The chamber of commerce was closed when i visited but the cemetery is small and seemed like it was always open. A couple guys rolled in and cracked a beer at Billy's grave. The other tombstones offer some interesting stories, including how much land Maxwell owned.

We were driving crosscountry and loved that it was only 4 miles off the main highway. Perfect for a short stop to stretch your legs and see a piece of history.

The building was closed because of covid-19 (I'm assuming). If you visit the Billy the kid museum this is a must stop to follow up the trip!

Serious southwest history here, from the very beginning years to Billy the Kid's death and resting place.

Great piece of New Mexico history, in this almost-forgotten corner of the state! Definitely stop by for 20 minutes, if anywhere nearby.

Made it here in the winter of 1991 can actually say no one was here. Very quiet..

A little underwhelming to be honest, but again, he was an outlaw. But, he was eventually pardoned by Governor Bruce King, generations to late, but oh well.

This is one of those places you stop just because you happen to be passing by -like the world's largest ball of twine, it's one of those things that make you go, "Huh!". You can probably tell there's not much out there from the photos. A building, a lizard, some dirt and maybe a selfie.
