Pismo Family Practice

I don’t have enough room to voice all the positive things that I have to say about my experience with Pismo Family Practice. Kimen (under Dr. Weiss) became my primary care provider a couple of years ago, and I wish that I had found her earlier in my life! The first time I visited the practice, I knew there was something special about her. She is extremely smart, helpful, and professional, but she is also very down to earth and funny. You can tell that she really cares about you and she truly listens. She is so kind and warm, which is rare to find in healthcare and she surrounds herself with like-minded staff members who are amazing and complement her care so well. I have seen Kimen multiple times over the last two years and she has helped me tackle some minor and major health issues. I recently had to be seen for multiple visits requiring a lot of changes and extra paperwork, and not only did she find a way to squeeze me in for a visit initially when she is typically booked up for weeks, but she was also extremely accommodating and empathetic about my situation. She and every single person I have encountered there from reception to medical assistance have been wonderful and they went above and beyond to assist me in scheduling and getting everything taken care of during a very stressful time for me. I could not be more appreciative of this hardworking team and the short wait times, excellent communication, and their competence and efficiency. I also have been very pleased with the easy parking and cleanness of the facility. Five stars is an understatement!

I’ve been a patient at this practice for a few years now. Everyone knows how hard it can be to find a quality family doctor that truly cares for your health. I’ve been to doctors that literally just push you through the appointment without truly listening to your issues or showing a shred of compassion. Integrity is hard to find these days…That is why I’m very grateful for the Dr’s and staff at Pismo Family practice.They’ve treated me well and have gone above and beyond over the years. Very thankful for Dr.Weiss and Dr. Kimen…..I would definitely recommend this practice!

December 2017: I like Suzy the NP here. She is very straight forward and honest. She listens to her patients and treats us like friends. She helped me quit smoking after everyone else said it couldn't be done. The staff is courteous and friendly. I definitely suggest coming here to all my friends and family.

UPDATE October 2022: Thank you again Suzy! I am still smoke free!

It is Dr Kimen that makes my Day at Pismo Family Practice. She cares, and she is easy to talk to. She takes care of my regular check up needs. Thank you Kimen

Fabulous staff always helpful and never a long wait

I don't recommend anyone coming here. They are disorganized and providers ask very inappropriate questions like, "what are you" and when given my mental health diagnosis, "was it because you were hit or something?" Before my first appointment I said I wanted a female provider, when I got there they put me in a room with a male. When I explained (again) that I wanted a female provider they had me leave and reschedule. They will also never call you about your lab results- It has been over a week and no one reviewed it or called. I worked in a medical place before and this place is a red flag & ask for $100 each year like weirdos. Please don't waste your time like me! :)

I have been with Pismo family practice for three years. Just as a side note I pay the admin fee every year at my yearly physical in November/december. I July 2023 I noticed a lump on my left breast. Suzy sent me in for an ultrasound they said it was benign but then at the recheck in six months in July it grew 20% so I needed a biopsy. French hospital scheduled a biopsy for me I never heard back from suzie Williams. So the day I got my biopsy suzie Williams called me saying I needed a biopsy I informed her I already had one. My dr at hospital told me that my results would be back in three days and to check in w my general. I called to check since they were a little late in the first place no biggie suzie called me back and said their office manager quit and she was working 12 hour days and I would just need to be patient for my results and she will call me when she gets them. Ok just called once to check and see. She calls back with my results and says that the lump is benign cool ! But I needed not to worry and hadn’t I been through this before ? I said no and suzie said oh must of been someone else I’ll have the office schedule you for your November physical. So fast forward almost two months later when I’m trying to get life insurance they said that I was supposed to be referred to a breast surgeon per my biopsy results. Well I called the office and left a message as to why suzie never informed me of which is upsetting . No call back I go to an appointment today and they asked me for my co pay ok that’s fine and then a 100 dollar admin fee I said no I’m sorry I’m not paying that until I see the dr and figure out why I wasn’t given my proper referral to the breast surgeon and then I would pay it. The medical receptionist stood up in her chair and said then I’ll cancel your appointment! I was so upset I was trying to stop from bawling. There was zero compassion ! No listening only caring about the 100 dollar fee and not the many mistakes they have made like ordering the wrong blood work and the referrals they never sent in. I was on the phone because I thought Wendy Weiss was associated with dignity health and I know so many who work for them and I was working on reporting her. I out a hundred bucks at the window and told them I would pay it they said they wouldn’t take my money and would send my records to a new dr. So they took zero accountability for their mistake were hostile and rude for the get go they threatened to call the cops on me if I wouldn’t leave because I was upset because now I still need to be seen by a surgeon for my lump and I have no idea if I’m ok or not. I can’t believe that they hire people to treat anyone like that . I am reporting this to the medical board and whoever else. Wendy Weiss is not associated with dignity health anymore for a reason. Of course I was upset they were negligent in not telling me of the federal in my report. All the medical assistants had to say was sorry that happened let’s figure this out instead of shunning me away because I wouldn’t pay a fee I already paid !

Not liking this place at all, been here for the last few years and never felt like a priority. Always get put on hold until finally 10 min later they remember, the 1 doctor l felt gave me the sense that someone cared left, now I just feel herded. Definitely will be actively looking for a new office beginning today.

Absolutely horrible. The Doc is always to busy to see you in person. Their medical staff that sees you will literally laugh at you when you explain your symptoms. You basically have to cause a scene for them to right a referral to get scans or labs. Then they will lose the results and won't tell you, so you get left wondering what happened. Then they want you to call the places and have them resend the results to them.. but guess what.. as a patient they won't allow your request to send them over again.... they claim they will call and request them with a promise to call you right back, but never do.. when you follow up again, it's left with "we'll call you back when we receive the results."...... do yourself a huge favor and don't go to this practice.

Five stars would be for Kimen, but she no longer works there - maybe because she was coworkers with Char. Char is who I saw today for the second time and every single visit she’s been rude and disrespectful.

My first visit with her I was about a month postpartum and had postpartum hypertension. She told me at that appointment that because I have postpartum hypertension, I would have it for the rest of my life. She also told me that I’m severely obese and overweight. I’m 5’6” previous Olympic weightlifter… of course I’m heavier.

Second visit, today - she brought up my weight again & this time in front of my son. She looked at him and said, “You know you’re why mommy is so big.” I shrugged it off and then she proceeded to state that I’m still overweight and obese (I’ve lost 20lbs since last seeing her). She stated that I’ll be able to lose all of that weight chasing my son around. She is nasty, rude and has zero people skills.

I wish Kimen would come back.

I should have went to the ER, I was in severe back pain, suffering, and they refused to treat me. Then charged me for the office visit. I taught them a valuable lesson weeks later after receiving their bill.
I paid it in cash, $135.00 in pennies, dumped it all over the front desk and they rolled off everywhere. Now I hope they have back pain picking it all up.
Unethical, inconsiderate, wanna be, so called doctors!

Five stars would be for Kimen who is no longer there. Saw the N.P. Char today and she could not have been more rude. She told me she was busy and didn't have time for me to tell her what was on my list. My list of 2 things. The one spot my arm itches because I'm old and she didn't even look at my toe. She spent 3 minutes with. Thank God for cell phone audio.

This place sucks . Spe t 3 years going here never was treated with respect from the secretaries and management. I was treated differently because of my knowledge of the medical field . The manager connie is very rude and disrespectful . One of their old employees Linda who still is friends with them would always tell me about everything that was shady about that practice . I will definatly not recomend this place to anyone

Terrible place. Waste of time.
