Newport Landing Restaurant

I absolutely love this place! It has one of the best sunset views in Newport Beach! Top 3 in fact. As the sunsets over the bay, the whole place lights up with Beauty.

I come here for the happy hour usually and I’m satisfied with great drinks and great service. I don’t necessarily come here for the food come here for the vibe and the drinks and the food is just OK. I feel like it’s a really great value and sol happy hour in Newport Beach.

Wow! We drove up to Newport for a day trip from San Diego for some whale watching and hopefully some really good seafood. This place did not disappoint! We would drive an hour and a half just to eat here again. Everything was just so fresh. The service was great and the location can't be beat. So happy we found this place. Definitely going back soon.

The food & drink was great!! I had the Cajun Salmon Taco and fries. With the cajun seasoning added it was delish! I did not capture a pic of the taco but it was great. The Cadillac Margarita was also great and the Caesar salad was good just ask for extra dressing on the side.

Our waiter Ramon was okay. He was a little impatient and bit rude at times. He got the manager when we never requested for the manager. However, the manager Carlos was fantastic and very helpful. I don't mind returning.

Nice casual restaurant with lovely views. I had the Salmon marinated in Marmalade with the coconut panko crust and lemon cream sauce. It was excellent!! I don't care for coconut but you don't notice it as it blends well with the other flavors. The vegetables along with my husband's steak were perfectly prepared. Service was also excellent. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. Overall, a great night!

Charbroiled oysters are the best I've had in awhile. So fresh and delicious. Service was awesome, our food and drinks came fast and stayed full. Very laid back place on the water with great happy hour prices all day.

I would rate that place more than 5 stars if possible, we did not have any reservations on a Sunday afternoon which is obviously a busy time of the day but yet we were welcomed and accommodated in less than 10 minutes and probably in the best place on the upper deck patio where you can see the awesome view and enjoy the nice music, the whole vibe is outstanding, the drinks and the food are good but the service and the place complimented the whole experience. Prices are reasonable for such a place in balboa island, portions are good but definitely could be better, the food is fresh and taste good, the place is very authentic and the decorations and wall mount pictures add to the general ambience, it is highly recommended specially of you are more into seafood. We tried the fish and ships, pasta with white sauce and salad and it was great

Zomg! So delicious! The options were solid and flavor on point. I would have liked a little more meat in the appetizers but overall I am leaving full and happy. Our waitress, Jen, was really nice, attentive and got it right every time. A++ best experience on our last big meal on vacation. Spring Break 2019, is officially a success.

We went for the Harbor Boat Parade and dinner. It was a very enjoyable, not rushed evening.

Delicious food with excellent views. We waited 20 minutes at lunch for an outside seat, which I highly recommend.
The oysters were fresh and clean, the clam chowder in the sourdough bowl was top notch, and the fish tacos were wonderful. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants lunch with a view.

One of the lifeguards in Newport Beach recommended this place for a birthday dinner when we were visiting the area. It became a favorite place to visit whenever we were in town. Cannot recommend highly enough. Service, food, beverages...all superior. Even have a tremendous happy hour.

The name,, Newport Landing, refers to a nice little area where a cute little pair of 3 car ferries bring cars and people across the little strait to and from Balboa Island. There's a recreational area with rides appropriate for children.

The Newport Landing Restaurant is quite good. It has valet parking, and there's also street parking.

We had calimari. It was reasonably good. I had New England Clam Chowder. It was very good. I also had mussels in marinara sauce, also good, and a garden salad. The restaurant was clean and neat. The server was friendly and efficient. The prices were reasonable. We had an excellent dining experience at the Newport Landing Restaurant.

The Newport Landing Restaurant has been one of my Go To restaurants for years. The upstairs of the restaurant has one best bay views on the Balboa Peninsula, with wonderful food options, cocktails and a nice casual atmosphere all for a very fair price.... Highly recommended!!!

2018 Update: Two Awards

We chose Newport Landing Restaurant for our end of year (2018) visit. Once again great food, drinks and service. Our Waitress Esperanza was great! I am a top Google photographer/reviewer: I am awarding my own Google Guide Top Picks .. Best Waitress of the Year for 2018.. Thank you Esperanza and thank you Newport Landing (One of my top 10 SoCal Restaurants for 2018).

What an enjoyable restaurant! We chose to sit on the gorgeous patio in the upstairs dining/bar area. We arrived in time for Happy Hours specials so we ordered off the regular menu for dinner and we also had a couple of HH specials.

On the Happy Hour menu we ordered the Clam Chowder, a Margarita and she had Rum something or other. Both drinks were good but the Clam Chowder ($4 on Happy Hour menu) is the best I have had anywhere (I ordered a second bowl and still could have eaten more. Great Clam Chowder! I had Fish for my meal (I ordered Cod because I like the flavor of Cod). I asked for their coconut rice instead of french fries (the rice is very good). My dinner came with their coleslaw which was a bit too bitey for my taste (I think they add some horseradish in it). She had a Lobster and Crab salad that she loved so we were both very happy with our visit (oh, she loved the Clam Chowder also).

The view is exceptionally nice as the restaurant is right on the water; as we ate upstairs on the balcony we had a great view (also the day was warm and the sky was clear; a beautiful blue).

People around us were very approachable (I am quite a friendly guy so I like that). The place had a good crowd both in the restaurant and at the bar.

The employees were well trained and were at our table right away for anything that we wanted. Esperanza was our waitress. She was very good at her job; quite attentive to us and her other tables.

The manager (John) was pleasant; I called him over to commend him, his staff and the Clam Chowder (geesh I wish I had a bowl of that right now).

Other staff of note: Juan the server was very helpful. Eric the greeter upstairs also did a good job. I enjoyed talking with Ryan and Tom downstairs; very polite and seem to be very smart guys.

I think you will really like this Newport Landing Restaurant as it is very good for many reasons. The restaurant is additionally set in a great location; surrounded by a lot of interesting places so you can enjoy time before and after your visit.

We have returned to this restaurant because we really like it. I think you will also. Have fun.

Enjoyed my visit here food was good service was great! Tracey with an E was such a wonderful host. I really hope management sees this post. I know first hand how hard it is to find good people to represent your business. This establishment should consider her a great asset. Great food and amazing service. Best crab cakes I have ever had. Excellent views from the deck. Right on the boardwalk with convenient parking directly behind the restaurant. The pier is only a few minutes walk away...

Great spot this place has a great view and the food is really good definitely sit upstairs outside the service was nice and the drinks were good and the price is a very good deal for happy hour noon to 6:00 p.m.
