Shell Beach Inn

Fantastic hotel! We received a very warm welcome from Connie. The hotel room was beautifully and tastefully decorated, and spotlessly clean, with every comfort you could wish for. They've thought of everything: earplugs, toiletries, a cooler with ice, a microwave, a refrigerator, a coffee maker, and even popcorn. The room also features a cozy electric fireplace and air conditioning. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this hotel if you are looking to stay near Pismo Beach.

We just enjoyed a three night stay in the suite with our adult son who is stationed at Vandenberg AFB. What a delightful place! The succulent plants placed all around the motel were gorgeous! The suite was very spacious and superior over many Air B and B’s we have frequented. Spacious, comfy beds, fully to stocked kitchen and lots of extra little touches. My son loved the retro record player. It was a little loud, but the earplugs provided, drowned out the road noise. I would definitely return to the Shell Beach Inn!

The decor is a mix of retro furniture and rustic accents, giving it a unique and homey feel. The attention to detail is evident, from the cozy blankets and pillows to the thoughtful touches leaving an ice cooler with ice, ear plugs if needed, a little bucket with wipes to clean your make-up off, coupons for restaurants near by. If you have children there is the dinosaur cave about a block away.
The location is perfect for those looking to explore the area, with easy access to both delicious dining options and the beautiful ocean. It's clear that the hosts have put a lot of effort into creating a comfortable and welcoming space for their guests. Overall, a charming and inviting place to stay with a lot of character. We will be back to stay again.
Absolutely loved this place.

Lovely little motel. Our room was very clean , the area was quiet, bed was comfortable. The only complaint was the shower pressure is a bit weak and the hot water takes a long time to heat up but that may just be a function of the area or how their water is done. The important thing was the high level of cleanliness, comfort and free parking. The area was nice also, walkable to the beach, some of the small coffee shops and stores in the area were lovely.

This place was a lovely little surprise for our one night stay as we drove up the coast. The staff was super helpful and set us up for a touch less check-in. Shout out to Connie for being so lovely to work with!

Wonderful location and beautiful rooms. In walking distance to restaurants and a short drive to Avila Beach. The heated pool was delightfully perfect for our family of 4. We stayed in room #6 and only wished we could have stayed longer. The beds were very comfortable and luxurious!!! The personnel were friendly and very helpful. They welcomed us with a container of fresh ice, popcorn and hot chocolate packets for the kids.

The Shell Beach Inn was amazing. From the time we checked we were serve with great hospitality and kindness. The location was great about less than a block from Pismo Beach. There was plenty of good food, music, and arts and craft. Let me say, the Junior Suite #11 was very nice and clean. We didn’t want to leave. We only stayed 1 night. We got an opportunity to meet the owner. He was nice and a delight to speak with about his hotel. We definitely have found are hideaway spot forever. We will be returning soon!!

This boutique hotel was perfect for our weekend! The room and property were well-cared for, personalized, and comfortable. I loved the mini kitchen with dishes already supplied for a night in if you wanted. The pool was decorated with inviting lights, well-heated, and included a cozy lounging area with heaters. The owner checked us in and came to our room to make sure that we had everything we needed (including coupons for the surrounding food establishments & popcorn) and when he found out it was my birthday, he even gave me a free bottle of my local wine!

I instantly fell in love with this beautiful boutique hotel! The service was great and the room was beautiful! The pool area was my favorite, lots of places to sit and relax and my favorite part was the cozy blankets on each chair. I also loved that we were walking distance to restaurants and markets. I have already booked my next stay!!

What a fun place. We stayed in the suite. It was very roomy for a family of four, even had a front and back patio! The kids loved the record player with old albums.

My family and I just checked out of Shell Beach Inn this morning. I can't say enough good things about this place. It was our first stay and I, honestly, plan to come back. The room was pretty, clean (and it gave me that clean feel not just superficial clean, thank goodness), and staff was so nice! My kids loved the proximity to Dinosaur Caves Park as well. They enjoyed the pool and it's nice little seating areas (can you say backyard inspo?) ❤

It's a two-star hotel but it's better than that. It's a really cute, quaint, little place. And I mean little. There are only about eight rooms around a small parking lot. It's all one level.

We had a two-person room. It has a queen bed. The room is small. There is room for one chair alongside the bed. It's pretty tight but for two people, it was fine. The room was clean.

The bed was pretty good. I like a firm bed. It was fairly flat (not saggy). It seemed like it had a pillow top. The pillows are the usual hotel pillows that don't support your head.

There was a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. They all worked fine.

