The River House

Calling all adventure seekers, wedding planners & road trippers seeking food & caffeine, the River House is minutes off of WA 2 on the way up to Steven's Pass. The abundant towering evergreens, cliff rock and meandering North Fork Skykomish River will soak up all life's problematic thoughts. Located about an hour or so from Seattle; worth the drive; rent a kayak, trail hike, rock climb, book your private event, come breathe mountain fresh air.

This place is awesome! Angel is so helpful and answered all my questions when looking for a home for my family member. The community is beautiful and well maintained. 10/10 recommend.

Index days community celebration.

We were offered to eat the bbq'd burgers, coleslaw , potato salad outside on the patio deck, all very tasty.

We opted to eat inside the restaurant as it was a bit warm outside.

The atmosphere created by the staff was friendly and service was professionally attentive.

Very nice place to enjoy a coffee, sit near the river, meet some locals, or book your rafting adventure at Outdoor Adventure family run business.

These guys are great! Bill, the proprietor, really got into helping me learn more about kayaking, my new hobby. He was able to express years of experience into a friendly and knowledgeable discussion. He really helped me understand some finer points of the technical aspects of "boat" handling.
The relaxing atmosphere of the River House itself is wonderful to behold. The local scene is alpine bliss and old country rustic. Fabulous place.

Beautiful spot run by nice people. Their Sunday hours were listed online until 7pm but when we showed a little after 5, they were closing already. These sweet people offered us the bar and to cook us burgers anyway. It was so nice and so appreciated, this is why I love small towns. They had a variety of really nice rentals to get you out on the water and are have fully guided options as well. The setting and dining room are gorgeous. Thanks so much again for feeding us and saving the day!

I am glad we chose 'The RiverHouse' for my wedding. The venue is definitely one of the best places i have seen in Washington. The wedding was in June and the place was beautiful with green river water, trees, railway bridge/train & the snow capped mountains at the back ground. All the guests loved the venue and were very happy to visit such a beautiful place. The owners were very friendly & flexible. They helped us with most of the things through out the wedding and the staff were extremely nice.All the information needed for the wedding is on their website and I would recommend purchasing the cleaning/trash disposal package from them as it helped me a lot.

Really great food and service. We rode into town on a bike ride and the owners treated us great. Brought out some chips and fruit to go with our delicious sandwiches. Ate on the deck with a gorgeous view across the river to Mt. Index. Just a super place in a wonderful scenic setting.

Great coffee and views. Went for white water rafting with his family being guides was an awesome experience. Everyone in my group had so much fun!

2nd time coming here. Went rafting with events and adventures. The owner is a nice guy cooked us all burgers

This café hosts a space that feels like home. The people who work at River House are so kind, the coffee is amazing, the breakfast sandwich is delicious-- the prices are more than fair, why would you ever want to leave? I appreciated the genuine 'home away from home' feeling more than I can express.

The people here are amazing! Crashed a drone in the river and Blaire (one of the outdoor adventure employees) put on a full wet suit, waded out to the middle of the river and retrieved it!!!

Such an amazing act of kindness to take the time out of his day and go in to a freezing river to grab something I stupidly crashed!

Whenever we're Index, we'll definitely be taking the time to stop and visit.

As I was wrapping up my day at Outdoor Adventure Center I realized I had finally found a business worth a Yelp review. With numerous options on the river I talked with some friends who recommend Outdoor Adventure Center (Wave Trek). As soon as you exit off highway 2 and head into Index you are greeted with the beautiful rafting base camp. Plenty of snacks to grab before you head out on the river and plenty of Micro Brews for when you get off the river. As soon as we arrived the staff was super helpful and made sure all questions were answered before gearing up. We then headed to the back yard where all the gear is hung up dry ready to go. The staff made sure everyone was set up correctly and ready for the water.

The connivance factor is huge, everything is in one location, no need to gear up then jump in a van to take you to the river. Once your gear is on you walk 20 feet past the hot tub and hop in the raft.

We were one of the first commercial trips of the season so the water level was pretty low. This being said our guides Blair and Bucky gave us an awesome day on the river. Both super knowledgeable of the history and geology of the area. Even though the river was low it was still good fun and some pretty solid rapids. I will for sure be going back once the water is at peak height.

When we got back, the hot tub was ready to go at 104 degrees. While soaking in the waterfront hot tub the BBQ was fired up and the staff was cooking steaks on the deck. We then headed up to the deck to enjoy beer, steak, pasta salad, salad salad, watermelon, and strawberries and sunshine. The food was amazing and there was more than enough to go around. Being one of the first sunny almost 70 degree days of spring we stuck around on the property for a few more hours. Relaxing in the sun, playing the manly game of throw rock at a rock, and tossing the stick for the two family dogs (picture on the review) couldn't ask for much more from a day on the river.

Before leaving I purchased the pictures and received $50 towards my next trip. I highly recommend doing this, you get the pictures and a down payment on your next trip. It is truly refreshing to see an honest family run business. We felt as if we were hanging out with an extremely hospitable family rather than someone who is trying to churn and burn customers for profit. All and all this was one of the better experiences I have had in the outdoor industry. Thanks and look forward to seeing you when the water hits 11k.

A great place to relax and reflect what God has planned in your lives. Love the owners love for the lord and seeks what the lord has in plan for their businesses. I pray for owners and their families to seek the lord and follow the path he lies in front of them and I pray for protection on them and whom ever they meet would see the glory of God in them. Quiet spot with a reasonable (and apparently somewhat seasonal) set of food selections. They have a wide selection of beverages available as well. The outdoor seating was comfortable, and the staff was friendly.

I had a great conversation with one of the owners of this place and they go above and beyond to ensure you are happy with their service! Glad to see that they are building the various old buildings in town.

Awesome place. If you're around the Index area stop in. The family who own it, are great people. Very honest, and a pleasure to be around.
