This is a fantastic little museum. Unfortunately it is currently closed. The trails are still open and offer peaceful walks though the forrest and along cliffs with beautiful ocean views. There are several interpretive signs along the trail. There is a Porta-potty on site.

This is a very cool place. This Coast Guard Lifeboat station closed on 1970 after over 34,000 rescues. The museum is definitely worth looking through. There is also 3 hiking trails to the coast where they would launch rescues from. This is a non-profit so siend money in the gift shop to support it. This was a great self guided tour for my husband because he's a coast guard veteran.

This is a hidden gem on the Oregon Coast. The volunteer staff was informed and welcoming. Many of the displays are Smithsonian-grade exhibits. There are some beautiful models and artifacts. The building is maintained immaculately. The original/restored rescue boat on the grounds is impressive and it is almost unimaginable to think what the Coast Guard members had to endure when going into stormy seas on rescues with these things. What a great experience.

Amazing views on beautiful, well maintained, nature trails overlooking the Pacific Ocean with seabirds, whales and fishing boats as background bonuses.

Awesome place to visit and learn about this historical place. Such a brave group of servicemen stood in this place. Topped off by the great guides manning the place at the time. It was an honor to visit.

Very cool museum on the history of the Port Orford Lifeboat Station. Worth the time, even if that's not your sort of thing.

This is one of my favorite spot in the world. The museum is great and full of great history! The trails around the museum are breathtaking! Its a pretty easy walk, there are a few hills that I took slow. But they also have little benches in a few spots that you can sit and take in the view and if you're lucky you might see whales searching for food!

Museum is fascinating. We’ll worth the stop - give yourself time to hike to the observation post (former)

Lovely spot with some neat history, and the few trails around the area have some truly breathtaking views. We didn't get in to see the museum as we had our pooch with us, but I'm sure it is nice too!

Excellent family friendly Coast Guard & Northwest Fishing Museum! OPEN Thurs-Sat 10a-3p at least thru Oct 2021. Call in Nov to check if still open.
Add in a stop (when turning west off the 101 onto 9th st) 1 block from the 101 at the Big Red Harvest Farm House for an amazing meal! Homemade on-site items from pastries & coffee to full meals hot & cold. Allergy friendly, deli & picnic food too! I can not recommend this enough! Open Fri-Sun only. Picnic tables outside.
Don't forget the Christmas Shoppe in Gold Beach too (30miles south) on the 101! & tell us what you thought about your fun stop!
I personally encourage everyone to stop by & take in these activities! There is a small & unique gift area inside the museum as well! This gem is run only by volunteers. Funding is helped thru donations & sales from the gift store! Deb

Beautiful natural surroundings. When we went the museum was closed but peeking in the windows, it looks like they have a great exhibit.