Shower was fine. Decent water pressure. Shampoo and rinse supplied in a dispenser. There was the usual hotel bar soap. Although the sink was small, it had a wide flat rim around it that was wide enough to place a glass, toothbrush, etc.

The room had electrical ports and charging ports built into the lamp on one side of the bed. Lighting was decent in the room.

The front desk woman was very nice and efficient. She walked us to our room (I told you it was a small place). She recommended the take-out place next door for dinner and it was great. It was a Meditranean take-out counter in a liquor store - believe it or not. Five stars for that place, too.

We got take-out from the Meditranean place next door. There wasn't enough space in our room to comfortably eat but there was a small table and two chairs right outside our door (all room doors). The housekeeper saw us and pointed out that the tables around the pool were better for eating. Impressive since she didn't have to say anything.

It's close to Hwy 101 and you hear road noise. They supply ear plugs but I didn't use them. You hear traffic on 101 but the road must be fairly smooth because you don't hear any banging or thumping over cracks and holes even when truck went by. It's really more like white noise but if you're a light sleeper, I guess you should use the earplugs.

There is a pool, which we didn't use but they say they keep it at 85 degrees. No spa. The pool has some decent seating around it. Towels are provided in the pool enclosure.

Would definitely come back.

The remodel was amazing! The service was amazing! Dave and Jody were super welcoming and helped make our weekend getaway happen. Everyone was blown away about the rooms and especially suite! Kids love the heated pool and a quick walk to dinosaur cave park. We were able to rent out the whole place for our wedding party and family and they helped make our weekend special. Must stay. We will be back!

Dave was super accommodating and friendly when we arrived late on Sunday. Took the time to show us how everything worked in the room and outside by the pool. Our stay from Sunday to Wednesday was awesome and very restful 😊. Dave even suggested the restaurant two blocks away, Zoro's and gave us a coupon for 10% off. Delicious dinner and can back for breakfast. No complaints. Again, I can't stress how wonderful Dave was and our room #3 was very wonderful. Thanks Dave 👍

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in Room 9 during Thanksgiving weekend and we loved it so much. The owners gave us a very warm welcome along with great recommendations & deals for food in the area. It's a short walk to a beautiful view of the ocean as well as local resturants, cafes, etc. The pool was lovely even just to sit by. The room is so beautifully designed. We especially loved the dimming lights and the "fire place." The bed was very soft and comfortable. We met one staff member who greeted us by the pool and was very friendly. Seriously, no complaints at all and we will definitely stop here again during our next road trip down the coast. We honestly felt cared for here, and we are so grateful to have found this place!

What an AMAZING place to stay! Dave and Jodie we so welcoming and friendly! The room was beautiful! we stayed in room 4, and there was a bookshelf loaded with great books (I borrowed one) The room was incredible and clean with rose petals on the bed for Valentine's Day! The pool area was also lovely. Jodie had everything we needed and more! We only stayed one night traveling north. We loved it so much that we booked the Suite for our wedding anniversary this Summer. PLEASE visit Shell Beach and stay here! The ocean is at the bottom of the street, and so much to do nearby! The mascot cat was so cute and very friendly as well!

Clean and quiet this was a wonderful stay to celebrate our anniversary! The bed was very soft and it was in a wonderfully convenient location. The staff was incredibly friendly and hospitable, we will definitely be coming back!

Stumbled on this gorgeous lil gem inn absolutely amazing. Dave is awesome the property and room #4 was gorgeous. Couldn't ask for anything more. The pool area was a cool set up and yes the pool was 86 degrees. Highly recommend won't be disappointed. Will be back next month Dave. The wine was amazing.

I highly recommend to stay here! The rooms were amazing, clean and so comfy. Dave was very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our time here. Unfortunately we just booked one night. Pismo is such a beautiful place. If I've had the chance, I would have stayed longer.

We had a wonderful stay at this cute, quaint hotel. It was recently renovated and they did a great job with all the updates. Dave and Jodi were great hosts! They really make you feel at home and offer so many recommendations for local businesses. They are available to answer any questions or help with anything you need. We love how the rooms circle around the pool area. We traveled with our son and our room was right next to the pool. It made it so nice to order dinner and take our monitor out for a poolside dinner. The tables have a fire feature in the center along with the bistro lights & blankets for when it gets chilly. Makes for a nice date night. Could not have asked for a better escape. It is also perfectly located off of the busy path in Pismo. It’s a short walk down the street to the cliffs and beautiful ocean view, as well as the park for the little ones to run around and play. The park has a nice walking path and it was so nice to have that close by. Thankful we found this place and look forward to returning in the future.
