I graduated the Academy of Radio & Television Broadcasting in 1994 and went on to become an On-Air Personality at 94.3 KIK-Fm. I started working weekend over nights and within 6 months I moved to the morning show with Charlie Tuna (RIP). With the training I received at the Academy I was able to advance to Program Director within 2-1/2 years while hosting the Afternoon Drive Time Show. I attribute the rapid advancement to the training I received at the Academy. Speaking of training, 90% hands-on in studio's, with Music, News, Traffic, Weather and Sports. Now that's the kind of training that prepared me to land my first On-Air job. Remember, in life, no matter what your goals are, you must proceed with determination and perseverance, keeping in mind, "What you put in is what you will get out"!
I highly recommend the Academy of Radio & Television Broadcasting in Huntington Beach, California. They also have an On-Line Radio Course, if you live too far from Huntington Beach or if you are out of the State of California. Again, keep in mind, "What you put in, is what you'll get out of your training". When you call, tell them the, "Cisco Kid" recommended them.

I was in the Academy's TV/Video production course and graduated July 2012. I learned stuff that was amazing!. Almost all of the training was hands on in a real television studio. We got to use tv cameras, teleprompters, and learned video editing using Final Cut Pro and Avid. We produced commercials, magazine segments, talk shows and sports shows using the teleprompter, green screen and graphics. I always included footage I made in the telecast. Just like a real tv station! The class does a live broadcast every Thursday on u-stream, and all of the production was done by the students. If you wanted to be on camera,as I did, I could do as much as I wanted. I was taught to shoot commercials, how to do graphics, and how to utilize the all important green screen, which is a vital skill to learn. All of the instructors were very professional, and I even went out on a couple of real commercial shoots with my instructor Tim, who was amazing! In 2009 the school had invested a ton of money in equipment, adding another functional tv studio. I used financial aid to go to school, the financial aid guy was really good in getting me the grants and loans I needed. I am working as a freelance video editor thanks to some of the leads posted by the school. i am confident i can progress rapidly in my new career.
I found the school on the internet, and i never knew there was such hands on training available for this career. The Academy ROCKS!!!

I am an Academy graduate and I have a great job and make good money. I've worked in film, AV and IT. This training has given me the opportunity and skills to work in several industries. Always think outside the box and use this training to your benefit!

Overpriced. Very low standards. Don't let them hire you after graduation. Because when they finally fire you, Tom and Lindy will fight tooth and claw to keep you from getting unemployment.

The Academy NEEDS to DO MORE to help their Graduates find employment in radio. The Academy Of Radio And TV has a VERY POOR job placement assistance program.
