Jim Startup's Foreign Car Repair

I have been going to Jim for several years based on a co-workers recommendation. Each time I walk away respecting him more, and wanting to hang out with him! He is honest and has never recommended unnecessary repairs, in fact once he told me I still had several months left on my brakes and to hold off. On one of the visits he saved me thousands of dollars (approx $8k) by identifying there was something wrong with my transmission and recommended I take it into the dealership because it was still under warranty. Sure enough, there was a huge issue. I've recommended him to all my friends and family and they are just as impressed. Jim is the absolute best. I'm forever grateful to my former co-worker for recommending him.

Jim is our go to car support! We’ve taken our two cars there multiple times and he has always been informative with his diagnosis of the issue/the fix, speedy, and affordable. As of late, I called him about our 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee not making any noise as we try to turn it on hoping to set up an appointment to bring it in. Jim being the wizard that he is actually just gave us advice to try on the Jeep before bringing it in to him, we did it, and it worked. Such a great mechanic, we will never go anywhere else! We genuinely wish that we could give him 10/5 stars.

You gotta love this guy! Great dry sense of humor & honest to boot. I own a 2008 Acura MDX. The dealership reccomended over $3,000 of repairs. Jim checked out my car and said there's nothing unusual or urgent going on. He saved me $3,000. He charged me $0.00 and I had a great time at his shop, too. Good-bye dealership, hello Jim, you've earned my business and trust.

This place is the real deal. Half of what you’ll pay at a dealership or some other places and fast and honest. We had a headlight out in a 2009 Acura TL. You would think you could do that yourself and sure, you can try. You got to take off the fender cover inside the wheel and leave the wheel off. Acura wanted 400 plus. Jim knocked it out in no time for half the price. This place is a real gem. He even fixed the turn signal which hasn’t worked in 4 years. Love this place! The last of the best car fixing places in Washington.

Relied on Jim to keep my 5 vehicles in great shape during child rearing. Down to one vehicle again, now.

Where do I start? I didn’t t realize there were Mechanics who actually were this honest, n fast, n kind! Had an emergency on the hwy- on my lunch hour 😩- My friends dad followed me to this shop n I was immediately helped, car diagnosed and part ordered w same day completion! My car was done when I got off work! It was extremely low cost compared to the Jeep dealer, where I’ve always gone. The knowledge Jim has is apparent the instant he talks to you. I’m so thankful for everyone at Jim’s startup! They were clearly very busy but still took my vehicle on site! Thank you so much! I’m so excited to have a new, honest n witty mechanic!

Jim really saved the day for my family yesterday! We were driving down the freeway when all the sudden our truck started shifting funny and then completely broke down. Our transmission lines had busted. We had it towed to this business after talking with Jim and within an hour we had our truck working again! Very nice and professional, knows exactly what to look for and what he’s doing.
We don’t live close by but if we’re ever in the area and need help again we know who to call! Thanks so much!

Jim is a fantastic person who has been in the mechanic business for a long time. He's VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE on many makes & models. I have had Great luck with Jim and his other mechanics I would highly recommend him to my friends to my family and also to the public, I really appreciate him and the work and the fact that he takes time to explain things to you which a lot of mechanics don't they just want to jab you stab you and hand you a bill. Jim got me in and out quickly. He explained both what needed to happen right away and what could wait.

Update 3/28/2023: Took my wife’s car in to a different mechanic for a once over inspection due to a recommendation from a friend. Ended up bringing it to Jim startup anyways. Jim found a crack in the radiator that the other mechanic didn’t find, and found it by actually checking the fluids that the other mechanic also didn’t do. Jim is one of the last honest mechanics in the area. Won’t waste my time with anyone else.

Jim and his team are undeniably the absolute greatest. Jim is honest and genuine about his care, no matter who it is. His goal is to do the job and save you the most money. He is incredible man with values and morals and is there just to do a good day's work. It is a pleasure speaking with him whenever I have the opportunity.

Brilliant. Recent attempt at catalytic converter theft left a 2 inch long cut in pipe before cat. Jim was able to fix it same day. Super awesome and very honest mechanic. I will be returning for other work on my Honda Element.

I won't take my vehicles anywhere else. I have both foreign and domestic vehicles and Jim takes care of all makes. My entire family uses Jim's. I have never waited more than a day and Jim has my car back to me. His mechanics are top notch. Plus Jim has great stories and is just a good guy in general. But be prepared, he doesn't mix words. Very straight forward in his business and his opinion.
