The view is amazing! Fall colors, sunset & also watched a lot of eagles! No hike needed to reach the observation point. You can drive it there. Make sure to download the map beforehand, internet is weak once you reach the top.

This is one of the best state parks in the state. The views of the canyon from Colton Point are amazing, but I think Leonard is slightly better. Haven't done turkey path yet on this side, but the overlook trail gives you some great views of the canyon and is easy to navigate. Accommodations at the entrance are nice too and their is plenty of room on the entrance walkway to move around. Amazing place

UPDATE** 4/16/24 I have revisited and Everything appears to be open: Parking, Restrooms, Trails, and Overlook !

Closed for renovations BE WARE !!
It’s not just you can’t go into a building it’s they are reconstructing the whole mountain side!!

Given no indication anywhere as to
What temporarily closed means also this park seems to go by several different names.
It seems PA Grand Canyon online and Overlook trail directs to this location.

Seems to have been this way for several months so don’t know how people are giving a review as of couple weeks ago.

This is a tourist spot. People come from all over to hike and see the gorge. Which isn’t a bad thing, just the trails are heavily trafficked. People of all fitness levels and lifestyles can easily navigate the steps trailed along the side of gorge. Beautiful views all along the stone steps which are big enough to accommodate large groups of people. The Overlook trail down to Otter View is a whole other story. It is a loop trail (trail map located at the entrance by the soda machine) leading to the south lookout of the canyon. Do this trail counter clockwise to avoid the STEEP HIKE back up. If you make a right and do the steep down hill first then the hike back up the other side is a more gradual incline. The trail is dirt, somewhat rocky and steep. Otter View is worth seeing in my opinion. We didn’t do Turkey Path because I heard it was closed part way down due to storm damage. Always check which trails are open before planning a visit.

Also, there is a refreshment food truck parked near by selling ice cream and snack foods. There is also a stand selling locally sourced maple syrup and honey. There are also drink vending machines located at the entrance as well as bathrooms. Ample parking but this place gets busy in the fall.

Beautiful scenic views even without the sun. We will go back in the summer to hike on the trails.

Nice park. They are currently doing renovations which I would estimate not being done til late 2023 but it’s still nice and the views are great. It was a little crowded compared to the other side of the canyon but the accommodations on this side are nicer!

I loved it here. This is one of my favorite areas of the state, but first time at this particular location. Driving in, it is welcoming and inviting, but not overbearing. It keeps the natural element feel. Everything is clearly marked. Regular public areas are kept clean as are trails. There is a cleae, noted presence of rangers, and in a place like this where sometimes a wrong step in the wrong shoes could be a problem, that presence is reassuring while not invasive. Trails are marked well, including what to expect about difficulty. Restrooms are plentiful and clean, as are picnic areas and parking. Educational material is set up, interesting, and easy to go through. Maple vendors were there when we visited. Perfect location for setup. We only did the overlook trail because i really didnt have great footwear that day (my boots were soaked from a visit elsewhere earlier in the day, so casual shoes it was). The trail seemed well maintained but still kept natural for thr most part. It made for a peaceful walk. Due to my shoe issue, I was thankful for the few benches along the trail. We hope to go back for the turkey trail with better footwear next time.

I camped in the campground there and although small it was clean and enjoyable. There is no camp store so get anything you need before you arrive (firewood, ice and so on). You can go to the campground down the road for ice and stuff but firewood you need to grab aaong the way! There's also a playground for the kids. The walk to the lookout from the campground isn't long at all and the lookout is nicely maintained. There's also a small exhibit right at the entrance of the lookout with information on the wildlife in the area and how the gorge was made. There's also NO cell service at all there, absolutely none. I really enjoyed my stay there and the staff was awesome!

Magnificent views! Photos don't do it justice! Scary boulders protrude out over the canyon.
Go there before they "make it safe" by putting barriers in like many other parks are doing.

Visited the Grand Canyon and hiked the turkey path trail to the Pine Creek. Beautiful waterfalls, very clean state park and facilities.

We stayed a LHSP campground June 2021. It is a small, one loop campground that is very nice. Site 19 was pretty big, I think the nicest, with nice trees for hammocks and tarps if desired. It's on the corner so only really neighbors on one side. Sites all appear to be flat, most sites had 2 or more tents when we were there. #14 looked like the next best, then #1. There is no cell service, and weather updates are posted at the check in station (did not need to check in, post tags were brought to the site) but it was not changed while we were there from Friday - Sunday, and the woman inside did not seem to be pleased we stopped and asked her about the storm forecast. A ranger drove by a few times, bath house is nice, newer, and surprisingly bug free. One shower in each plus a family room with shower. Dish washing tubs are not great, stainless steel sinks with no counter area on the sides (probably the only negative of the campground). Hiking is right from campground, Turkey Path goes down to the rail trail to then go as long and far as you want. Beautiful PA Grand Canyon views a short walk from campground. We did not see any wildlife at all in camp, reportedly bald eagles at the Lookout. We drove 3.5 hours for a 2 nite stay. Definitely well worth the trip.

The drive up PA 287 is always scenic and enjoyable. Once at the canyon, it really is a breath of fresh air. Was totally psyched by the maple syrup stand that was there this day. And after visiting here, Wellsboro is a fun town to grab some good food and shop.

The park is on the lines of NPS sites. PA is putting great efforts in conserving and promoting the state parks which are absolute beauty. The staff at the park is super friendly.
Don't forget to get a PA passport to stamp each state park sites.!

Waiting till fall to return!

We love this place, as its one of the most well kept parks we have ever visited. If you have the time, i highly recommend the Turkey Path. Down and back up i believe is about 5 miles, but completely worth it for sight seeing. All the waterfalls are located here, and we love taking pictures and seeing everything.

INFO: The turkey path is located from the visitors center. Through to the lookout point, past the restrooms and little gift shops, it starts to the right. It is a pretty good downhill walk, then a constant incline walk back up. After rain, it can get slippery in some spots, so be prepared and wear good shoes. Vending machines are located at the beginning before the start, but nothing throughout or at the bottom, so be prepared.

Definitely recommend a visit to this state park. The views are amazing. We went during the fall foliage season. You can hike to see views or view from easy access. They even have a local vendor that sells some Maple treats.

Must see park with stunning views of the Pine Gorge. This would be exceptional viewing in the fall. Visitors center with bathrooms. A small gift shop and a food truck. Nice viewing platform without doing the trails. Trails are very nice but are moderate to hard. Overlook and turkey hill path- may want to call ahead to make sure trails are open due to weather or otherwise.
