Cottage Inn By the Sea

Friendly staff, gorgeous-view oceanfront rooms, and dog friendly. Really enjoyed having a glass of wine on top of the cliff watching the sunset. It's also really nice being able to walk so far on the clifftop walk from hotel to hotel. Some minor issues to overlook: noisy ceiling fan, window won't stay open, stains on linens and wallpapers, and night staff needs training on being more helpful/friendly. But overall a wonderful stay at a good price.

Absolutely love this place! The view of the ocean is to die for! There is a beautiful garden with fire pits and plenty of chairs and a pool and hot tub too! And direct access to the beach! The rooms are cute and the staff are super friendly. There is no place to eat dinner at the hotel but they have breakfast (dinner places are in walking distance). They even have 2 EV chargers (1 Tesla and 1 non-Tesla)! This place is awesome!

Fabulous location and the views of the ocean and pier are breathtaking! I was in the newly renovated Ocean Front King with Patio room and it was great! The room is cozy with a fireplace and the all the amenities worked without any issues.

The proximity to Downtown and access to the beach is my favorite part about the hotel. The staff (especially Trish and Evelyn) is very helpful and accomodating and the check in / check out process is smooth!

Overall, great find and would visit again!

The perfect weekend getaway. Oceanview King affords the best experience for listening to the waves and staring out at the incredible scenery of the Pismo coastline. Rooms are clean with coffee mess, refrigerator and flatscreen. Beds are comfortable. The common area features gas fireplaces with lounge chairs perfect for making s'mores and either meeting new people or cozying up with beloved. The pool is clean and conveniently located. They are now serving food in the lobby restaurant. Couldn't recommend this special place enough.

This hotel is so beautiful and the views are amazing! We stayed in an ocean front view room and it was really nice. The fireplace was very convenient when the fire pits downstairs were occupied. Not very big, but roomy enough for us that it didn’t matter. The only downside was that there are people down by the fire pits often and some are rudely loud but that doesn’t reflect on the hotel!

I have no complaints in regards to Cottage Inn by the Sea! Fabulous location and views, easy access to Downtown, Dining, Shopping, The Pier, Pismo City Beach, Parks, local attractions and The Pismo Boardwalk.
Cottage Inn by the Sea has its own beautiful private beach, lovely swimming pool and spa. The rooms are cozy, spacious, clean with many amenities. The room pricing is a really terrific value! Especially when considering the location, amenities, private beach, views, quick access to Pismo Beach Pier, Parks, Local Attractions and Highway Access and Downtown Access. You Can't Miss If Your Choice is Cottage Inn by the Sea For Your Lodging.

Second time we stayed at this cute little hotel, simply because we LOVE the hot tub on the cliff overlooking the ocean! The rooms are really cozy, each one having a fireplace and the beds are super comfy. We will be back!

This place is great! Love our ocean view room. A fire pit outside is perfect for breezy nights. Staff is very helpful ( Thanks,Trish) walking distance to all the restaurants and entertainment. Highly recommend this resort.

Cottage Inn By The Sea is one of our favorite spots. The hotel itself could us a bit of updating but it's comfortable. We usually get an ocean front patio room. We pick up cheese, crackers and wine to watch the sunset. It's a spectacular view from our patio. The mornings are amazing and we usually do 10 mile beach walk and end near the pier for lunch. You'll want to drive to Avila to spend the afternoon walking around the cute beach town. And spend another day drive/afternoon in nearby SLO. Lovely people, great location and the views are just heart stopping!

Absolutely beautiful! Walkable to everything. Fireplace in the rooms. Just lovely! Will stay again next time I"m in the area.

We had amazing time utilizing all the amenities. The room had great views, great custom serviced. The only complaint I had was that the room was a bit stuffy. No AC unit. We did have a fan and the microwave was broken but those are just the little things are experiences is amazing, despite the little hiccups

This was such a peaceful and comfortable hotel. The views were amazing, the beds and pillows were comfortable and we loved having a fireplace in the room. It was a safe location and we enjoyed our stay.

This was such a beautiful hotel, staff was polite. Our room was clean and comfortable. We loved having a spa but he best was the fire pit. It also had easy access to the beach. We are looking forward to returning for future trips.

A very nice hotel. I felt safe and the rooms are very nice and clean. The location is wonderful, so close to the Pismo pier and shops.

We paid a little extra for the premium corner room with ocean view. Friday night in July, it was pretty expensive, but seemed to be the best value in the area. Surprised how expensive all the hotels in Pismo are, seems like their experiencing some inelastic demand without increasing supply and some short run price gouging.
I digress. Place was nice, staff friendly, hot tub was big and very hot. Location amazing, grounds were cute, parking was easy. Would go back 10/10

We asked for a room with AC which we got and it was nice, it didn’t come with a remote though to operate the AC. So I had to climb on a chair to reach the AC unit. If I, who is 6.2”, didn’t go my wife wouldn’t be able to reach it.
Room is great, felt comfy. Nice location. 1 other thing is that the people above us were noisy all night. Sounded like they had a walk-a-thon all night just back and forth it was a little hard to sleep. Beds were way to soft also. But it was a great time.

The 5 stars are for the location, very close to the beach, very close to most places in Pismo, and definitely, you want to rent a room with a patio. I would say one thing, for the price, I think they could do better, like giving bottles of water for free, yes we get it, this Inn is by the sea, but sometimes the little things do matter. Overall this Inn is a good choice if you are in Pismo and you want to rest.

5 mins from downtown. 2 mins from 101. It's a great place. Affordable. Be warned, there is no ac in the rooms. Windows up at night with the ceiling fan, was enough comfort.

Shared access to the beach bellow. Modest pool great for kids. Parking is enough for the facility. Starbucks coffee in the morning at the main building/lobby.

Great value for what you pay for.

Keep belongings at all times when on the patio chairs or pool chairs. Wife had her designer glasses taken.

But good place as a family.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The rooms are spacious with tall ceilings and a gas fireplace. The courtyard view of the ocean, also with firepits, was wonderful! And we had easy access to the beach without being right in the busyness of Pismo Beach pier and shops.

For a family of 4 the room was really spacious. Nice restaurants on walking distance from the hotel. Free parking next to your room door
