Our 4 1/2 year Mastiff had a bilateral ACL surgery yesterday. Communication was incredible and the whole staff was so friendly. Trusting your fur babies with almost strangers is very nerve wracking but the whole experience was better than expected. Dr. Milan Milovancev Is an outstanding surgeon and we couldn’t be more grateful for him and the whole staff with the care they gave our Daisy.

Boundary Bay did an amazing job treating my 13-year-old cocker spaniel. I was referred here by my regular vet when they discovered a 2cm malignant mass on his anal gland and recommended surgery ASAP. I knew this was going to be stressful and expensive but getting my pup surgery was the best thing I could do for him.

BB was able to get him in very quickly to do all the testing (ultrasound, X-ray, bloodwork), and then get us in to meet with Dr. Herrera (oncologist) and Dr. Knapp (surgeon). Both vets were super thorough in their explanations of the diagnosis and what the surgery would entail. They were able to schedule his surgery the following week and were successful in removing the mass plus 3 lymph nodes (to send out for testing), then kept him overnight to administer pain meds/monitor him.

Everyone at BB was so friendly and helpful while we went through this. I was an anxious mess but they helped calm my nerves and were super communicative the entire time. We just brought our little guy home and I am so thankful they were able to successfully do this surgery and I know he was in the best possible hands. Thank you to everyone at BB!

This place is where we will go for our dog in an emergency! After going to Pet Emergency Hospital/Care in Mt. Vernon, WA the day before, we brought our still sick dog here! It sure is the hardest place to find as we came from Whidbey Island (60 miles away). Hope that the Google map is corrected and updated as we drove all over trying to find this place, within 4 blocks, as GPS sent us. Going to a VET TEACHING HOSPITAL is truly amazing! As our dog was still lethargic, whining in pain, then sleeping, and "not being herself" I recalled that our dog licked my husband's arm a few days before. He had specialized medical cream on his arms, which was deemed highly poisonous to pets! So we called the Pet Poison Helpline (PPH) with Boundary Vet's urging and opened a file. Paid on the phone with PPH and then given a case #. One lead vet at Boundary worked with our dog and the poison pathologists to treat our dog. The vet helped to get the answers we needed, and out the door we went, less than an hour after arriving! Wonderfully fast. The bill from Boundary was $200.00 and such an overall difference to Pet Emergency Hospital in Mt. Vernon. Boundary is our choice from here on out. So happy to have found them. The staff is alert and professional. I just told them that we were coming from Whidbey when I called them. They were ready for us. When we arrived the front desk had 4 people on! They fell over themselves greeting our dog (who looked happy and healthy... Of course). And we just about sat down in the waiting room and then we were called. 5 minutes later the lead Vet came in. Place was clean and ran efficiently. Worth the drive, the 2 bills and experience. Happy customers.

I'm a bit late writing this review but better late than never! Our Golden Doodle, Maggie Mae, broke her hind leg in October jumping up to get a leaf! We were referred to Boundary Bay for orthopedic surgery the next day. I'd like to thank all the nurses & care givers & especially Dr Milan❣. He was the best surgeon for our girl & kept us informed every step! We're very grateful to all of you. She's almost back to her old crazy self! Many thanks to all if you!

Thank you boundary bay for helping my cat Fig out! The surgeons I think stayed late to squeeze my cat into a surgery ASAP. This saved me some money and peace of mind. Thanks so much I’m so so so grateful for Boundary Bay! The surgeons and staff were so kind/helpful. They were really understanding and communicative. I’m tearing up in gratefulness of Boundary Bay right now and their help! 🥺

Started our holidays off pretty badly when our Brownie boy ate some rat poison. We didn't know what to do or where to go? Called the hospital and the receptionist was very helpful. We ended up taking Brownie here and he was very well taken care of, staff and vet are very caring people. The bill was very reasonable too!! Thank you 💗

