I didn't appreciate the museum as a kid. But as an adult, I've made use of it several times, and it's impressive to see how much information and history is available there.

I recommend it to everyone. Long-time residents and visitors alike will appreciate the historical value of the exhibits.

LOVE this museum! Highly recommended!! Go early and allow plenty of time because even a full day isn't enough to take it all in!!! We really enjoyed the scavenger hunts and quizzes available from the volunteer at the help desk. You fill them out as you go and they help to enhance your museum experience. I believe they're suitable for pretty much any age.

This place was fantastic, so many wonderful artifacts as well as super rare photographs. For a really neat gift idea, the greeting cards with vintage photographs are superb. Make sure to check out the Mt St Helens Survivor Car

I have no excuse for not visiting this museum for several decades--particularly since I've driven by it so frequently. I visited last week with two friends and we were all delighted by the entire experience.

Much of the interactive programs for children is presently unavailable due to COVID restrictions but there is plenty to see and experience. The docent is unbelievably knowledgeable and more than willing to answer any questions about the area and its rich history.

More people from our area should avail themselves of this gem. After experiencing it, I'm certain that you will agree that purchasing a membership in the Cowlitz County Historical Society is a benefit not only to yourself but to our community as a whole.

While doing laundry down the street, we decided to stroll in here and check it out. They had an activity for my kid, a scavenger hunt. That was really fun. The place is interesting and gives a lot of historical knowledge. The lady working there is super cool and was helpful and fun. Her attitude is awesome. I love the old outfits, those were neat. And the Native American information. Thank you for sharing history with us.

This is a local gem. Here individuals and families can learn about both local and state history. There are some hands-on exhibits as well as traditional. There is also an area with a rotating exhibit, this is great as you never know what to expect each and every time you go. The gift shop is great with both locally made goods as well as replicas of toys of the past. They have some unique gifts that would work well as stocking stuffers.

There's a giant collection of local artifacts here, in a beautifully constructed building that feels miles away from everything despite being right smack-dab in the middle of a busy intersection. Admission is free, and the docents I've met have all been very knowledgeable and willing to talk to you about anything inside. They're currently (late 2016) going through a giant renovation of the exhibits inside the main part of the building, and from what I could see through the plastic sheeting, it's going to be an exciting update to the existing collections. The gift shop also has a ton of locally-made goods and historical/educational stuffs, as well. It's definitely worth having a look through, and learning more about our local history!

Great place to learn about the early American colonists/invaders to the area. Excellent display of living in a single room cabin. Although free, please leave a donation!

Deffinetly gives you more than you expect, the ladies there are pretty nice and helpful. They give lots of history in this small museum, I know I learned a lot, cute gift shop, great place to buy books (not a huge selection but good for the size of the museum) about the history of Cowlitz county (books about Longview and Kelso). I did the kids scavenger hunt, and I learned lots about Long Bell, R.A. Long, The Monticello Convention, etc.

Overall it would be pretty enjoyable for anyone who is into local history.

This was a great place to go and learn more about the state of Washington, and deep rich history that I am glad was preserved for my son to see, he enjoyed it aswell and they have a little questionnaire sheet for the children to fill out to be more engaged and excited about being there, of the complete it the get a piece of candy, overall I give it a 5 out of 5 and will be going back again to look over what I missed the first time.
