Griffin Bay Bookstore & Cafe

Griffin Bay Bookstore is a well-stocked indie book seller in Friday Harbor. The store has a wide selection of books for readers of all ages, cards for special occasions, unique vinyl stickers, beautiful puzzles, and other fun gift items. We found several books and other goodies on our visit here! Definitely worth a visit for any book lover. 😍

There’s a small kids section to the back right of the store, as well as a cafe that serves a limited menu of tea/coffee drinks and pastry items.

Fun tip: the cafe has a puzzle table where you can collaborate with fellow patrons on putting together a large puzzle project. 🧩

Bright, busy, quaint, and easy to find, once you cross the threshold, this place will hold you hostage for the next few hours!

Just blocks from the Ferry dock, come in here after that delicious Americano you just consumed, totally caffeinated and ready for your next imaginary adventure!

A must stop while you're here visiting Friday Harbor. Plenty of inventory for all types of genres, a wonderful children's section, a nice little cafe in the back upstairs, games, puzzles...and poof💥

I scored a new release of a Tom Hanks Novel, (hardback mind you), and the price point was fair...so I bought it! Support locally!

Highly recommend you carve out some of your valuable visiting time to stop in here!

This is my favorite bookstore. I love the selection, the atmosphere, the quiet cafe in the back. I love the staff, and their vast knowledge of literature. I am simply smitten!

Local, independent bookstores are the best! Knowledgeable, friendly staff. Local author events. Café upstairs in the back.

Favorite stop every time I visit Friday Harbor. Great atmosphere, coffee bar in the back of the shop, really great kids selection. They sell books/cards/goods designed and sold by nw native artists. Perfect place to take kids to pick out a new book.

They have a large selection of new books and gifts. Plus it's not complete without a bookstore cat.

Great selection, wonderful staff, and cozy atmosphere. Everything you would want in a little bookstore! I went in looking for a book and the staff went above and beyond to try and help me figure it out.

They have a great selection of books for their size. There is a definite vibe in the store. I did enjoy the banned book shelf. Like any good bookstore, they have a great Moleskin collection. Enjoy!

Griffin Bay has an awesome energy to it! The kind that makes you want to keep turning pages and sipping on that coffee. Awesome selection of books. They host myriad authors local and otherwise all the time! I met a lot of cool folks and picked up some wonderful new idea thanks to Griffin Bay Bookstore, you should too sometime!

Cozy little book store with coffee and snack offerings. They regularly have interesting and thematic displays in their front area to pull you in. One of the things I focused on was the local authors section with books written by and focused on the San Juan people. It also features an extensive children's section. Stop by, grab a coffee and explore!

This review is long past due. Our family was visiting Friday Harbor a couple weeks ago and accidentally left a bag in their shop. I called the following day to inquire about the bag. They offered to ship it to us since we had been up there just for the day. One of best customer service exeriences I've ever had. Thank you so much!

So there are two parts to this review, the bookstore and the coffee shop.

Bookstore: Amazing and beautiful, great selection, and perfectly willing to order something if they don't already have it. Wonderful feeling being inside, and this may sound a little strange​, but it smells the way a good bookstore should. No mustyness, just crisp​ dry paper.

Coffee shop: Great coffee and surrounded by books. This is absolutely a writer's space. there's wi-fi, and lots of little tables and comfy chairs. The machines can be loud sometimes but thats true of anywere there makes good fresh coffee.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Wide selection of books for adults and children. Great gift selection too. Kids Books. Novels. Non-Fiction books. Books for the Ferry ride home. Maps. And Souvenirs.

Enjoyable visit! Small shop with a nice selection of books and novelty gifts. Appreciated the limited capacity and available hand sanitizer in place for COVID-19 safety procedures.

A few Saturdays ago while shopping at Griffin Bay bookstore, I left my credit card behind. I then traveled several states away going home. I communicated with the owner via email and she promptly sent my credit card to me. I was most grateful!

A dream bookstore with a very well curated selection of books across diverse genres. In the back is an excellent cafe, one of the few on the island that can make a dry cappuccino correctly.

Great store with lots of current selections and even though it's small, there is lots to browse. They also have a great selection of stationary items and gifts.

So organized, clean and pristine with helpful staff.

Really nice people work there and I love the friendly atmosphere. Great selection of adult and children books and gifts and espresso too.