Super pleased with the staff and vet, Dr Kate. Stella (our boxer) wasn't able to get into our normal vet, so we choose Boundary Bay Vet Specialty Hospital to help fix a laceration in Stella's thigh. The front staff and techs were all very kind, and it was obvious they enjoy the animals they work with. Also super happy that everyone was understanding (and accommodating) of shy dog behavior. It's great to know there is another accommodating, competent vet in Bellingham that I am comfortable bringing in my dog when my own vet is full. Thank you, Dr. Kate (and front staff) you made a Friday afternoon emergency trip to the vet far less traumatic than it could have been with your warmth, friendly smiles and quick work of fixing up Stella. I am so grateful for this wonderful veterinary facility. They helped my husband and I through the harrowing process of emergency treatment, decision making, euthanasia, and aftercare for our beloved, 20-years-young cat. We had never been through this process before, and we were very anxious about bringing our cat to an emergency vet facility, how she would respond, and what the experience would be like. From speaking to the friendly vet tech who took our call and advised us to come in, to the calm and kind vet tech who took our cat back right away, to the wonderful veterinarian we saw, Dr. Westcott, everyone we interacted with was very kind, courteous, patient, and informative. The facility was very clean and the waiting area did not feel crowded. Dr. Westcott patiently listened to our concerns and presented us with options to help us make very difficult decisions. Staff (vet techs, veterinarian) were very transparent about costs as well so we had some idea of what costs were affiliated with various options. They provided us with information on post-euthanasia options for our cat and coordinated her transfer to the wonderful Radiant Heart After-Care For Pets facility/team (which was the option we selected). They gave us all the time and space we needed to process everything and come to decisions, and to enjoy our final moments with our pet. It is with gratitude I write this review: I am so grateful for the Boundary Bay Veterinary Specialty Hospital team helping us through a very difficult day with professionalism, compassion and care.

Entire staff was professional and caring. Took our dog in at the last minute when she was in pain and we were staying overnight in Bellingham. Reasonable wait time considering the last minute appointment. Our dog was well taken care of and much more comfortable after her visit. Clean friendly facility.

The staff here was wonderful. They got my pup in right away, even though we were not clients. Apparently there are long waits to get into local animal emergency hospitals. This hospital is also an emergency hospital after hours, and their staff was also really helpful, and would have taken him in immediately. I got there right at the shift change. Cant say enough about the quality of care, the professionalism, and also keeping me informed of my pups progress constantly. Dr Johnson was great!

Recently my German Shepherd Dog needed a bit of a complicated surgery, he is almost 10 years old and so I was nervous of having him going under anesthesia. Dr. Knapp was extremely knowledgeable and kept us posted every step of the way. She returned to me by boy that after 2 weeks (other than the shaved area) you would never know he had surgery other than his "issue" is fully resolved. I can't say enough about her and also the entire staff. They were professional, honored by time and treated my boy amazing. Thank you!

Took my dog in due to most likely having cancer and at ER visit they were very respectful and understanding and never pushed us into unnecessary testing.

Got us in for a consult with Dr. Herrera 2 days later and she was wonderful. Explained everything to us simply and plainly and gave us all of our options, took time to answer all of our questions and even helped us make the decision to pursue palliative care without spending any extra money on tests.

Very thankful for how well my Dexter was treated and so happy with how lovely Dr. Herrera was with helping us to understand a difficult diagnosis.

We live in Mount Vernon and because of the holiday weekend, our vet could not perform the emergency surgery that was needed for our dog.
Our vet contacted this facility and they were able to get our dog right in!
They walked through all the steps, the what’s next and the what ifs and the right nows.
Very professional, very kind, very knowledgeable.
Everyone did such an amazing job in a very stressful, emotional situation.
Thank you to everyone!
Highly recommend!

Our Loki (4 year old terrier mix) had a medical emergency and collapsed. With all the difficulty in finding emergency vet care we came here. He was so well taken care of, with a complete mystery (still) their caring and comprehensive care was so reassuring. Even my distraught husband felt he got great care!

I’m here visiting from Oregon for the month. Last night my pup Hobbs began shaking his head and walking lopsided. I suspected a foxtail. I checked his ear, cut out some hair tufts, but could see nothing. Next morning I started calling vets; all bursting at seams. I was beyond concerned. One office suggested this Emergency care center. I called, we spoke, took some info and said, “Bring him in.” The staff, and Dr. Shield were exemplary. After examination Hobbs did indeed have a foxtail. He was sedated and it was removed. The entire process was approximately 3 hours. The cost reasonable for emergency care. I can’t say enough about this office and vet facility. Thank you from Hobbs and I both. It was a caring, professional experience.

Dr. Herrera has cared for our dog with cancer for the last 11/2 years. She has always clearly given us options, spent as much time with us as needed, promptly called with test results and explained things clearly. As a health care professional myself, I feel qualified to assess her. She is a consummate professional, kind and caring, a top notch oncologist and person. And her assistant Lori is as well.

I came to Boundary Bay/AEC because it is 24-hour and the ones closest to me had very long wait times or no availability til next day. My kitty possibly had lily poisoning, so she had to stay for 48 hours. All of the staff I talked with was so kind and helpful. They made a scary experience a much better one and took great care of my sweet girl. I'm so grateful! Absolutely worth the hour drive. Thank you, everyone!

Kind staff, fair pricing. Our golden's knee surgery became two knee surgeries due to a skin infection which had gone unnoticed (he's so fluffy). Boundary Bay was very sensitive of our financial constraints and worked with us to minimize any overlapping costs between the two surgeries.
