memorable, and I am so so appreciative of the whole team. Lots of love from Texas. Will absolutely use OARS in the future. Appreciate y'all <3

I was looking for a destination for my first rafting trip. I selected Oars based on their website and the great conversation that I had with the Oars rep. She suggested that The Gates of Lodore on the Green River running from near Dinosaur, Colorado to outside of Vernal, Utah would be the perfect first time trip for our family trip. Let me tell you that the river, the beautiful scenery, the food, the weather and especially the crew, did not disappoint! I had hoped to come away enjoying this trip, but we were just gobsmacked with the beauty on this river. We were 7, including 3 children, parents and two grandparents. The challenges that we took on in the cool waters temps, and Level 2, and even 3 in the kayaks, and hikes to cool places, camping, meeting new people and all the rest, was perfect for us. The crew were professional, focused on safety while being patient with the 100 questions from kids and grown kids alike. These are nice people who also happen to know their craft! I recommend Oars Dinosaur to anyone looking for a new adventure for your family. Be ready to eat, because this altitude, the activities and the smell of the camp with food cooking will bring you running when they harmonize their call of coffee, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Thank you to our guides Zack, Tess, Yeti, Strom, Drew and Edie! We can't wait to go back!

We had a FANTASTIC experience with OARS on our Green River, Split Mountain Canyon trip. Colby, our guide, did an excellent job on the river and was also very knowledgeable about this history of the area. We cannot wait to book a longer, overnight trip with Colby and the OARS team!

Experienced the 44-mile Gates of Lodore raft trip with OARS as our outfitter and could not be more pleased with our experience! As 10 girls on a bachelorette trip, our leaders made sure everyone felt safe, well prepared, and had a great time! We felt so luck to have Andrew (Soggy), Matte, Stell, Abby, Clark, and Jack as our guides for the trip and had a great time! Food was delicious, camp was comfortable, and the water was AMAZING. Talk about a serotonin HIGH after getting off the water! If you’re considering booking this trip, consider this review your push in the right direction!

The 1-day, Green River - Split Mountain trip is incredible. This was our first activity to start our 10-day trip out West and everyone loved it. Benjamin and the other guides were super friendly, knowledgeable of the river, and very professional. The views of the river are amazing, the rapids were exciting but not scary, and my boys and I had the chance to float in the water next to our raft a couple times. Lunch on the beach in the middle of the trip was super fun. Our trip was July 1 and the river had a good flow. We would definitely do this trip again or do a multi-day on the Green River with Oars. If you are visiting Dinosaur National Monument, this trip has to be part of our plans.

Did a day trip. Good company to work with. Our group had all ages from 8 to 80 and the guides did well organizing the boats. Lunch well prepared.

This was my first rafting trip, and these guys made it an awesome experience. The trip had something for everyone. A lot of the boats they had on the trip were big oar rigs where the guide paddled it, and the guests could just sit and take in the views and relax. This was great for some people, but that's a little too much relaxing for me. They also had a paddle boat, which could have up to 8 of our group of 25 paddling. There were also 2 double kayaks, 2 single kayaks and a stand up paddle board. So at any given time there was usually something available for those that wanted to be more active.

The food was way better than anything I've ever made on my hiking trips. The guides did an awesome job of taking care of food prep and a lot of camp set up. At a minimum you just need to set up your tent and sleeping stuff, but a few of us helped pitch in a little bit with camp stuff since a few of us felt weird with so much free time on a camping trip.

The guides were also very knowledgable and shared a ton of information with us. They were also very friendly, kind and just fun to hang out with.

Overall it was a great trip. I went a little later in the season, so I would have liked for a little more activity in the rapids. Between kayaking, paddling and day hikes I got plenty of activity in and still got a lot of time to relax.

The experience was great, the guides were wonderful, and the food was good! My daughter popped out of the raft on the rapids and our guide was VERY quick and calm in getting her back in the boat, and was great at consoling her through her embarrassment.

