Madrone Tasting Room & Wine Garden

Madrone is a very unassuming cute little spot that we almost passed right by! Thank goodness we didn't!

We were greeted by two very lovely ladies and decided to do tastings instead of glasses of wine. She offered to bring them out to the lovely deck and of course we agreed on such a gorgeous day!

We sampled 5 wines, each one unique in flavor and body. All were delicious! The deck is stunning having just been rebuilt after a devastating fire 6 weeks prior.
Service was great, wines were great and the area was great! We'll definitely be back!

I passed by this place a buncha times, thinking that wines produced on SJI couldn't be that good. Holy smokes, was I wrong! Thank goodness I figured it out, because it's also a really luvverly place to relax - fun and serene at the same time. Photo is San Juan Island still life with Kingston cider.

A must stop in Friday Harbor if you’re looking for a local drink. Their selection of ciders and wines are deliciously dry. We love sitting on the back patio with a glass or taking a couple of the new cans to go. Perfect for summer picnics!

We had their wine with a tasting dinner and it was great! By far the best wine we tasted on the island. We ended up buying a few of their cabs, the sparkling and the blueberry port and already want to buy more! Made a great gift as well, our neighbors thanked us for the great wine! The wine maker seemed passionate and well informed, thank you for the experience!

A few weeks ago I stumbled across Madrone Cellars (before the most recent stay at home order) and convinced my mom we should stop in for a quick wine tasting to support the new tasting room. I knew they had good cider as I had purchased that before from farmers markets over the last few years, but I didn’t know much about their wine, and to be honest I didn’t have high hopes (I’m kind of a ‘wine snob’). I was COMPLETELY blown away. My mom and I did a full tasting and enjoyed each one! I have already been back to buy more bottles and it will continue to be a part of my personal wine rotation. Their tasting space is super cute and I can’t wait until we are able to safely drink inside there again!

We stopped by here after seeing it while we were staying in town for a couple nights. What a treat! We had a lovely chat with the owner and did the wine and cider tastings, both of which were fantastic. Cheese board was excellent as well. Such a cute space they have put together. We’ll be back in the future and will certainly be recommending to friends!

This place is a must-visit when you are enjoying San Juan Island/Friday Harbor. Shaun (the owner) is awesome and extremely knowledgeable about both ciders and wine - he produces both. There is something here for everyone and you won’t be disappointed!! Supporting small businesses is so important during this difficult time and I hope locals and tourists alike continue to support this awesome business!

My sister and I were visiting from Wisconsin. We did the wine sampler and were pleasantly surprised by every wine. We ended up joining the wine club and are looking forward to getting our first shipment in March. Highly recommend.

This place is so awesome! The ciders and wines are delicious. My most favorite part of the place is Linda. She was so awesome and super nice! If you're in Friday Harbor you have to come and check this place out.

Very attentive service and excellent selection! The wild blackberry was my favorite. If you need a place to unwind or kill time while you're waiting for the ferry, this is the place!

Great atmosphere and locally made wines & ciders. Can't beat the friendly service and even some tasty nibbles. Definitely recommend going in for a wine or cider flight.
