Great Mex Grill

You order at the counter and they bring the food and drinks to you.
The 8 of us came in an hour before closing and they weren't scared... still delivered delicious food!!
Friendly/professional staff, clean establishment, next time will try some cocktails!

Pretty much the best fish tacos I've had. The hot sauce complimented it very well. Also the black bean tacos were very delicious as well. Our cashier was very friendly and the food came out super quick. Definitely recommend to everyone!

Vegan tamale, mushroom taco and black bean tacos. The flavor was off the hook! What an amazing little surprise. And they have plenty of meat options for everybody else.

Great food. Came out fast! Many meals less than $11. Great portion sizes. We tried a quesadilla, macOS and a burrito in our group and they were all excellent! It’s a small place with not much atmosphere but food and service makes up for it!!

Shrimp tacos with flour tortillas. All day, every day. So bomb. They cost 4.25 a piece, so a little pricey, but we ate it 3 out of 4 days. Order online to pick up. The lobes can get long, and the restaurant is small inside. Must get while in New Port!

We have eaten here multiple times and enjoyed it each time. Our typical order is hard tacos, a chicken burrito, and out guilty pleasure, a side of fries. Besides the food being delicious, they have amazing salsas ranging from mild to extra hot. The staff is excellent and service quick.

The atmosphere was great in the restaurant and the food was amazing. While their service was a tad slow I can't blame them because there was 10 other people in there at the time of my visit. Also I still dream of those Carne Asada Fries, if you come here you HAVE to try them!

This place has great food, drinks, service, atmosphere and prices. Everything we got was delicious and really went above and beyond what I expected. The music was fun too and had me dancing while I ate. Definitely will go back to my new favorite Mexican restaurant on the peninsula

Fish tacos had so much flavor to them. The sauce was out of this world. We got the guacamole and chips, and it was a huge portion. Super filling and yummy.

Delicious. One word. The gem of Newport. If you want some casual, reasonably-priced ‘delicious’ Mexican food - stop in here.

Taco Tuesdays and Fridays can't beat the price, quick service, good food. We had carnitas, carne asada, fish, and shrimp tacos Mexican tacos. Delicious

Great Mex is a NPB institution, just a staple when it comes to delicious, flavorful and fresh top-notch Mexican. The nachos are to die for, the shrimp burrito is amazing, California burrito is lights out, the tacos are great, the carne asada plate is perfect, the shrimp quesadilla - woah. Service is homemade, and it’s a place you just want to keep going back to time and time again. A local gem. Don’t miss Great Mex when you’re in the area for some of the best Mexican food bar none. Legendary.

Can't go wrong with Great Mex. Long time customer here who has tried almost everything on the menu. My favorites include the healthy Mex burrito bowls and California burritos. Good breakfast too. Still the best Mexican food on the peninsula!

Yummm, this is totally a locals spot. Small little home in the wall, packed with people all the time. I’ve not had a lot of different food here bc I usually go for tacos lol. Tuesday and Friday they have 1.25 tacos and who doesn’t like to eat out for under 5 bucks! It’s right by the Balboa Pier. Parking a pain but I’m usually on foot when I go and no pets.

PS they have an awesome salsa bar if ur that kinda person as am I!

Great Mexican food. It's in the name. They offer a pretty standard menu and there's nothing wrong with that. Breakfast is solid too. 👌 I get great Mex every time I stop by the area so I'm kinda biased. Pretty solid atmosphere being in Newport Beach.
