Bob's Sub & Sandwich Shop

There is something supernaturally, freakishly good about these subs, and there always has been. They don’t look special, but they’re absolutely amazing. Don’t worry about the “service” or “atmosphere”. It is, after all, inside the husk of a defunct 19th century post-office and is decorated with Post-Gazette pullout posters from 1993. The people who run the place aren’t there to be nice, and if you think they are mean, you should have been there when it was run by Nurse Ratchet and Miss Trunchbull in the 80s and 90s. Then for a while it was run by a freakin gnome. You get in, hope you don’t get barked at, check out the Jaromir Jagr posters, and get out with subs that you’ll be dreaming about for weeks after.

Food was delightful. Really does have an old time feel.

I would readily abandon my vehicle in a handicapped spot and be towed if it meant I could get my hands on Bob's Subs 15 seconds faster. This place is better than any other food options within a 30 mile radius of Slippery Rock.

Best place to get subs in 60 radius. Atmosphere has always been great. Pinball machine is nostalgic and the classic arcade in the back is a great for killing time.

Just picked my daughter up from SRU at the end of her first year and we stopped at this little sub shop before leaving town. I had the Rueben sandwich and it was delicious! Piping hot and the corned beef was perfect. We will definitely eat here again in the future. Reasonably priced and supporting local business…win, win!

Bob's is absolutely the best Sub shop around, hands down. Their turkey sub is killer. Zero complaints

A staple in Slippery Rock forever. Always have to grab a giant whenever I visit, hasn't changed a bit in over a decade since I graduated from SRU.

10/10 would eat again. The girl with pigtails taking my order was very kind and recommended the pastrami. I said “say less”. Then the nice looking blonde boy made my sub to perfection in what must have been record time. That meat knocked my socks off. And all the toppings were scrumptious. Best sub this side of the slippery rock creek.

I have been going to Bob's for years, since I moved to the area in 1999. The staff is always friendly, and the subs are delicious. I usually call ahead so that I can just arrive, pay, and leave, and the staff is always efficient and courteous. If you are stopping for a brief visit, make sure you check out Bob's Subs!

Edit after reading several other reviews: The staff here was very friendly and helpful with special requests from the menu. Yes, they are young... it's Slippery Rock. I was that same kid working a job, here in Slippery Rock, throughout high school and college. Get off your high horses, and eat your sub.

Sentimental review here. I have ties to 'Big Bob W.', and this is the most true to original. Good ownership, and one heck of a sub.

I crave Bob's subs from time to time from my fond memories as an undergraduate at Slippery Rock U. Lovey and I took a trip up there the other day. I had the giant ham and lovey had the smaller tuna. Just like I remember it love,love,love it. It really brings back memories. ❤

Best subs on earth! Great prices, quality meat and the sub rolls are homemade. Went to college in Slippery Rock 37 years ago and still make my trips there for a Bob Sub. (Over 1 hour drive) They also have Bob subs in Clarion and the Pittsburgh Area. If you like subs you will like this place even better.

I went to school here. Ate so many of these subs I couldn't even count em. Just stopped back after 20 years and it hasn't changed, which is a good thing. The exact same taste I remembered. This is a treasure.

The original and only authentic Bob's Sub is in Slippery Rock. Locals know this place is the best place to get a sub in the area. I have eaten here for over 30 years; the subs still taste exactly as I remember in elementary school. The consistency is astounding. To those that complain: you just don't get it; this is not a corporate soul-less chain. May the one and only Bob's Sub endure!

One of the best sandwiches I’ve had since moving to Pennsylvania. Ordered the roast beef and have been back several times again since for the same thing. Staff is very friendly and pleasant to deal with as well. Keep up the good work guys

The only REAL Bob's Sub. All others are fake knock offs. My order tastes the same now as it did 20 years ago. Some things should never change and this is one of those things.
