Plenty of easy & difficult hiking trails & walking paths with views of the canyon. This park seems less visited than Leonard Harrison on the opposite rim. Bonus, road to the park is flanked by Tioga State Forest lands with additional hiking trails, one is handicapped accessible. And being on forest land, dogs may be walked off leash there.
Also: has CCC-built incinerator just like at Leonard Harrison - visible from Colton Point Rd.

Hiked the West Rim Trail from Rattlesnake Rock to the Colton Road north terminus. Trail was well marked. Maintenance in general was good, downed trees in a few places required a workaround. One muddy section had log slices as stepping stones, these were very slick, so proceed with caution. Check the map for stream crossings, there was one section we did not carry enough water.

Have been to Leonard Harrison a few times, and Colton Point is just as amazing as the east side! Easy to get to, and the overlook spots have amazing views to look at. Turkey path gets quite narrow but not too difficult to navigate. Will be coming back, photos don't do this place justice

Beautiful state park with terrific views. Fun and strenuous trail leads down to Pine Creek. The park has a primitive campground that seems overpriced for the basic amenities. There is a $6.50 additional reservation charge that is even applied even for same-day campers.

Colton Point State Park is part of the Grand Canyon of PA. The views are spectacular and the hike is easy for any level hiker. Take a packed lunch and enjoy the rustic picnic tables and area. This is a definite bucket list of PA place to go.

A beautiful and scenic state park offering amazing views of the “PA Grand Canyon.” Colton Point State Park consists of over 360 acres of wooded and mountainous terrain on the Western rim of the Pine Creek Gorge. There are many activities to engage in at the park including hiking, fishing, hunting, and canoeing, rafting, and kayaking on Pine Creek. There are many vistas in the park as well as pavilions for picnics. There is also a small camping area with limited amenities. This is a beautiful area of PA with much to offer in the way of outdoor activities!

This is a nice and well maintained park. You can drive up to two of the lookouts. There is parking at each one of them. The views are breathtaking. There are several more lookouts if you walk along the Colton Point Canyon Rim Trail. So you know where to go be sure to grab a park map. THERE IS NO CELL PHONE SERVICE IN OR AROUND THIS PARK. Unfortunately I couldn’t found find a map in Colton Point but across the gorge at Leonard Harrison State Park I found one at the park entrance.

Also, there is a restroom facility located just after the first lookout heading towards the loop (last lookout) They are glorified portapotty’s, in an actual building. No plumbing this high up on the mountain!

This is one of my favorite places in the world. It’s the side of the canyon where it’s free to view. Great place to park take a small hike up the ridge, eat lunch and take in the breathtaking views. This last time we say hawks flying below. Topside bird view

Views here were so beautiful in the fall time. Make sure you hike the rim trail to get all the overlooks, and try to make it to the actual Colton Point if you can! The turkey path has switchbacks down the mountain that are fun but strenuous when coming back up! There are also waterfalls along that path, so I think it was worth it!

Colton Point is across the river from the Grand Canyon of PA park, Leonard Harrison. While the views at Leonard Harrison are better, the views here are darn good.
There's a rustic campground which seems to attract people without children. There's also an organized group campsite.
Picnic tables are scattered in the park and there are five pavilions.
For hiking, the rim trail goes around the park, and the steep turkey path goes to the canyon floor where you can fish the Pine Creek.
You can snowmobile in the winter, and hunt in season.

What a beautiful place. The Colton point side of the gorge is far less developed than the the Leonard Harrison side but I believe that just adds to it's beauty. The rugged trails and overlooks make you feel like you've found a forgotten corner of the state!

This area is known as the PA Grand Canyon! The views here are amazing, especially from the lookout area of Colton Point, but don't let that be your only stop! There are plenty of hiking trails and some phenomenal views as you are approximately 1000 feet above the bottom of the canyon.

Beautiful vistas, great gravel cycling around the park. The vistas are good places to propose to your girlfriend (now fiancée). She has said YES 100% of the times I've asked her here.
