Not an easy hike. 5$ pass bought at Chevron off 176 exit. Round trip felt like 10+ miles. Took 3 hrs to get to the top with hardly any breaks. 6-7hrs total. Pyramid lake hike was easier and no danger.

Roughly 11-mile round trip from parking lot which is 1.6 miles away from the trailhead. We did the whole thing in 5 hours which included a brief lunch break up at the tower. We are casual hikers so experienced hikers will be faster. Terrain is moderate. A few narrow parts that require care and adult supervision. Our feet were in pain on the descent and 1.6 mile return trip from trailhead to car! We were the only ones on the trail.

Had a great time doing this hike. It's about 11 miles to get to the tower and it's all up hill. I highly recommend it to do in the cold winter or spring months as it's too hot to do it in the summer time. There is hardly any tree cover on the trail, so bring your sunscreen. It took us about 3 ½ hours to get to the tower. The views once you get to the top of the mountain are gorgeous! You can see Piru Lake and of course Pyramyd Lake. During the springtime, you'll have the opportunity to experience the wild flowers along the trail.

Pretty moderate hike, in my opinion but in general the view is pretty spectacular.

The gate was closed and walked 1.8miles on tarmac to get to the trail. Once on the trail it seemed to be a dirt access road for 1 mile but it turned into a single track the rest of the way. All dirt trail, no rocks to climb over. Full sun, bring the sunscreen.

Little to no shade so bring plenty of water. I ran out with 2 miles to go. From the main gate to the tower is about 11.5mi round trip.

Make sure to visit the fire lookout tower. For those who need water. There is water under the in a box that says water. Please take what you need.

This is a moderately challenging hike with great views of Pyramid Lake, Lake Piru, and the Angeles national Forest at the top. The trail can be a little washed out at parts, but all in all it is well maintained. Once you have parked, walk along the closed portion of Templin Highway for about 1.5 miles and you will see the fire road on the left that is the start of the trail.