Let me tell you the honest truth.
We have been on 10 plus rafting trips and the trip through Split Mountain Canyon was the best yet. Dylan, Bennie our guides and Brenda our driver were so cool.
You'll love it and get a history lesson too. Tip them well and have fabulous time.

Went on a 3 day trip with Tony and crew. Was one of the best decisions I could of made. The crew are not only friendly and fun, but are quite knowledgeable of the area. Their concern for safety was top notch. The food was delicious! The staff’s skills on the water, superb! Would recommend doing one of these trips with these guys if you ever get the chance!!! Thanks O.A.R.S. ! ! !

Do not hesitate to book The Gates of Lodore with OARS. The scenery is spectacular, food delicious and guides top notch. Mike, Macgyver, Zach, Matte, Abby and Stephanie went out of their way to make sure we were having plenty of adventurous fun, staying safe and enjoying the beauty of a special piece of the American west. Make no mistake, there will be a hodge podge of people from all walks of life and that’s part of what makes the trip so special. For four days we created a river family with people we may not necessarily have met in our everyday lives and it was FUN! Out on the river you work as team, eat as team, relax as a team and laugh as team but for those a little more introverted there are opportunities for quiet moments soaking in the views. As for the canyon scenery, it took our breath away. Already missing waking up to the silence of a starry sky in a desolate canyon. Thanks team and river family for helping to create wonderful memories for me and my son.

What an amazing adventure! Our 4-day rafting trip was a good mix of river time, hiking, swimming, lounging, storytelling and, of course, eating.

I was truly impressed by our guides’ knowledge of history, geology and biology of the area — and their cooking skills. The food was delicious — from tacones to pineapple upside down cake and tuna poke to steak cooked to order. And fresh fruit and veggies galore!

The views were jaw-dropping everywhere you looked, and I loved the camaraderie our group developed working, living and laughing together in this short, but meaningful, time. I will always treasure the memories of this experience. A five-star resort has nothing on this mix of nature and hospitality! My hat’s off to these outfitters and our fantastic guides — Jon, Cortney and Doug!

Absolutely the best! Aside from awesome scenery, the guides were fantastic and made the trip a success. Amazing how 20 diverse people can come together for a few days in close quarters and everyone got along and had a blast. Put me down for an OARS trip every year.

I can not say enough great things about my experience this past Sunday. From booking to checking in, and the actual rafting tour overall 10/10 experience! All the staff are very friendly and helpful, they helped make sure we had properly fitting equipment, gave us a run down that made us feel ready for the rafting portion, and answered any questions we had along the way. They provided us with a lunch which was also very good and a nice way to take a break from the river. Beautiful scenery the whole way down the river. You will have a great time with OARS!

Today was amazing! It was my first rafting trip. Matt and Abby were absolutely great guides. I felt like I was hanging with friends all day. Matt gave tons of great history info to us the entire trip, which was neat to learn. The rapids weren't crazy, so for a first-timer that was nice, even though after going through my first couple of rapids, I wanted more and more. The scenery was amazing and the picnic on the beach was a great time to fuel up. 100% recommend this place.

Great trip with Jake as a great guide. The short hike to the petroglyphs was very interesting, lots of fun water to raft through, and plenty of relaxing downtime to float and enjoy the scenery. The lunch was surprisingly good, also!

We did a 3-day trip with kids and it was AMAZING. Excellent guides kept us safe and set the tone for a laid back but adventurous experience that we will never forget. We got to try paddling, kayaking and SUP to add variety on the river. Food was plentiful and delicious and campsites were comfortable. Office staff promptly addressed our questions before the trip to ensure we were prepared. Can’t think how it could have been better.

Our guides and driver were friendly and fun. They took care of all the logistics and food and safety and helped us learn cool stuff while having the experience of a lifetime. It was the first time anyone in our family had been whitewater rafting, and we all loved it, including my kids ages 6 and 8. Shout out to our guide Abbey, who was super cool and did a great job steering us through those class 2 and 3 rapids. And Matt for showing us cool petroglyphs and pictographs. Thank you!
