I went for their wildflowers and vernal pools talk and it was wonderful. I learned a lot and enjoyed seeing all the precious little flowers. It's also the first time I saw a Horned Lark and I could faint at how cute it is!

This is a nature conservancy protected area, access has be arranged through them. Went with California Native American Plants society. Besides identifying a lot of native plants and blooms the Nature Conservancy was there to show the tiny varieties of protected shrimp that inhabit the vernal pools that dot the preserve this time of year. Saw quite a few waterfowl on biggest pool and actually a juvenile bald eagle that really got the snow geese stirred.up...
Only downside was all the rain made the ground muddy, waterproof boots would have been a better choice
