Cresson, PA is a town of only 1,600 people, yet very busy for its size. It’s known alongside several towns as a hotspot for train lovers, sitting along Norfolk Southern’s former Pennsylvania Railroad Main Line. It can be a busy line; about twelve trains passed through town in the hour I was there. Cresson sits on a long incline and locomotives can be heard chugging up the grade (along with helper locomotives at the end). This park is nice with a track-level platform, plentiful parking, an old PRR caboose, and venerable eateries like the Cresson Springs Family Restaurant and Vito’s within easy reach. You get wide angles of the tracks for good photos. You might meet many fellow train lovers from across the country and sometimes see two (or three) simultaneously passing trains. A great place to check out, and a great town to visit altogether with friendly people.

This is a small park right along the railroad where you can watch the trains go by, grounds were well maintained.

Nice little piece of local flavor which will be of paying interest for the casual visitor but might be days of fun for the railroad enthusiast. The park is small and right off of the street. It's close to great locally owned Iicecream and pizza places, plus Sheetz is right down the road. Good for photo opportunities. Good for kids. Any stay in Cresson should add a few minutes here just to say you did.

This is a very nice park for visitors and railfans to hang out and watch a lot of trains go by. It has a nice gazebo for those who want to say in the shade on a hot summer day. There is plenty of space to walk around. There is also a good observation deck to watch trains coming from both directions. It is conveniently located a block or two away from some local restaurants, including vito's restaurant & pizzeria (very good New York style pizza!). The park is also a few blocks away from the Station Inn lodge. Recommend any railfan/train watcher to visit this place.

My son loved climbing on the train car there and seeing the trains go by so close to where we sat. There are benches facing the tracks as well as a pavilion with picnic tables to sit and eat at while he enjoyed the trains.

Absolutely loved it. It was great to watch trains from this place as I never been here before and really got a kick out of it. I hope to come back one day.

Cresson is an absolute gem. The rail park platform boasts a gazebo and a few covered picnic tables. The lawn is mowed, and the garbage cans are emptied on a regular basis. There is ample free parking in the nearby city lot. Picture taking is best in the morning from the platform, but afternoon pics can be taken from parking spots along the tracks on the other side of the platform across the tracks. While in the area, be sure to grab some lunch at Vito's Italian Restaurant, located within a short walking distance from the platform. Simply, yummy!

Amazing place.. My kids have always loved this place. To see the excitement on their faces for over 14 years......priceless. Been coming here for years and this place is so nice. My boys always loved it here. Grab pizza across the street...watch trains go by. Priceless.

Nice park. My kids love to get fries and shakes from McDonald's and come here and watch the trains. They get a big kick out of it when the engineers blow the train whistles and wave. It's always really clean here.

Great view of the tracks, and awesome covered areas. Very clean. Caboose is a bonus! One of the better places to Railfan in the area. Would recommend for any train enthusiasts.

If you like trains (in my case, it's my son), this is a great place to view trains in action. We have been going there since he was 3 years old - he's 15 now and we still enjoy stopping now and then.

Wonderful trackside platform with tables & pavilion. Good amount of trains to view along Norfolk Southern (PRR) mainline. Plenty of great food and supplies nearby.

About a 40 min ride and 4 miles along the tracks to get to the train. When they're out of hours , they just shut it down where they are. Kinda like driving Big Trucks , ya could only drive a certain amount of hours in a day.

It's a place that is elevated to track levels to watch trains pass by. A better place is Cassandra, but I just didn't have the time to go there.
