Olvera's

Stopped at this restaurant on the way to Bishop and was pleasantly surprised. The food was authentic Mexican and tasted just like home in San Diego.

My wife had a beef taco and tamale and for a 5 foot two woman she ate it all :-)
I had a beef taco and Tostado with rice and beans, tasted great and filled me up.

We had chips, salsa and guacamole. The chips and guac were amazing. The salsa wasn’t really that hot for me, but then again could be for someone else .

There’s plenty of parking off the main street. I took a picture of the front door because it’s around the front and it’s a little hard to find if you don’t know what to look. They have a full bar and two rooms for drinking and dining. They have a new patio, but are not allowed to serve alcoholic beverages outside as of yet, although they have applied.

Highly recommend this if you need Mexican food, fix food and service with a smile

Forgot to add we had two mango margaritas and as you can see from the pictures they were massive. :-)

Have you tried the fish & chips? They have this as an appetizer. A surprising place to enjoy fish & chips. Also, a wonderful peach chimichanga with ice cream. We shared this delicious dessert.

Olvera's is one of our "go-to" spots for dinner. They have a wide menu selection and great service for a very fair price. If you want a place for yourself or your family to have a tasty sit-down meal (and a margarita or two) at an affordable price, this place is for you.

Got the mexican flag. Amazing food and very delicious. New to town but will return here to try new things on their menu. OK so I have returned a number of times and they don't miss. They got a extra large burrito bro. 3 meats. Always a banger for $15 hell yeah

Busy for a Sunday but no wait for a booth. I really enjoyed the shrimp platter as an appetizer and the bacon wrapped shrimp (with rice and beans) as an entree. Definitely a generous amount of shrimp for those who like seafood.

Went here as a recommendation from a friend. He suggested the chili Verde. It didn't disappoint. The pork simply fell apart. The portions were large but not too much. I know this is silly but the salsa on the chips and salsa appetizer that they give you for free was really good. I would also recommend the horchata.
The service was quick and friendly. Glad I went to this place.

Great food. Well balanced and seasoned. We tried the spicy shrimp 🦐 plate and fish tacos plate. The fish tacos are great. Different. They use grilled fish in bite size pieces. Mostly it's deep fried fish with batter. Recommended.

Rarely am I disappointed with a Mexican restaurant in California. My wife ordered steak and I had a fajita, so it’s very hard to go wrong with either, as both always taste great. However, what stood out about Olvera’s was that the salsa was probably the best I have ever tasted (and I usually don’t even like salsa very much). This made the tortilla chips seem like part of the meal, rather than a way to kill time while the meal is cooking. Also, the beans and rice had a noticeably delicious flavor. I was quite happy that we picked this place.
If you go in the evening, though, don’t be surprised if it looks closed from outside; the interior is dimly lit.

We showed up 10 minutes before closing and they served us the most delicious dinner.

The service was excellent, very prompt and friendly. The pork in salsa verde was delicous! The pork was very tender and flavorful. The salsa verde was perfectly spiced. The sides of rice and beans were very good. Dinner came with warm tortillas as well as freshly fried totopo chips and red salsa. The menu had many choices, including a nice a la carte section. I'm looking forward to trying other dishes in the future.

Stopped in on a whim. I ordered the extra large burrito for $15. I was pleasantly surprised when this ginormous burrito was presented to me. Definitely enough to feed two. I ended up taking half home for later.

I was really surprised at this restaurant! Wow, the staff is so nice, the food was hands down the absolute best mexican food I ever had. The price was great for the amount of food you get. I will be a regular here, no doubt, and I recommend this place 100%. If you have not eaten here, you have got to go and see for yourself!!! You're welcome in advance.

Famlntastic, we loved it all. The mister burrito had all the meats and was big enough for anyone. Drinks were great as well. We went home very happy.

Would give it five but needed a little more flavor. Othenic Mexican food. Tamales aren't made there. But have gluten free taco shells. Loved it price for today is good alot of food. Chips aren't good.

Great spot to hit after traveling from the parks. All you can eat or tons on the menu, including options for vegetarians for a super low price. Staff is super friendly.

We were just passing through. We came for lunch and ordered off the dinner menu. I had the whitefish tacos, beans and white rice. My husband had the carne asada. It was delicious! The fish was soft & buttery and the carne asada was very tender. What a great find!!
