Old General Store

I can't say enough good things about this store. It is a very "old school" type of place with tons of variety crammed into a very welcoming environment. I found myself needing to buy an unexpected gift for someone and all I had to go on was that they "liked tea." With that info, surprisingly, I couldn't find any places around town that could help me with a nice gift basket of tea. I did a Google search and came across the Old General Store in Mt. Pleasant, which is within 30 minutes of me. I called and spoke to a very nice person named Katie (??), who explained that they didn't have gift baskets made up but they had all the stuff to put together one.

Based on that, I drove to the store and browsed this very busy store. I'm not very creative with stuff like this but I found some Republic of Tea cans plus some local honey and went to the counter to ask to speak with Katie. She pleasantly confirmed it was her and surprised me by saying that she had actually already put something together for me, including a nice tea mug, some teas, honey, etc. What a great surprise that was very appreciated. She switched out a couple of the tea choices for ones that I had already picked up and surprised me again with a very reasonable price for a beautiful 100% customized, wrapped gift set.

If you need something for gifts and like local products like jams, jellies, teas, etc. please visit this great store. I guarantee you won't get this kind of great personalized service in a Wal Mart. My thanks to this store and Katie for helping me finish my Christmas shopping just under the wire.

Really a nice unique gift store & more. Wonder things for your kitchen, decorations, soaps, candles, candy, perfumes, essential oils, & much much more. Quality & not your (Wal-Mart run of the mill stuff). Defiantly will return & highly recommend a stop by just to see. Both ladies were very kind & jovial.

Love this little store it has a little bit of everything! Jams, jelly’s, butters, sauces, salsas. All the candy I grew up on candles, books toys. All the works! Would recommend a visit!

They have everything here, and a decent selection of hot sauces. There is something for everyone here!

I stopped here while visiting your family in connellsville, Pennsylvania for some fun old-time candy treats and walked out with $40 worth of candy. It's a very fun place to bring your kids, but know that you're going to be walking away with a bag full of sugar!

DEFINITELY A MUST VISIT WHEN YOU’RE. CLOSEBY! We were staying in the area and stopped into the Old General Store (OGS) which was next to our hotel. We could have spent hours looking at all of the interesting things there. The lady at the front was very nice and helpful. We found many things that brought back memories of times gone by, including some candy items that we brought back for our kids to enjoy when we return home. When you walk into the store, you are walking back in time. If you are nearby, this is definitely a must visit….you will probably find something that brings back great memories!

We love having such unique little shop so close to home. They sell items that are a little bit country, a little bit eclectic, never dull and always entertaining. There is something for everyone here, no matter your age. Some of the shop has a little nostalgic, vintage flare -- who remembers Valomilk candy at the 5 and dime or Porters Salve from their grandmother's medicine cabinet? I love being able to find Parks Designs home decor so close to home. The new location is so much brighter and much more open. I could spend an afternoon (and a lot of $$$$) in this store! Make a stop, you'll love it!

Great place. Wonderful mix of old and new. Nostalgic for those that remember the Old General Stores some of the smaller, rural towns had growing up. Friendly staff, fair pricing.

This store is AMAZING!!! I FOUND SO MANY things that you don't see anywhere else!! Like pickle mints...old fashioned candy by the pound.. locally made furniture... Old fashioned tins... Jewelry... Spices. The staff are Soo helpful and flexible. They are holding an item for one week for me until payday. Please go see this place!

Went to this Old General Store and it was awesome. Stuff I haven’t seen since I was a kid. Old fashioned candy, wonderful lady there was pleasant and helpful. Lots of kool gift ideas. I can’t wait to go back.

Much bigger store since they relocated to the spot they are at now. Little of everything from old fashioned candies, kids toys, log furniture items, rustic decor, beautiful garland, grubby lights, wallets, purses, Vera Bradley purses, bracelets, necklaces, kitchen items, teas, coffees, locally canned goods, fudge, etc. Great place to find gifts. Large parking lot as well.

Bigger store. Best place to shop when looking for the perfect gift for anyone this Christmas at any budget. I was so busy looking I ran out of time and forgot to take pictures! Btw they have a stock of Amish furniture worth checking out.

The Old General Store is definitely worth a visit! Originally stopped in for some candy for the road but just love the different gift items in this well curated gift shop. Use your GPS.not easy to find!

The new location is so nice. The store is full with so much amazing decor, gifts, specialty foods and so much more. The employees are amazing. They have a facebook page and an Instagram page also. They have special sales and announcements on their page frequently.

My daughter and I really like this store. She loves all the different kinds of candy and I like that they have such a variety of unique items.
