Zacks Handyman & Construction

I just recently hired Zack's Handyman & Construction to widen the entry our small room in our formal living room. Zack (the owner) is very professional as well as his crew who worked on the site. The best thing I like about this Handyman apart from doing an excellent job is his honesty and flexibility to last minute changes of the job as we had some thoughts about the outcome after the entry was widened. Zack listened to our concern and accepted these latest changes; he came up with a great idea and turned our small room into a beautiful extended formal living room! My husband and I are very happy with the excellent job they did and we will definitely hire Zack's Handyman again in the future. Not only they do a great job but they are also very reasonable as far as the cost of their services and they are able to finish the job on time per our agreement. We had Zack do 2 jobs at our house over the last year or so to remodel one room, change out flooring in most of the house and redo a bathroom. Both of them turned out great! Completion was either on time or a little early and I love my new bathroom.

Zack regularly performs work for our company, when needed. We couldn't be happier with the consistency and quality of the work he performs for us. We have no reservations about contracting out with him, and recommend him to others whenever possible. He is timely and always gets right back to us about the task at hand

It is with regret that I am compelled to write this review. Simple professional courtesy would have discouraged me from doing so.

My experience with this company was not a satisfactory one. Despite multiple attempts to get the owner/company representative to return to my business to review/check/audit the work that was performed, no one would return my calls. On the one occasion when my manager was able to speak with the owner and express our company's concern, the owner was rude and said the work was only guaranteed if it was work his employee completed (well, duh!). After that conversation, we were unable to get the owner to respond.

My dissatisfaction was that work performed was not done properly so that other vendors could come in and complete their contracts (for instance, preparing floors for carpet and linoleum). Roof work that was allegedly done was not watertight, so rain continued to leak in homes where sealant and patches has been applied. A standing written list of work expected to be routinely performed was not followed. Upon terminating our contract with Zack's Handyman & Construction, I had to hire another repairman to come in and complete simple jobs that had not been fulfilled.

Another issue that I will address in this review is the rude way in which the accounting person drove down to our business location on the day an invoice was issued, and demanded that we pay right then and there as she waited. My family has been in business for 31 years and has never had a problem with accounts payable. It was insulting that Zack's Handyman & Construction appeared to believe that I would not pay if I didn't have a representative of theirs aggressively pursuing payment. My contract stated a billing period of 30 days, but in some cases, we were billed weekly with the office lady coming each time to stand in our office and wait for a check. I don't understand from where this expectation of theirs arose, but it was demeaning.

Lastly, the handyman left with one of my keys to my business and has never returned it, again despite multiple phone calls and requests. It has been 8 months since we terminated the contract, but we have yet to see our property returned. We had to change our locks as a result of this breach of security and regard for our property.
