Twelve Oaks Restaurant & Tavern

I live up the road from here and actually have not dined in but order take-out often - probably 4 or 5 times now. The staff is friendly and helpful regardless.
Listen: this one of is the nicest restaurants in the area and we're lucky enough that it's in Brownsville. It is incredible. For the high quality ingredients and preparation, the prices are fantastic. My family's favorite is the fish sandwich and soups. I live for the tuna tartar salad. It's the best. I have trouble ordering anything else because it's my favorite. I've had the wings and they're really great, too. I look forward to having an actual dinner there soon.
Only suggestion I have: If this is a southern restaurant it needs a buttermilk fried chicken dish on the menu. Also, make fresh biscuits for guests - not rolls. I love southern dining so I think everyone should check this place out.

The building alone is a gorgeously restored mansion from 1906. First floor is a top notch restaurant with a fine dining atmosphere. Very large portions of delicious southern treats and a large beer/wine list. The cellar is a well lit tavern with beautiful wood from wall to wall. The second floor bedrooms have become antique shops, each with their own theme. My sister went nuts for the reasonably priced designer purses. I fell in love with the Edison record player.
The staff were all helpful, pleasant, and very personal but where I was really impressed was when the owner of the restaurant sat with me for 30+minutes personally discussing the long history of the building.
Our group was there for roughly 3 hours and didn't want to leave.

Once you walk into the restaurant you are just mesmerized by the beauty and thought put into it. The music and decor make the environment put you back into Victorian times. The service was great and our server was attentive. Between myself and my husband we thoroughly enjoyed the appetizers, our main courses, and the delicious desserts. This restaurant is definitely a ten! We will tell our family and friends about it. They must advertise so that they have more diners. We live within ten miles of Twelve Oaks and didn't know that it was there. Such a great loss...please post in the newspapers, etc. so you are here to stay for a long time. We know that we will be back. Twelve Oaks is definitely a enjoyable and pleasant experience!

We had a small family event here and the food and service was just amazing!! We had the garlic herb chicken, baked ziti and it was beyond delicious!! On the side was the absolute best mashed potatoes and gravy I have ever had!! Beautiful dining area, and a very cozy bar downstairs. It's out of the way but so worth the time to find it!!

This is my favorite place to have a relaxing dinner and glass of wine. I feel that this is such a hidden gem. The owners have painstakingly restored this building to it's original glory. I highly recommend checking out Carpet Baggers Tavern located in the lower floor of the mansion. Tom the bartender is just awesome.

The food is simply amazing. An old mansion turned into an upscale dining experience. 3rd floor has a local shops with very unique and handmade goods. Surprised to find such a nice place in brownsville.

I was very impressed with the entire visit from start to finish. Food was so tasteful and the decor was breathtaking. And to top it off after the delightful meal I was able to go shopping right upstairs where the cutest unique variety of things could be found. Please go if you haven't been, you won't be disappointed.

Great food and several dining options. Fancy meals upstairs and pub like experienced downstairs. A little pricy but good place to go. Love the old building. Sadly this places is rarely open anymore. It's been months. Maybe they should sell it to someone who will really keep things going.

I recommend this for any special occasion dinner date. Menu is a little pricey, but we'll worth it. The owners have done a wonderful job refurbishing this old local mansion while keeping it's integrity. Unigue gift shops located on the second floor.

This restaurant is not your typical dining experience ! This owner took time, money and countless hours of work to perfect this establishment. The food, staff and a touch of southern atmosphere makes Twelve Oak's an excellent choice.

The best restaurant in the area! Food, service, and everything is absolutely excellent. The tavern is very relaxing and enjoyable. Try the lobster mac and cheese. You will not be disappointed.

My husband , my daughter and myself were so pleased with the delicious food prepared just the way we ordered , excellent waiter service and the old south theme . It was a wonderful experience and I will plan to visit the Twelve Oaks again.
