I don't understand the bad reviews... I have never had anything but perfect service from them, and it seems my coworkers all have the same opinion. Their customer service has been fantastic at helping with any issues, and they pay faster with better coverage than any other insurance company I've ever known. They are accepted by every provider I've ever wanted to go to, so I haven't had to doctor-shop. I give BCBS-MT the best score possible.

One of Helena best employers. But while there are agents who take phone calls in the building, BCBSMT is not equipped to take walk-ins. In fact a very nice person will take you into a room and help you make a phone call to customer service (they do this to make sure the call is recorded).

If there were zero stars that would be my rating. Unfortunately, this company’s method of operation is to try to save money by denying care and then making the person and their providers fight for it. They would send documents to me telling me why things were denied, but the criteria I had to meet were all clearly documented in my medical records. They confirmed receipt of these, and acknowledged the information was in there but continued to deny. My physician even called and told them it was medically necessary and still it was denied. Anyone that’s ever gone through a severe medical event knows that having additional barriers to treatment, especially ones that are illogical and hypocritical, only succeeds in making you sicker. No economy or society ever flourished by denying healthcare; many have flourished when they support the health of their people. Had I not had the opportunity to switch insurances, I never would’ve had the tests that diagnosed my condition and helped me return to functioning. I heard they lost the contract for us retires as well as the state workers after only having it a year. If that’s true, kudos to the state for being so responsive and showing that you care about the health of your employees and the retirees still on the state health plan!

I had a refund check from BCBS of Montana for $849.32. I was moving from Montana to Texas and the check had expired while establishing a new permanent address.
Once I received the check and tried to deposit it in my Montana Bank, I was told it had expired. So I called BCBS of Montana to reissue the check. I had the original check in my hand.
This is where it gets pathetic! BCBS of Montana gave me every excuse in the book not to reissue this expired check. “It was direct deposited”- absolutely no record. “It’s being reviewed”- why? It just expired?. “Wrong mailing address”-really? All your other info gets here? BASICALLY, BCBS OF MONTANA STOLE $849.32 FROM ME AND WON’T RETURN IT! Beware!!!

The worst customer experiences ever. Continually deny treatments that we pay for. Thousands of dollars a year and you can't get treatment prescribed and authorized by medical professionals. Useless company with useless employees. Why do we pay for coverage when we can't get treated? If any other businesses pulled this garbage they would be out of business.

I pay more than my rent a month for insurance, and I still have to pay 4 times that before they cover anything. It is a scam and a rip off. I hope the company goes under and takes all of it's employees with it since they want to work for a corrupt corporation.

I have called twice to get benefits for a patient and the first time I was on hold for 25 minutes before I gave up. The second time I have been on hold for 28 minutes and counting. Terrible response time.

I would do less than one if I could. Worst insurance I have ever had. Impossible to talk to an actual person..it’s all automated. It makes it impossible to ask any questions or solve any problem. WORST EVER

They sent a letter to my address addressed to a friend that passed away 4 years ago. I sent it back asking they send no more to this address. He passed away 4 years ago. Now I get another one addressed to my friend saying "Here is the info you requested". Called number and got hung up on. This place is just a scam.

Been trying to sign up for 3 weeks! BCBS collected my money on Day 1 but still has not approved coverage! Submitted the same required documents 4 times over the three weeks. No one knows what's going on. Account status still: "Pending Review". In the meantime, my family does not have health insurance. Worst experience ever!

I sent all my premiums in on time. They never cashed them and kept telling me I had not paid - then they threatened to kick me off the plan. They a wanted me to send a check but that makes no sense at all since it would have been cashes either.. It was a disaster. My husband and I are in our 70s. We would never have gotten back up for Medicare. We are still fighting but the outcome is uncertain. The bank teller hinted that they had a person inside that was profiting from all this. I don't think she would know that tho -I would never use them

The customer service line should be renamed customer torture line. You get to talk to an agent in Illinois and they refuse to let you talk to a specialist or supervisor when you ask for one. They quote misinformation on your policy and talk over you. Incredibly frustrating. I’ve been on the phone over 2 hours and am no closer to getting my question answered about my medical benefits.

By far the worst insulin coverage in the Medicare plan. Plan on spending the maximum out of pocket allowed. It’s just so unfair when you can’t get them medication you need for a reasonable price.

This used to be a great provider friendly company. Since the changes with Availity and their IVR AI not allowing anyone to speak to a real person, they have gone way down hill.

Absolutely criminal the way they avoid paying claims. I called for pre-approval and was approved. Then they denied the claim saying I went to the wrong hospital even though I double checked with BCBS ahead of time. Then by some strange happening the call logs disappeared so there was no proof of my call and my phone company doesn't keep logs over two months. Companies like BCBS are the reason we were forced into the affordable care act and they just find new ways to screw policy holders and hospitals.

Terrible website, login is near impossible. Company customer service is not by English speakers, they are not helpful. They spend thousands on ads, nothing on customer service. Owned by a Chicago company who calls themselves Montana based. Just an awful, poorly run company that is all about the money - despite their ads saying they are all about the people and montana. Such BS. Look at the other reviews and choose anyone else besides the uncaring company based in Montana but owned and run by HCSC.
