Nice, easy stroll or walk from the parking lot. The trail is a contrast from beginning under Interstate-5 and next to a sewage treatment facility but being very well maintained with an abundance of wildlife. There is a huge bald eagle's nest about a half mile from the trailhead. The trail is paved until you get across the bridge to Spencer Island. Over on Spencer Island, the trail to the north is covered with blackberry bushes. To the south, it's a little rugged and muddy. It's a couple of hours of peaceful fun though.

Spencer Island is a fairly large natural area where you can spend at least half a day exploring before you've walked every trail. It's made up of mainly unpaved trails that are (mostly) well-maintained through marshland, but you can walk along the riverfront on a large and winding paved path, as well. Near the water treatment facilities, there is also a paved path that allows you to walk along a reservoir on one side and marshland on the other. This location is great for nature enthusiasts, cyclists, joggers, and families that want an outdoor adventure without having to go very far from the city. It's one of my absolute favorite birding spots in the PNW - I highly recommend a visit.

We are happy to find this park. It's a nice stroll on a sunny day. We really enjoyed the beautiful snow capped mountains and look forward to checking this place out again in early spring when there are more migratory birds coming back to the area. For new visitors, you need to park outside the entrance in a small parking lot to the right of the road, about 1/3 miles from the entrance. There's no parking near or within the park.

Nice place for a quiet walk. I've been coming here for years, and it's always clean and safe. Great for the entire family. Full of life with bald eagles, blue herons, otters, sea lions, and much more. Excellent kayaking spot. There is a launch for kayaks because it's the home of the Everett rowing club. The paved trail from langus river front park to the bridge and back is about 3.2 miles. Perfect for a one hour walk at a easy pace. It's a bit hard to find from the freeway, but we'll worth it.

This park is so serene. We saw a couple eagles and lots of other beautiful birds. I highly recommend for individuals, couples, and families who want to explore for an hour or three. You can walk a loop or two and/or hang out and have lunch while looking at nice views. Don't forget the bug spray or protective clothing if you want to walk back thru the marsh area. If you make the adventure you'll get to see a sunken ship.

Welcome to Spencer Island County Park.
Located in North Everett along the Snohomish River
and Union Slough.
This is a beautiful multi-use park.
Despite any negative reviews from "tourists" this is a well visited and loved County Park well worth the effort if you enjoy wildlife.
Its probably not too exciting if you do not enjoy wildlife and yes there is a water treatment plant on Smith Island, but that is not part of Spencer Island!
Tons of birds Winter over on their travels and it makes
for a great day of bird watching and for fantastic views
of the sunrise over the Cascade mountains East of the park.

Well maintained trails allow users easy access.
Its not handicap or wheelchair friendly.
Hunters, bicycles and dogs are prohibited on the South
side of the islands waterways.
In Winter-hunting is allowed for ducks but only on the
North Side of the bridge and in posted areas only.

This is a fantastic place to explore!
A must see for the Everett area.
Beautiful reflections over the waters can be seen
45 minutes prior to sunrise and of course as
the sun sets.
The access trail along the chain link fence
by the treatment plant on the North side
follows the dike on Union Slough.

Great sunrise shots from this isolated part of Smith Island.
Watch for deer,rabbits,fox,mink,otters,weasels and ferrets.
Lots of Butterflies in the Summer!

It is a wetland sanctuary so although it looks like a swamp
but if one looks closer, there is an abundance of wildlife and natural beauty at ones feet.

Went here for a flat hike with my husband! The only two downsides are that you gave to walk a bit to get to it from the parking area and some areas are a little overgrown meaning you need to watch out for brambles. Other than that, it's an absolutely beautiful hike. Take your binoculars to look for birds and other wildlife! You'll be happy you did!

A beautiful area with nice walking trails that are mostly flat but somewhat Rocky. So many wonderful Birds to see and a great place to bring young kids. I'm sad I didn't get out here sooner!

We recently discovered this sprawling nature preserve, that offers hours and miles of level hiking, bird watching, and inspiring scenery with cascade mountains as a backdrop. Waterfowl, birds of prey, herons, etc are all around in abundance. Today we saw shockers, coots, grebes, etc.

Loved this place! It was a really great little lookout for the sunrise. A great photo opportunity and/or exercise. Parking is a little bit away from the "trail" head, but there's nice, marked paths and a good place to bike.

Very fun island to kayak around. Make sure you time the tides right, or you'll be walking a decent distance, also ne careful around the south side of the island, or you'll risk getting pulled into the Snohomish river. On the east side there were a whole bunch of decrepit abandobed steamboats, which in addition to the seal following me made for a great kayak trip.

Sweet little path near the river to walk on. The island is marsh like in the winter months but will be full of life in the late spring and summer. Fun for a quick walk and fresh air

We've been coming here over thirty years to walk and see all the different birds. Today our granddaughter got to see this boat on the river and play pooh sticks. Two eagles were screaming, flew overhead and landed in the trees above us!

Nice park and close to town! Only negative is it is right next to the water treatment facility. Possible it could be a little odorous during certain times of year. Other than that, really nice for some light exercise outdoors!

Not heavily advertised as a walking spot, or a spot for great scenery, but I guess that's a rule. That I'm breaking. Go to this place, especially during berry season. Yes, those Himalayan blackberries really are the scourge of the Northwest and they really did take over everything, but on Spencer Island, they are good enough to take home, wash, and eat. They grow in abundance and they're amazing. Make some pancakes or something.

Parking is a ways away from trailhead and not super easy to see where to park. The walk and views here are beautiful.

Cool place, little creepy at first (parking). But once you get on the trail it's a great walk. Wear mud shoes!

I love this place . I've noticed that the trail going left of the bridge is getting cleared. It's a great place to walk and chill.
